Nice video, Sam! I enjoyed watching the video. I was wondering which Metra station you were at when I saw the storage tank with the Mars Chocolate North America sign on it at 5:43. I had not read your description of the video before I watched the video. I originally thought that you might have been at the Mars Metra stop at Oak Park Avenue on the Milwaukee West District Line.
Very nice. Went to college in Chicago and then drove ambulance in Elmhurst. Still love Chicago. Question: What is the red light (oscillating?) on some of the engines and on the cab cars. Never have seen one working. Thanks guys 🤔
They’ve been running the MACHs solo on trains lately, I just haven’t caught one yet. I guess they just wanted to use two units on this special run just in case something happens.
If I’m not wrong. the reason why the SD70MAC is double heading with 104 cause since the SD70MAC was never really built for Passenger service. So since the F40PH has the Equipment & other stuff that a passenger locomotive needs. Like powering the coaches. But the SD70MAC dose not have passenger specs. Like again it was only made for freight. So yeah Also I’m not sure if this is true that why they have to double head. but correct if I’m wrong
They were Mac’s, but Metra had them rebuilt by Progress Rail as Machs, which has them regeared for speed, new brake controllers, tier 3 emissions compliance, and a HEP system.
Wow, I loved the Metra loco with the colors of the Chicago municipal flag.
*that new metra looks like a beast and a sight to behold!*
I love the new SD70MACH on Metra. Also I loved the Polar Express Amtrak coach.
I went to the polar express Amtrak and I just realized The Pepsi can livery 160 was the one pulling the train

If I recall correctly, it’s an emergency beacon. When they go into emergency, it flashes.
SamLovesTrains, when you see an SD70MACH pulling a Metra train, why is there another locomotive coupled to it as well?

What is the Polar Express? Can't find anything about it online
Their nickname should be the “Stomach” units since the name SD70MACH almost spells the word stomach with 70 replacing “TO”

Bro forgot to do the back
Do we know what officials they were picking up?

SD70MACH is HEP fitted, hence the H. They were heavily rebuilt, they're probably still being run in hence the provision of another locomotive
