Lyrics:
I've been now sauntering
Out and down the path sometime
Come on, it takes me nowhere, which I know
Faces everywhere pulling grins and signs in things
Telling me not there, man, it's no go (Don't go there boy)
I need a reason
I can't think without one now
Too much learning got to show
Call it treason
Maybe catch her, don't know how
Too many things, too much to know
I'll bring my timing in, seagulls gather on the wind
Lady screaming, lady leave me out
'Cause sometimes people stare
Sitting down in electric chairs
Steaming crowds they gather and they shout
Don't know why this evil bothers me (Take another chance boy, carry the fight, you can take him if you're fast)
So why is he trying to follow me? (Didn't I say if you're holding on, you'd be laughing at the last?)
How many reasons do they need? (I get along fine with them friends of mine but you have to make a choice)
I might just believe this time (You're singing out of tune but the beat's in time and it's us who makes the noise)
I'm talking for free, I can't stop myself, it's a new religion
I've something to see, I can't help myself, it's a new religion
Ok, my reasoning might be clouded by the sun
But someone sees the departmental lie
You know this peacetime jabbing fist in stabbing knife
Only get one look before you die
Don't know why this evil bothers me (Take another chance boy, carry the fight, you can take him if you're fast)
So why is he trying to follow me? (Didn't I say if you're holding on, you'd be laughing at the last?)
How many reasons do they need? (I get along fine with them friends of mine but you have to make a choice)
I might just believe this time (You're singing out of tune but the beat's in time and it's us who makes the noise)
I'm talking for free, I can't stop myself, it's a new religion
I've something to see, I can't help myself, it's a new religion
Gotta take pay from the saints 'n sinners
In regulation hats 'n scarves 'n things
Walking in formation down the lane,
They carry their cross, make a church bell ring (Bring it out now)
Army majors pull a mean cool truth
There lying in a swimming pool
Searching for the undeniable truth that
A man is just a fool
Don't know why this evil bothers me (Take another chance boy, carry the fight, you can take him if you're fast)
So why is he trying to follow me? (Didn't I say if you're holding on, you'd be laughing at the last?)
How many reasons do they need? (I get along fine with them friends of mine but you have to make a choice)
I might just believe this time (You're singing out of tune but the beat's in time and it's us who makes the noise)
I'm talking for free, I can't stop myself, it's a new religion
I've something to see, I can't help myself, it's a new religion
I'm talking for free, I can't stop myself, it's a new religion
I've something to see, I can't help myself, it's a new religion
I'm talking for free, I can't stop myself, it's a new religion
There are live albums, and then there is Arena. My God. Oh, my God...
Excellent stuff.. ruined the studio versions of the songs for me.
@@vannjunkin8041 for me too !!!!!!!!!!
@@ikaruichiro i see im not alone
The bass! It's insane!
The faster tempo of this live version seems to be better than the original recording.. saw these videos when my sister recorded them off of Friday Night Videos from NBC back in the day..
I saw them live last week and they still bring it
Duran Duran are just a sick rock band.
My all time fave Duran Duran SONG. brilliant!
Arena and red carpet my 2 favorite album
The best version !!!!!!!!!
yes Duran Duran is one of the best bands around. Save a Prayer, New Religion and The Chauffeur are great songs!
I had this album and cd...it was my favorite from my teenage years! I wore it out! LOL
Brilliant!!
perfect
The live version of NR is better in the way that it's stark and stripped down, with no cushy studio production for the guys (Simon particularly) to fall back on. It can't be the easiest song in the world to sing live!
Magnificent
...and huge live production! that's a miracle: DD sound a lot better live. more powerful, more stronger, more rock.
Perfection
0:21 bass twiddle sounds like the beginning of Robin Trowers track Bridge of sighs. Right at the beginning the riff. Think JT heard this and thought it was great.
I spun this so much in my youth it made the studio version 2nd rate.
This would be my favorite version if the background singers were out..
The backing vocals further punctuate the chaotic and discordant sound of the song, which is the idea.
@@paulwalker3916 I hear what you're saying.. They just seem a little TOO high in the mix..
the background singers and up tempo make this version 1000x better than the album version. get your ears checked lol
i hope you'd send me a copy. i'm John Henry, future King Of England.
My year will start in the 2012 Olympic Games
