  • An interview with Hugh Jackman about his new film, Prisoners, turns into a Hebrew lesson.
Apologies in advance: I'm a terrible Jew and have been informed l'shana tovah means "first of the year" or "for a good year," not happy new year. Everybody learned something :)

Aw, I can't believe Hugh would ever have a "farbissineh punim" (sour expression). Remember "Frau Farbissineh from the Austin Powers movies? By the way, the "L'Shana Tovah" greeting more accurately means "[have a] good, sweet year, rather than "Happy New Year," as the Jewish New Year is a time for sober reflection, not merrymaking.

Shana Tova is used for Happy New Year... and do not say you are a terrible Jew... eh?! :)
