Was track side for this one,my first time to Redbud, it was the 25th anniversary of Redbud ,I have been back 9 times including this year the 50th anniversary, the place is awesome!! Thanks for these vids!!!
Skip had only been gone for about 9 months, so its not like it was years away. Skip was just flat out a very meticulous mechanic and a great mental coach. Wyatt was NOT a good mechanic. He was putting MC's clutch packs in all F'd up, which is why he kept frying clutches, and was paying waaaaaay too much attention to his new gf, and thats why he was demoted. My opinion of the riders: Hughes: in absolutely great shape, crashed way too much MC: I think he was just over Suzuki by this point Emig: great starter, and the '97 KX250 was an awesome bike LaRocco: always strong, never stopped charging, but horrible starts Dowd: gritty, never gave up Albertyn: no one crashed more from '95-'99 than Greg. Very determined Bradshaw: his time to be champion was over, but I cant believe he rode that complete POS Honda as well as he did. Ill give him props for that
125$ can get over Laroccos leap if you're holding it wide open clicking 4th gear going up the face of the jump not using the couch just lifting up the shifter and seat bouncing holding the gas still wide open through the air not letting off until your mind air. Or don't even try it 😜.

Reporters were so respectful back then 👌
That kx250 was no joke super fast. They had the right rider on it
Skip is the best Mechanic that's why.
Good times for the Junk Yard Dowd!
No Dowd took Eming out he went way out of his line. Watch Lusk stay in the same line.

A few had done it, but they also changed the jump a bit every year. They did not hold the gas on in the air.
