It's part of what makes the Strasburg Railroad more unique, as it operates and maintains four steam engines. It's a trip back in time, albeit for just 45 minutes
I never get tired of hearing the 'ghost whistle'. It's creppy, but, at the same time, very entertaining. I wish I could get a ride on #90 and hear the 'ghost whistle' first-hand.
It’s a Strasburg tradition whenever they stop by the crossing they perform the ghost whistle usually blowing the whistle in the valley and have an echo back
@ksharkey1000, I've been on the Strasburg Railroad many, many times, and I still get a kick out of it when the conductor says, "If you think that's just an echo, it's not. We actually pay the ghost train 29.95 for every time it whistles."
@IraDeathViper As a matter of fact, no. The original comment was in response to kirbyfan600's asking if they ever have Thomas do the Ghost Whistle, which I said they do not as they only run Thomas as far as Esbenshade. There is nothing in there that has to do with Conrail or Strasburg's interchange whatsoever. Please consider reading the original comment before you go off on what you think you have the answer to
@IraDeathViper I already knew that Conrail's old-PRR route connected with the Strasburg Railroad, although the line is today used by Amtrak and Norfolk Southern. That still doesn't answer what Conrail has to do with the original comment
Bruh, this was in 2008, and the Strasbourg steam trains are still around and kickin’. AND! There are still a LOOOTTTTTTT of steam trains in the world, so shut the fuck up fortnite kid.
i found the work of art! i remember watching this without an account! good old memories by that standard

Why did the train stop right next to the railroad crossing?
CEO100able that’s how they’ve always done it.

@@kadenrobinson7067 Ah, I see. It's something unique they have for people passing by. Pretty cool!
