Honestly it was fine until the legendary warriors came out. The attack bouncing back and forth until infinity +1 was so crappy and forced just to beat the villain. The best duel in that entire arc was the 2nd Rafael match on the roof.
Yami Yugi VS Raphael (1 round) was so iconic. I don’t care if it was a filler arc, that duel has everything I wanted, character development born from a tragic mistake (and by tragic, I mean like a Greek Tragedy, with the hero making a fatal mistake due to his flaws). For me, Atem vs Raphael the first encounter will always be the best Yugioh Duel!! Raphael did what really no other villain has done in the series, he not only turned Atem evil but broke him and unlike Pegasus and Kaiba who cheated to win, he actually beat him with his skill!!
@@jumpers500 You know some people are blaming the mother, daughter, and the US soldier for what happened to Kazuki since he tried to saved them. I'd say that's pretty stupid! What do you think?
Rafael vs yugi round 1 has to be the best and unexpected both fans from the manga and anime watchers did not see this coming and it has to be one of the best things in season 4.
Kaiba vs Yugi in the semi finals of the battle city tournament yugi vs Mark in the battle city finals and yugi vs Joey at the dullest kingdom are just a few of my favourites because they go back and forth but really you can’t go wrong with any of his duels because he truly is the king of games ( growing up I loved YUGIOH as a kid it was definitely a staple show of my childhood )

The Ceremonial Duel will always be number 1 to me because I remember being in tears watching that. Of course the one where Atem loses to Raphael and Yugi pushes him out of the circle had me stressed.
And atem never really beat Rafael he basically forfeited the second duel to save his monsters he could of left some in the graveyard so he could wipe out yugi but chose not to
25:00 Yugi vs Strings The debut of Slifer the Sky Dragon.....used by the enemy....& Yugi STILL WON. When Kaiba used Obelisk, he was able to dominate & win for a while. When Marik used Ra, he won 3 duels. But when Yugi was up against Slifer, he still found a way out by creating that infinite loop.
While I wish Yami Marik or Marik had won (hey, I have bias!), I really loved those duels. But tbh I also love the Yugi vs Pegasus final duel, because yo, that Toon Summoned Skull summon was so good. :P I crack up every time it comes on and makes those cartoony noises!
One thing I noticed after a few rewatches is almost every time Yugi duels his friends spend half the time doubting whether or not he can pull off the win.

I literally shed a tear along with Yugi when he finished Joey off in that battle. They pulled at the heart strings in this one. Also.... the first tag team duel with Joey & Yugi teaming up in that cave is so underrated. It showed how far Joey had come as a duelist and how close he and Yugi were as friends. They battled like they were reading each other's minds.

5:57 Yugi vs Exodia Rare Hunter I personally think that Kaiba should have been the one to duel the Exodia Rare Hunter. Kaiba had received Obelisk the Tormentor from Ishizu, who said that Obelisks power along with the other two Egyptian Gods Slifer the Sky Dragon & The Winged Dragon of Ra, surpassed Exodia. Kaiba did test Obelisks power against the power of Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon controlled by a dueling computer & used Obelisks ability Soul Energy Max to destroy the fusion monster & defeat the computer, but Kaiba should have also tested Obelisk against Exodia to confirm if Obelisk's power was greater than Exodia's.
