This will erase the device and its passcode or disabled locks that are stopping you from using the device.
1. Disconnect all cables from your device.
2. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button, then "slide to power off" to turn off your device.
3. Press and hold the Home button and plug the device into your computer. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on. Don't release the Home button.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. If iTunes doesn't open automatically, open it. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
6. Click OK. Then restore & update the device.
If your device doesn't go into recovery mode, try steps 1-4 again.

Yeah, it happens, passcode was set up on my wife's old iPhone 4S. But her work would make her change the passcode bi weekly. Hence not remembering.

Hi, I have recently updated from iPhone 6to iPhone 12 pro max and I did the smart Apple air to air transfer successfully but somehow my old iPhone 6 was stuck and got locked in "transfer mode" time remaining estimating 1min "....!

if its not an apple laptop or mac it wont open. I have windows so I went searched up iTunes for windows 10 and it worked and I was able to connect my phone and restore. I'm currently waiting tho

TrollStar 123 Sophie Lawson I figured it out, for me at least. Put it into DFU instead of the itunes connect screen. It should be black if it's in DFU, and it never restarted for me.
I also connected right to my modem but I don't know if this made any difference other than quicker download.

so i had a back light repair and in the time my phone was black i accedently entered the password to many times. i got the back light fixed but now my phone just says "iphone is disabled connect to itunes"
what do i need to do in itunes to ensure that i dont lose anything on the phone.. i also know the password to the phone so idk if that detail helps or not.
it always ask me for my passcode everytime I try to restore it.
ʏᴏᴜᴛᴜʙᴇ ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴇɴᴛᴇʀ if this happens you need to hold down the power and the circle button together holding the power button for ten seconds then release but still keeping a hold on the round button on the front of the phone (for aprox 10-20 sec's) until it come up on your laptop that it recognises your device.
