  • The TeraFlex JK front locking hub conversion kit is designed to upgrade JK Dana 30 and 44 axles, while the rear full float conversion kit will add some serious strength to your JK Dana 44.
    SlimLock hubs feature 4340 chromoloy 35 spline stub shafts, and Dana 60 components throughout.
    The rear conversion kit utilizes a two bearing design to evenly spread the load, allowing the 4140 chromoly shafts to simply transfer the torque.

    This brought back memories of my old 1978 full time 4x4 Chevy Silverado. After hunting trips where I ended up crossing river crossing I would take the front hubs off and repack the bearings. The technology here is not new, I would go through the same steps here. Remember that was in 1978.

      not 100% professional. all this new gear including new rotors yet he put old pads on those new rotors... if your spending that much on this but are too cheap to put new pads in the end... thats not professional. if i did this for a customer they would be back real quick.

    This was a well put together video and excellent job on narration. I was thinking the same thing about the brake pads when I saw the old ones go back on. I too wondered about the convertion to the 8 lug wheels. I guess depending on the utilisation of your jeep the justification for more strength can be made. I really don't see that the wheel lugs as a common fail point for most. I would be interested in the conversion to locking hubs and bigger brakes. Anyway like I said though this was a very well put together how to video. One of the best I have seen.

      TeraFlexSuspensions I didn’t know if the reprimand was necessary after all it’s a 4x4. In my earlier days when I was more of a hard core wheeler I used to do a lot of sandy water crossings. If I had replaced my brakes every time I took things apart to clean all the sand and dirt out of my brakes I would have spent a fortune. That was the whole reason for taking things apart was to get more life out of the brakes. Learned that lesson the hard way. Lol

    • @teraflexsuspensions

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  5 років тому +1

      There are 2 forces on the axle shafts and carrier with a semi float, a load from the weight of the vehicle, and load from rotational force. By supporting the shaft with 2 bearings on a spindle, you are eliminating the forces from the weight of the vehicle. Now the only force on the shaft and carrier is rotational force. Huge increase.

If you are buying wheels anyway why not buy 8 on 6.5 and gain all the strength advantages. The 8 lug also allowed us to use off the shelf 1 ton wheel bearings etc. Much stronger alternative.. Dennis

      5.75 backspacing plus another ~.70 inches is the wrong direction. You will end up around 6.45". You need to be less than 4.5" to properly clear your steering components/frame, and recenter your Center of Gravity. Unfortunately that combo will not work.

    How does this affect the E locker on the Unlimited Rubicon

    • @BJLudski
      @BJLudski 7 років тому

      why would it affect a locker? the shafts are still acting the same as they did before. the only difference now is that the weight of the jeep is no longer on the axle shaft directly, instead it is on that new spindle that was welded in the rear, while the rotational force is still on the shafts.

      Kumar Rangerboy Keeps the spindle from rotating and loosening up the locknut, as well as coming out of the tube.

    Is there a 35 spline rear shaft option?

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  7 років тому +2

      That's what I wanted to know!! I checked with engineering explaining that I had needs ( they didn't seem impressed); I want to run 35 spline shafts in my new SEMA build. They are going to try to make it happen, its just a matter of cutting down some shafts. Right now we only have them for 70 wide axles... Will advise Dennis

      Great question! You can purchase our parts direct through us over the phone or off our website; or through any of our dealers or vendors.

    I'd love to have free wheeling hubs on my JK, but why did they choose to change up the 6 lug set-up? This means that unless you do the rear as well, you will be running two different lug-bolt/pattern wheels and can't rotate your tires. Furthermore, you are going to have to buy at least two new wheels even if you only do the front. This doesn't make sense.

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately you can't fit a wheel hub this diameter into a stock 5X5 bolt pattern on a JK, there just isn't room. You have to go to a wider 8x6.5 to fit all components. Any yes, usually one would either buy both front and rear conversions. If swapping an axle to a 60, that comes stock with 8x6.5, some choose to add a conversion kit to their other axle instead of swapping both at the same time. Tons of options out there.

    If it's all the same to you sir, running big tires like that I'd Lincoln lock the front diff 100%
    if I didn't do this mod.
