I love these HK cultural videos! My boyfriend is from HK but came to the states when he was really young. We visit HK almost every year to see his family so it's always interesting to see what locals are like and how they grow up. I also went to uni in Toronto and we had a lot of students from HK who went to Canadian International Schools! Also I get to practice my canto since mine is terrible haha.

Went to an international high school, almost died, but I'm glad I did it! I now speak 4 languages and I'm almost fluent in three! I'm Learning also two others. So, I understand why my parents wanted me to go there but they pushed it too much! Though, I'm happy because college is sooooo easy for me :)
Which languages you can speak and how you chose that should learn that language actually I want to learn another languages but i am not able to choose which language should I learn
To be honest, I think IB is very hard and stressful in another sense. We don't have an exam or test weeks each semester but IB has a lot like I mean A LOT of long term projects. For example each task we might need to write around 1000 words or above to analyse a piece of text. So I won't say International School is easy or stupid but we have our own difficulties. I think this is a wrong perception Local Student usually have on us, "stupid", "chill", "easy" blah blah blah but like honestly IB is equally complicated and stressful.

Student who study international school is generally more socializing and more easy going. English level is better as well. Therefore it is more "international".
When I was studying in HK, I remembered my classmate's hair is naturally light brown, and she had to submit a parents letter to the disciplinary teacher every school year to explain her hair colour is natural...
I live in the U.S now but in Fiji(my home country) we also referred to our classes as primary year and then the form 1, 2 or form 3. I had no idea what elementary or junior high was when I moved to California. We also seemed to have the same rules with no dyed hair or painted nails, hair and dress to be a certain length and other strict rules so school in California felt like a blessing especially with the no dress code we received in high school so girls even wore their bras to school and my parents and I were shocked at first to go from seeing knee length outfits to showy bras!XD

I think not many English speaking ppl from international School knows much Chinese and Cantonese like Chad. I also agree if I have kids , I will let them study local school because it’s cheaper and can be better in Chinese. Although heard that local school doesn’t have much camping activities, if that’s the case , I will make them join some extra curricular to do more entertaining things .

Same here to be honest. I've always been interested in Europen culture more. My Chinese is bad as hell too and my English aren't so good either. Moreover, International schools seems to nurture creativity more. And what do we local schoolers get? Endless studying, reciting everything, a strict and repressed school life. In nowadays world, creativity is much more important than working ability. So u can say that, local schools produce better workers, while international schools produce better entrepreneurs. How pathetic.
Totally agree, especially because I studied in Chinese schools exclusively until I came to UK to attend university. Man, it was hard because even though my English was alright back then, I just felt really awkward suddenly switched to a new language and culture. What didn't help is local schools tend to have a lot of coursework and everyone seems so competitive there as well. Geez, I wish I could have attended English schools but one good thing I got out of it is at least my Chinese is quite good lol not anymore because I don't have anyone to speak Chinese with except my kids and since they are toddler and baby, you don't expect them to respond fluently as well lol
Yeah same my Chinese is absolutely atrocious but my school’s Chinese is one of the most challenging in Hong Kong so that’s really hard for me ...:/ I’m glad that my family’s immigrating to Canada soon I honestly can’t wait lol

I went to public school in Shanghai until year 10. Then 2 years of IB in a private high school in Australia... legit I can relate to both of you guys hahaha but my bachelor degree nearly killed me compared to IB. The IB course at my high school was too chill :((

小學中學一條龍
初中三年中文教育同本地學校課程差唔多（仲要有中史...），但係會mix左少少預備IB嘅野。
唔可以染髮，但係可以唔紮辮。
校裙唔洗長過膝蓋，但係要著校服。
好多人化妝，但係亦有人因為化妝被人捉（應該睇老師）
我自己覺得學啲野係難過身邊本地學校，因為佢哋聽聞無寫我地咁多essay。
本地學校功課比較多，但係根據我一個由本地學校轉入來嘅同學講，我地比起quantity更注重quality
老師的話好多外國人，同時都好多本地老師，上堂老師會講英文，除左中文中史全部英文教。
但係大多數人（我個級）係用廣東話交流。
我自己覺得我地學校係天堂同地獄，你有心學你可以學得好好，你無心學，痴埋班唔學習嘅人度就好難有好成績

同感，而且我地根本就係被人訓練成 yes-man/高級員工，完全無創造力，係當今世代完全無辦法同人比，只好一世困在香港做打工仔，最多升到管理層
