  • TC Electronic Corona Chorus guitar pedal is demonstrated with a couple of preset sequences from the Korg Minilogue.
    Pure and raw audio, no musical statement. I tried to focus the video on changes in the sound of the chorus effect, by downplaying the Minilogues role a bit, but it gets a bit boring if you're not keen on hearing the scope of the TC Corona.

    THANK YOU for this! i have been considering the Corona as i have 'the other' type of genuinely stereo analog chorus covered already and figured it might be time for something (affordably) new. and here, this really is some of the best chorus for synth that i've ever heard, on both gentle and dramatic settings. and when it gets intense, there are moments where it actually sounds like the Minilogue has unison detuned voices rather than what my brain recognizes as A Chorus Effect. i can't even say that about Dimension type chorus and i've been using those for a long time. i figured demos of Corona with guitar should be sufficient, but they've been pretty low effort so far.

      First off, thank you so much for your kind comment! It's exactly in hopes of this kind of sentiment, I made this kind of video. 😁
      I'm personally a huge fan of this pedal, as well as the other models from the series, and can only recommend it/them.
      While they are digital, they got a really lush and clear tone, the stereo I/O paired with the line level friendly headroom and comparably low price, seals the deal for me.

    UA-cam is a dangerous place. So many cool things demoed. Big fan of TC Electronics, considering the Reverb and Chorus (they sound great with the Minilogue). TC Electronic also make really great bass amps. Nice work, thanks.

      Indeed it is. It's way too easy to contract GAS when looking around in here 😉
      I can recommend both of them wholeheartedly, I actually use the HoF reverb as my main reverb. Got it patched in an effects-loop from my audio-interface.
      Thanks for watching and commenting 😀

    Thanks for the video demo..I've got that same synth and was wondering how that same chorus would do for it.

      Chorus is one of my favorite effects in general, this works very nicely with Minilogue, and it is especially nice for adding width and movement to pads.
      The TC Corona Chorus specifically is one of the very best chorus effects I've yet come across, highly recommended, especially paired with the Minilogue 😉

    Sweet sounding in tri cho mode, gives the Korg width, depth and movement (the swirling). Thanks Marc you've given me GAS and I've only just bought a digitech nautilus for the same purpose, hahaha. Is the toneprint a gamechanger as I find the prospect of downloading extra settings appealing (even though I am trying to move from software back to hardware)?

    • @MarctheDarc
      @MarctheDarc  6 років тому

      Tri-Cho mode is possibly the best chorus effect I've ever heard, it's so lush and warm, yet pristine.
      Toneprints are indeed a very clever solution to some of the limitations of the pedal format, calling it a gamechanger isn't entirely unreasonable, but personally I keep coming back to Tri-Cho, so despite some excellent effects being available for download, it hasn't changed that much for me with this particular pedal.
      I've recently purchased a Flashback delay pedal, I've yet to explore the toneprint options there, but have a feeling I'll be using it quite a bit.
      Thanks for watching and commenting mate 😃

      I think it's an amazing sounding chorus, especially the Tri-Chorus. Great option for adding that width and lushness to synth pads in particular.

    hi ya, iv'e been looking into chorus again for my mono synths . This to me sounds really close to the juno chorus (chorus 2) . Ive looked at many others and the TC JUNE chorus is awful imo.
    The juno chorus is so nice for a mono effect and you have set this up in mono as far i can see anyway. It sounds great Marc! Especially as it has a stereo in and out option..

    • @MarctheDarc
      @MarctheDarc  5 років тому +1

      I haven't really compared the Corona Chorus directly to the Juno chorus, but think it, despite being digital, has some of the same smooth warmth, and covers much the same purpose.
      I haven't tried the TC June yet, but doubt I'll like it. I don't follow the notion of recreating a chorus effect, that only synth people are interested in, in a pedal that's entirely made for guitarists. If it had been line-level friendly, and true stereo in/out, like the Corona, like it was supposed to, then it might've been great.
      I run the mono output of the Minilogue to the pedal, and use the stereo output form the pedal. That way it'll stereoize mono sources, for that wide effect. It's very flexible with the full stereo in/out and line-level compatibility. I can only recommend it, especially for the price they're going for these days.
      Thanks for watching, subbing and your comment 😃

      @@MarctheDarcpleasure! The JUNE chorus by TC has a really fast frQ rate , unchangeable and considerably faster than the juno's . A shame cuz its analog, could have been great. Like you say the corona sounds lovely & warm for digital and it actually seems to gain bottom end sustains top end fizz, really nice ! £80 on ebay - i'm getting one :)

    great sequences. so is this in stereo using the two outputs or yea is hard to tell for certain!?

    • @MarctheDarc
      @MarctheDarc  3 роки тому

      It is true stereo when using both outputs, as I am here, it'll even stereo-ize it nicely when feeding it a mono signal (again as I am here). However the perceived stereo width depends heavily on the setting. The basic Chorus algorithm, which the video starts with, is quite narrow. I've not used that since making this video. Both the default tone-print and Tri-Cho(rus) settings are nice and wide, unless you turn down the Tone knob. The tone knob cuts high frequencies making the sound darker, but since stereo perception are primarily based on higher frequencies... You get the picture.
      So if you've been skipping around in the video (not blaming you), you may have hit passages with a very narrow stereo image.
      And while it shouldn't happen in this day and age, UA-cam will occationally spit out mono audio at low video qualities, and/or if experiencing bandwidth issues.
      When/if using the pedal you wont be in doubt 😉 Hope that answers your question. Thank you for watching 😀

      Yeah, it's an unlucky turn of events. Doubt they can predict the future though, so it's just a coincidence. It was already not-new when I made this video 4 years ago. Maybe they named it after Corona beer.
      Regardless it's an amazing chorus at a very low price.

  • @Deisinoful

    Mhm, that pedal... €129 on Amazon... good for a thought. Too bad it isn't a "pedal", requiring the fingers to switch the settings...
    Nice demo loop.

    • @MarctheDarc
      @MarctheDarc  8 років тому +1

      +Deisinoful But then again, i can't recall ever seeing a pedal that allowed any _real_ foot control. There's some with multiple foot switches and/or the big expression pedal type. But it's all fairly simple controls that inevitably require some closer editing. And they get *big* and expensive quickly.
      I tried to focus the video on changes in the sound of the chorus effect, by downplaying the Minilogues role a bit, but it gets a bit boring if you're not keen on hearing the scope of the TC Corona.
