A friend of mine and I booked our flights to Paris for March. A gift to myself for going through a rough last half of 2023 due to an unexpected divorce. I am beyond excited to just be in the presence of such history and beauty. I'm sure I will be overwhelmed to tears. I'm currently trying to plan all our activities and accommodations.

Excellent, a very comprehensive list of what to see and do!
I would add seeing; the Conciergerie, Musée Carnavalet, Musée Rodin, and one of the five or six cabaret shows.
But after 30 yrs of visiting Paris, for me, it's all about enjoying long rich lunches in the bistros and cafés, leisurely elegant dinners, nights in old world bars and jazz clubs, and everything gastronomic.

@@paristoptips - Oh you are very welcome. I love recommending your channel to people interested in coming to Paris, because they can get an honest appraisal of the city. A lot of content creators tend to over glamorize the city they are trying to promote, and travellers don't like that. We like Honesty. You keep it simple and honest and every person who wants to get the best experience when visiting Paris, should watch your videos. I can't recommend them enough.

All of these sound nice, but one of my favorites that I still remember quite vividly was a Paris cafe breakfast. Between our hotel and metro stop stumbled onto a cafe and since we would be getting to the Orsay at least 30 minutes before opening so what the heck we stopped. For 8.50 Euro (in 2019 Euros) got a croissant, pain au chocolate, tartine with butter and jam, small and very tasty orange juice, and pot of tea. It was very enjoyable and a great way to start the day. Don't remember the cafe name, it was just one we stumbled upon, but will never forget the experience.

Both on the Champs-Elysées and on the Avenue de la Grande Armée, on the other side of the Arc de Triomphe, the metro / RER entrance also lead to the middle of the place and to the underground service desk where you can purchase your ticket.

@@user-cj9zx1me7b Most churches in Paris celebrate Christmas masses, but I would recommend, close to your hotel the beautiful church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois.
Since the fire of Notre Dame, St Germain l'Auxerrois has been responsible for most of the cathedral's services.
Likewise, during the time of ND's work, the church is the repository of Christ's Holy crown of thorns; currently, it is presented to the faithful during the Friday service at 3 p.m.

    Bonjour.
Tip 1: Café Le Nemours. It was one of the memorable locations in the famous French film "The Intouchables".
Tip 2: Many turn up their noses and reject climbing the tower, but it is a moment that holds unique symbolism.
Tip 4: In the film "Francofonia", director Aleksandr Sokurov said: "Who would want France without the Louvre? Or Russia without the Hermitage? What would become of us without the museum? Gradually, museums appropriate what is around them. They can also hide humanity's greatest strength and its most incredible secrets."
Tip 6: Ah, the Seine.... Many tourists are not familiar with the splendor of a innocent cruise trip on the Seine.... I would whisper on each and every ear.... Take the boat, take the boat.
Tip 9: While admiring your footage of the Sainte Chapelle I recall the film "Diplomatie", the story of a Swedish diplomat who convinces a nazi general not to destroy Paris.
Tip 10: It is rather curious how the Champs-Élysées avenue is some sort of a small hill and it is a little bit of an extra exercise to climb it up from the Place de la Concorde towards the Arc de Triomphe: something that the maps won't tell you.

      S'il y en a plus aujourd'hui qu'il y a 30 ans, il n'y en a pas plus que l'année dernière, quand personne n'en parlait.

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  5 місяців тому

Galeries Lafayette is on Boulevard Haussmann, which is one of what we call today in Paris, the "Grands Boulevards". It may not have been part of the original Grands Boulevards, but after being created in the 19th century, it is alaways considered by Parisians (which I am) as one of the Grands Boulevards. As you can see in Wikipedia: "However, Parisian habit also includes Boulevard Haussmann, with its department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, among the quintessential Grands Boulevards."
