In Germany, most people take a year off before starting college/uni. A gap year is so common here, you can do all kinds of volunteer work, be an au pair, travel the world (work and travel), do interrail and so on! I think it's the best thing ever, you are so young and have your whole life to study and work, why would you wanna rush it?
ha that's what i wanted to do after highschool but it was out of question for my parents and here i am one year later completely lost and still not knowing what i wanna do with my life. however, i'm genuinely happy for you Tiffany :) it's cool to see you didn't make the same mistake as me
After a bombass highschool experience, I took a California roadtrip with 3 close friends, a best friend, and a boyfriend. We visited every national park on the way. I then went to community college for two years in my hometown. Then I took a gap year, travelling to Italy, Indonesia, and Italy. I am now in college in Prague
Seriously considering taking a year off because I'm a senior now and still have no clue what I need to do or where I need to go, but concerned about money and scholarships. How does all that work when taking a gap year? Are scholarships taken away?
I’m about to take a gap year, honestly I’m scared 😬 at the moment I have no idea what to do! Thank you for sharing your experience! I would be glad if you give me some advice!
Ever since you posted that video saying you were not going to college I've questioned my further education. I was thinking of taking a gap year but I don't know what I would do during that year. I want to think about what I want to do but i can do it when I'm taking my gen eds. I feel like I wont do the things that i want to do or ill just sit around the whole time. I'm looking to find work at the moment and I'm a jr in high school
i just graduated HS and i start college in september! this is super crazy! I'm glad you're happy with your choices, seems like everything worked out as it should. Im just intrigued! what are you majoring in? are you nervous for anything at all? also, i know you always did well in school, maybe a study tips video? good luck out there!
Hello Tiffany! This video really helped me! I'm a senior this year in Spain in an American School, and I really feel to do a gap year next year in US and then go to college there, even because right now my parents can't afford it. What do you think? I can get a job over there? Is life easy if you are by yourself? I really feel that this is the right choice for me.. What do you think? Thank you so so so much. Love xx
Hi Tiffany, it's me again! I have another question about your gap year experience (sorry I'm just really confused and I just want to hear other people's experiences).. Was it difficult to start studying again after a one year break? Some people say it's really tough because your brain is like a muscle and you have to keep it training.. I'm scared it will be too difficult to study again after this gap year. What do you think?
Thanks a lot! I was actually thinking of studying stuff that I'm interested in on my own! I think it would be nice to study something just for the pleasure of learning without the pressure of tests and grades! I'm excited about that :)
i am also planing to take a gap year but i have seen alot of people wasted there gap year i am planing to take a gap year from my school and done another alevel subject privately 😕
Tiffamy what job did you do with kids? It looks pretty fun! I would love to work with kids but I thought you could only do that with a degree in education or something like that so I would love to know what you did and what your job was like! :)
hi! I worked at a birthday party place with inflatable slides and equipment hahaha similar to Pump It Up if you know what that is. That job was super fun and my coworkers were the best. I was also a nanny! But neither of those required any education
It's funny I feel like I'm your friend I mean duh we are friends though and I'm watching you grow it's nice ah I'm excited I don't mean to sound like a mom but yay I'm just excited to see you grow lol can't wait for more from you and I just wish you all the luck!!!!! :)
hello hello! I just wanted to thank you so much for making this video. This message might come across as random but I myself am going through a similar situation you were going through when you were a senior. Its seem I don't know AT ALL what I want to do when it comes to what college or what major and all of this is giving me all too much stress and anxiety because I do want to it right. I actually care for school heck I actually love the work but for the longest time I have felt alone and wrong about doing a gap year but now I don't so for that I thank you!
also I actually do have a question. in your applications did you at all get rejected because you took a gap year? or did any college frown upon it? (its what I/m most worried about because gap years are not as common in the us)
pbhenry3 I think you are wise for taking a gap year before going into college too. If you are unsure, then its best to have some time to think it over before rushing into something you regret. good opportunity to save up money and get your life more organized too especially if you are going to college out of state, like you decided to do. Thats pretty much the same thing I did.
Did you live at home with your parents during your gap year? If not, where? Lol I'm trying to figure out my living situations for MY gap year next year.
HI Tiffany, your gap year was interesting, I really liked it..!! but i have a question about it. so what did your parents think about your gap year? (thanks for your answer) :D

How did you tell your parents??
Just tell them, they cant stop you
Well, when you're 18, just tell them, because thay can't stop you from doing this is you're an adult.
Did you live at home with your parents during your gap year? If not, where? Lol I'm trying to figure out my living situations for MY gap year next year.
who did you hang out with and go travelling with when your friends were in school? did many of your friends take a gap year?
how did you keep your long distance relationship going?
I'm not sure if I'll ever go to college, but if I do, I'll take 2024 - 2025 as a gap year (although it might not be the only one I take).
How did you talk about your gap year in your personal statement ? I'm having a hard time
