My Uncle Joe was in the flag photo that everyone remembered. He made it the whole way to the Missouri and the whole way home. He was involved in all these battles hopping all the way to the finish. Marines got hammered in the Pacific and I was surprised to hear what he did and made it home. The worst part of his story was he got clobbered by a drunk driver so close to the farm is t was unbelievable and he was killed. His sister and brother's except for my grandmother moved to Michigan after it happened. Tragedy and the youngest brother is still alive he called and wished us a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks again as always for the hard work and your time getting everything ready and edited for us to watch today! God bless you and I hope that you have a great weekend and a great day today!
It’s sad your channel isn’t bigger. No matter what you decide to do in the future I will be a viewer of your high quality content! Keep it up (if you feel like it)! This is my fav UA-cam channel
Alexander Peña, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian, He was KIA July 30th 1944 on the island of Tinian, the island was declared secure Aug 1st, He almost made it home, R.I.P Uncle Alex, the Greatest Generation of All Time, God Bless America.
Allot, thanks for sharing this informative, accurate military explained.. Happy New Year ... good luck and best wishes for your...going on of your ( war academy) channel products 👍🏻
How can you NOT mention the 27th division, of which my Dad was a part of. 3 medal of honor winners came from there as THEY were the ones who took the brunt of the last failed Banzai attack. There was even a graveyard established for just the 27th division. Brave Marines, Navy and Army took this island. I may be wrong, but I think the Navy had the highest casualties on the next island....Okinawa. That was the REAL, last stand. Thank you for your work.
The infamous warmongering Prime Minister of Japan, resigned immediately after having after the fall of Saipan. Indeed, from Saipan, Japan moved within range of bombing American B 29 planes.
the japanese and the american military had no business on these islands. it’s really disheartening that generations of Chamorro people living on the island have experienced such cultural collective trauma from this 500 years of colonization. When we talk about military battles like this, we cannot forget the Indigenous people of Saipan and the loss they endured and continued to endure.
I lived on Saipan from 2007 thru 2018. I walked those battlefields at every opportunity. Amazing. Life changing. Loved it and miss it every day
It wasn't just Marines. The 27th Army infantry division was there too.
For sure my great uncle was Wounded on that island he was army

Please do a video about operation Unthinkable
You could have mentioned the presence of IJN admiral Chuichi Nagumo on Saipan. He shot himself in his temple on 06-07-1944.
Army was on that island not just the Marines
I always thought Hirohito had nothing to do with the conduct of the war and spoke to no one outside of the his inner circle.
1st!!!!
