- The clearest way I know of to describe what the actual job of a PD is. So many concentrate on everything but the real job. This is what keeps you on the path of building a great radio station. You just need to keep it uppermost in your mind for every facet of 'the job'.
radio, music programming, CKLW, playlists, oldies, program director, DJ, radio programming, hot clock, terminology of radio, learning radio, how to radio, song on the radio
great lesson, thanks Pat
Excellent episode. Pat, you've nailed it. More PDs need to see this and absorb the lesson.
Thank you Monty. Glad you're watching.
Pat, I know you worked at the legendary CKLW back in the 70's. What other stops did you make? It sounds like you had a great radio career.
Hi John. Obviously Detroit, Albany, Hartford, a few other little cities starting off, Cincinnati, NYC, and then off air as a PD and/or GM...Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary.....and all of Canada as National PD. Lots of moving trucks. Allied Van Lines loved me. It was fun for sure.
@@MusicomAcademy Pat, my late Dad was an on the air P.D. for many years in Phoenix, AZ. He would always use the analogy of the station being the race car and the DJ was the driver. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insights.
@@johnstevens9978 Smart dad.
