I eat primarily plant based now, but your channel is still one of my absolute favorites. I love how much care you put into your food preparation and how you take so many of us down memory lane with your meals. Eating hot links on white bread was the best! Thank you for this, Chef.

This hot link brings back memories of visiting family and my travels in the military.
Most foods I loved isn’t sold where I live. The other foods that I grew up loving that my mother and father made, my kids either didn’t like or I just didn’t raise them right…lol.
I’ve spent the past 30 years not having what I crave. But that’s about to change!!
Great topic of conversation as always, Chef…

Now this is real food. I haven't heard anyone but me and my aunt that passed away call them fold overs. I always say that and people look at me crazy. We loved eating fried potato fold overs for a late night snack.
Your potato salad recipe is same as mine.

We put ketchup, mustard, chopped raw onion, chilli without beans, and coleslaw on hot dogs. Yes, I know we're weird. That's how we eat them here. We do foldovers sometimes. Otherwise, we eat it with rice. I prefer the spicy Filipino sausage.

Up here in Oregon we have a restaurant supply grocery store that sells locally made sausage and links. They have a "Polish Kielbasa" links that is just low enough on heat my husband will enjoy it, and yet they are loaded with flavors., They boil, grill, fry, and braize just fine.... plus they split, they slice, they dice... We love having them available as much as you love yours. I love them with sautéed onions too😊. We even wrap them with a big tortilla along with the fried onions and cheese inside, then give them crisp on the outside in the fry pan with a bit of oil&butter.

I ordered the hot links and you are so right, they taste GREAT!!!My husband and I could not believe the taste lived up to your every word. We ordered two packages of these links so we can share with our family and friends. We were also impressed with Slovaceks Customer Service Representatives we had the pleasure of speaking with when placing our order. They were helpful and patient, also very detailed when explaining shipping and that is rare nowadays. I also made my famous potato salad to go with these links….BOMB COMBINATIONS. We might have to have a potato salad show down soon…My husband will have to be the Judge of course!!! Well let me get to making your chicken and dumplings recipe, I’m sure my family will enjoy that as well.
Stay Safe and please keep Cooking.

Mom use to boil them then cut down the middle they fry them on both sides until the meat side is a little burnt and skin side io crisp add a slice of cheese some onions a slice of tomatoes a piece of lettuce and chili without the beans along with ketchup and mustard on toasted and butterd hamburger buns. homemade fries or onion rings. . she would put butter in the pan and add the buns until slightly burnt on top and toasted on the inside.

Hello Chef, I love sausage it is my weakness but I like color on them like you get from frying so what I do is put water in my frying pan add oil to the water and let the sausage boil in the water till the water is all gone then let the sausage fry about 5 or 10 mins just to get browning the best of both worlds and you have to put yellow mustard but some times I add coleslaw or fried onions or even sauerkraut just like on hotdogs. I have been looking for a good country style potato salad yum.

Oh Man those hot-links bring back so many great memories of my childhood in Texas! I call the half sandwiches “bend overs” because you bend the bread over your meat..
I love the old time Texas barbecue with the hot-links cooked in it. My dad was a butcher and made the best what he called meat locker barbecue. It was cutes of pork, and beef slow cooked for hours with his homemade barbecue sauce. He sold tons in sandwiches and by the quart containers.

I’m so glad to hear someone who knows West. My cousins own the market and groceries stores there. I have family living all over the area. My grandparents lived there until they passed away. I was raised in Garland but spent all my summers in Wsest with my grandparents but I had two cousins my age that I stayed with also. My uncle owned a honky tons near there that Willie Nelson frequented. Another aunt of mine dated him back in the day. I was raised on knecheck sausage and kolaches still love it. Small world but I love West and love talking about it.

@@sylviaruth5008 yes I frequented the church everytime the doors were open. I learned to quilt at my grandmothers knee. She was part of a quilting be where they lowered the frame from the ceiling and the ladies sat around it and quilted and gossiped. Of course I was not allowed to interact I just got to work on a small area and Mamma probably took it out later. The quilts all the ladies made were so beautiful. Oh how I love those childhood memories and the town of West is so important to me.
