  • Press moment with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Allied leaders in the Hague, 14 June 2022.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined the leaders of seven NATO Allies in The Hague on Tuesday 14 June 2022 to help prepare the Alliance’s Summit in Madrid.
The meeting was co-hosted by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, and Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Karinš also taking part.
    🗣 | NATO Secretary General:
    Prime Minister Rutte, dear Mark,
Thank you for hosting us in The Hague.
And Prime Minister Frederiksen, dear Mette,
Thank you for co-hosting tonight’s very important conversation among several NATO leaders.
In two weeks, Allies will meet for a historic and transformative Summit in Madrid.
And take decisions to keep NATO strong in a more dangerous world.
Tonight we had an excellent discussion on our preparations.
Including on the need to continue our strong support for Ukraine.
    Both in the short term.
But also over the longer term.
And I look forward to welcoming President Zelenskyy to address NATO leaders at our Summit in Madrid.
In response to Russia’s invasion, we have reinforced our ability to protect and defend every inch of NATO Allied territory.
In Madrid, we will take the next steps.
And agree a major strengthening of our posture.
Tonight we discussed the need for more robust and combat-ready forward presence.
    Even higher readiness.
And more pre-positioned equipment and supplies.
We also addressed the need to invest more in our defence, and to invest more together, to strengthen NATO’s common funding.
In Madrid, we will agree NATO’s next Strategic Concept.
It will assess our changed security environment, and reaffirm our fundamental values and tasks. It will be a blueprint for the Alliance’s future.
Finally, we discussed Finland and Sweden’s historic applications for joining NATO.
Their membership will make them safer.
    And our Alliance stronger.
I had constructive talks with President Niinistö and Prime Minster Andersson during my visit to Finland and Sweden earlier this week.
And I welcome the serious steps already taken to address Türkiye’s concerns, including in the fight against the PKK.
Our dialogue continues, to find a united way forward.
    So, Mark, Mette,
Thank you again for hosting us tonight.
I look forward to a successful Summit in Madrid.

All those present in this press statement expressed
his support to Ukraine in the invasion of his country by Russia, in fact the Secretary General of NATO has always expressed his unconditional support to Ukraine. But I cannot fail to say that it was, above all , the Prime Minister of Poland, who gave a realistic portrait of the difficult times that Ukraine is going through, emphasizing vehemently the need to move from words to deeds, through effective support for Ukraine. and to maintain a strong European unity in the fight against the illegal and barbaric acts of Vladimir Putin . The same tone was also reiterated by the President of Latvia.

NATO for the post Soviet space was/is sacrosanct institution. It is a correct assessment that NATO’s credibility is at risk. NATO must double down in providing weapons to Ukraine now. The situation in the killing wheat-fields of Ukraine shows the world the brutality of Russia against innocent Ukraine. We beseech you EU /NATO to provide much more and to do more. Wishing all of you the best at this meeting.

Somebody forgot to ask what are the real chances of Ukraine winning a war against an army much bigger in numbers. Even if that happens, will russia simply turn away?

Nobody forgot. We all know the chances. But if Russia continues this war, there is a chance there is a need for an intervention. Not just small arms deliveries that follow the UN charter. Especially if the stakes for the world grow too high.

Putin and his regime will not simply turn away but forced/pushed to cower down and pay a heavy price after a fair/harsh trial for crimes against humanity.

Nato must help now Ukraine to prevent a war in its countries in the future, which can easily become WW3. Just remember how WW2 started, when another dictator used the same arguments now used by Putin to start aggressive wars or just threatened its neighbours with war if they didn't give up part of their territory. Nato must learn from past history to avoid the repetition of mistakes.

Macron's main concern is to not humiliate Putin. Germany is still reluctant in supplying weapons to Ukraine as these people are talking.

Please quickly send artillaries to Ukraine along with personel who know how to operate these heavy weapons. Ukraine military can be trained to use these artillaries at a Battlefield. And after this war is over, please allow Ukraine to join Nato and EU. Victory to Ukraine from Washington States.

If the Ukraine 🇺🇦 defeated by Russia the world will ultimately convinced that NATO,s assurance to save to her alliance countries is absolutely bogus and really has no truth. Crucial time for NATO
because Ukraine is in desperate need.

If you aim to save the world from hunger, global recession and to make sure Ukraine win the war against Russia's invasion, then high tech Anti-missile Defense System (such as Patriot Interceptor Missile Defense System or the Iron Dome), Long range missile system to reach 200miles or more should have been delivered and put in place not just in Ukraine but also in advance to Poland, Sweden and Finland.
