This is what I imagine Jethro Tull sounding like if Tony Iommi had stayed in the band and somehow Ann Wilson from Heart became their singer/flautist, because Ann does play flute very well.
I've always thought those retro groups are boring, but this time I've changed my mind - Blood Ceremony recorded two bloody good albums! It's one of the greatest rock albums in last 25 years.
I saw them perform last week and hearing the flute live is awesome. Recorded... I agree it can become a bit much at times. But in person... pretty wicked.
wow, they're re-releasing their first album on Metal Blade? Cool deal! This came out several years ago on Rise Above Records, if I remember right. Blood Ceremony's newest album "Living With The Ancients" is amazing too. Glad to see they're getting some 'big label' attention/distribution.
It's so crazy. I watched a video with Scott Carlson from Repulsion and I said pretty much the exact same thing he said about this band: Black Sabbath/Jethro Tull/female vocals/ and a dark feeling.
@Ryu12543 Yeah, I was gonna say Sabbath with a female singer. I'm not very familiar with Tull. Mad respect for them, but from what I've heard, it's not my cup of tea. But, I know why you say it! It's the flute!!! Ha! This band's pretty cool, though. The Sabbath influence and the chick is kinda what makes it cool...for me, at least. :-)

The only thing metal heads hate worse than Emo's is other metal heads. And I love the flute, reminds me of Ian Anderson.
