    Thank you for making this video, it helped me to open the door and get my washing out. It also helped to fix the issue. Bosch should be ashamed of themselves for making bad products.

    Very clear advice, opened the door within 1 minute of watching your video (shining a torch in that small gap to see where the white plastic stops and the metal starts may help). I could not remember how I managed to open it the last time the door handle broke but it definitely took a lot longer! This time I will also attempt to repair it using a piece of plastic and screws as you described, rather than buying a second replacement handle (currently £21.17 inc. postage from Bosch direct). Just in case anyone else reads this if the door handle is broken as in this video, pulling the red solenoid lock release tab at the bottom of the machine will not help. You have to find the metal and press with a knife as per this video. Many thanks.

    Thank you for posting this video!! I'm the latest owner of this machine for that exact little bit of plastic on the door to break off and you saved our washing machine with the excellent video, such a simple efffective solution, I even had the very same ikea bag tag to use to fix it - thank you so much!!!

  • @ewerninghaus
    @ewerninghaus 4 роки тому +1

    Thanks man, worked like a charm. If one does not have the IKEA plastic bag closure a piece of wood is also equivalently good. For the screws you want to use M3x12. I used M3x16 and one of them protruded at the other end, so I needed to paper grind the tip of the thread so no one will hurt their fingers at the sharp tip. Total cost: €0,07. Thanks Internet, thanks UA-cam...

    Brilliant use of the bag clip. I looked at drilling and screwing into position the cut down plastic clip fitting. However I chose to cut away the door facing, fit and glue the plastic piece in the newly formed rectangular hole. No chance of it working loose and its rigid, as its actually held in the body of the door handle. Works a treat.

I've had wire out, I've been yanking on the override strip, I've even been doing into the shed to find a special star head screw driver to take the top of the Washing machine off, only to find I can't release the catch there either.
    To see it was all so easy, all I needed was a butter knife. And I didnt need to pull it all out. Lol.

    Just completed the repair. Sometimes it’s hard to thank a person enough. Your video was so great and straightforward. A close up on the respires item would have been nice and I found it slightly difficult to find the exact spot to push the metal piece to open it (was lower than I thought) but seriously your video is amazing. I used screws from pencil sharpeners and the same plastic clip from ikea so it went smoothly. Thank you so much.

    Wow..what a great simplicity. Thanks! Right after the holidays with a family of four we have quite some washing to do😱. Shit like this always happen with bad timing😅. I will check for stainless steel M3😉..if not around I can use galvanized as well since the screws are outside the “liquid zone”. What a shame that such a small bad engineered component can cause so much trouble.
    I also tried pulling the plastic black lock “cord” behind the lower front filter/pump hatch but that didn’t work. Usually that de-activates the lock in other machines🤷‍♂️

    Thanks for advise. I didn't even need a piece of plastic to fix it. Just drilled two holes to handle and inserted two screws in the wholes so that they weren't tightened all the way. The screws will then push the lock mechanism and open it.

    Hey! Superb advice and guidance. You seem to be inspiring us non-DIYers to have a go. Thankyou!
    When I had the door in pieces, I realised there are a number of weak spots in the plastic sections where the handle sits. No reinforcement whatsoever in the obvious stress spots. 50% of owners must have this issue in the 1st 5 years, or sooner. I reinforced another broken/worn section where the handle hinge(?) locates with the door (using another piece of the same green bag clip! Ha ha....I'm so proud of myself...)
    I have a number of other door closing issues, such as a slight drop caused by the main hinge mechanism which makes it v tricky to close the door, every time!! Again you have inspired me to try to fix this myself....not today though, as I bask in the glory of actually fixing something....
    I've subscribed!
    Thanks again.

    Thank you, these are such helpful instructions. Door opened, I've taken the cover off the hatch, and indeed the wee bit of plastic has broken off. We've had this machine since about 2009 when the previous machine broke washing a load of nappies. One of the screws was really hard to undo as it was getting rusty.
