You’re the only creator I listen to (AND read all the emails of) regularly. I think your advice is very real and sincere.
Can you, or anyone else who is more experienced, tell me how much to spend on packaging, realistically? Like the poly mailers/boxes/label/stickers/tissue etc … everything that’s packaging. To give an idea, median price for my products is around $20-$25. Whats the max I should be spending on packaging

Thank you so much for the support, Shay! I REALLY appreciate it!! ❤️With regards to your question, there's no really clear-cut answer to this as it completely depends on your product, your business, the type of packaging you're going to use, etc. I wouldn’t go too overboard on your packaging budget to start though. I really love this idea of branding the packaging. I received a few products from entrepreneurs and the packaging was AWESOME!! So you are right it does matter!!!

This was really helpful. I've been underwhelmed with common packaging options, but this gave me some interesting ideas! I definitely didn't want to go with something bland or generic. I know that when I get something in branded packaging, I'm more likely to reference it for the shop info. Plus the heightened perceived value, of course.
I'm now thinking of getting custom stamps made (or making some) and ink-stamping instead of trying to go all in on foil stamped. And I know I've seen places that do custom wax seals....
    Thanks for the inspiration!

Great. I incorporate my kids' drawings into my labeling. This looks great, adds a personal touch, and adds to the "handmade" ness of my products❤

I use USPS boxes because they are free. I have purchased other sizes from Uline. It makes a world of difference to use these. The USPS boxes are also very hard to open I found out way after I started using them ( when I had to use one! ) I leave part of the sticky closure unexposed to make it easier for the customers. Thanks. I got lots of good ideas from you. :)

I like the idea of using a branded color of tissue paper along with tape for the outside of the bag, I think I am going to see what I can find in my brand colors and also look for a brand stamp to make life easier too.

I like to wrap my products nicely in tissue paper and stick a branded sticker on it to seal it, before popping it into the mailer or whatever (and I have some fun colored & designed poly mailers!). I might invest in special colored or branded tissue paper now...🤔

I have my packaging down, but I am wondering if I should continue with selling my dainty jewelry on Etsy. I never put much effort into it but sold a handful of items a week, made about $1500 revenue a month, sometimes up to $3000. Then a couple of years ago, it almost came to a complete stop. I am lucky if I make $300 in revenue a month now. I haven't put much work into it as far as social media or paid ads, etc. I tried paid ads for 1 week just to see, went into the back end, removed irrelevant keywords and still ended up with a $50 Etsy ads bill with no sales. So I am wondering if it is just too saturated on Etsy nowadays to even bother. What is your opinion on selling dainty jewelry on Etsy? Or should I turn my attention to Shopify? Or pivot to a new brand of products entirely, with much less saturation? I would love to know your opinion. PS: Some pieces are personalized and some pieces are not. None of it is differentiated, so anyone could make it with a small bit of skill. I don't want to get into one of a kind pieces, or pieces that take more than 10 to 15 minutes to make because my price points are a bit too low for that.

Hi Karen! Great question! If you really want to grow and spread awareness about your brand, I highly recommend having your own website. There's just too much competition on Etsy. It's okay to keep your Etsy shop for that additional stream of income but you definitely want to put your focus on your own website. Having a cohesive product line/brand that speaks to your ideal customers also helps a lot. Do you have a link to your online shop so I can have a look? Feel free to send it to me via email too if you'd like: mei@creativehiveco.com.
