- [Editor's note: This video and description contain spoilers through the Yellowjackets, Season 2 Finale, “Storytelling.”]
We’ve experienced a number of devastating deaths on Yellowjackets thus far, but none quite as crushing as losing Juliette Lewis’ Natalie in Season 2, Episode 9, “Storytelling.”
The Season 2 finale culminates in another card game. While waiting for medical professionals to arrive, the present-day Yellowjackets humor Lottie (Simone Kessell) by going along with another death roulette ritual. Unaware that Van (Lauren Ambrose) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress) have canceled the request for Lottie to be taken to a psychiatric facility, Natalie, Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), and Misty (Christina Ricci) proceed with the ritual assuming Lottie will be stopped in time.
With no help coming, things spiral to the point that Callie (Sarah Desjardins) shoots Lottie in the arm, and Lisa (Nicole Maines) pulls a shotgun on Natalie. In an effort to protect her best friend, Misty attempts to stop Lisa with a lethal dose of fentanyl, but Natalie shields Lisa and is hit with the syringe instead.
While succumbing to the drug, Natalie has a vision of sorts. She’s alone on a plane until Javi (Luciano Leroux) appears and tells her, “There’s nothing to be afraid of.” Natalie insists, “I’m not supposed to be here,” but that’s when Sophie Thatcher’s Natalie appears and says, “We both know that’s not true. This is exactly where we belong. We’ve been here for years.” Natalie’s final visitor on the plane is Courtney Eaton’s Lottie who explains, “It’s not evil, just hungry, like us,” and tells her to “just let it in.” And then that’s it. Natalie’s gone.
What exactly do Lottie’s final lines to Natalie mean? We discussed just that with Eaton on Collider Ladies Night!

i'm so comforted that lottie is in the safe hands of courtney eaton. it's a character that could easily be demonised or vilified as you play her, but neither actress exhibits that when acting.
it's a mighty task to pick favourites in this show, but this season sealed it for me. lottie is my absolute number one, whatever some peculiar fans might think of her. and it wouldn't be possible without courtney!
some of the answers in the interview made me just _sad._ can't wait for season three so that i can experience the full extent of the despair.
getting spoiled by collider out here. keep 'em comin', perri!
Easily the best and most articulate interviewer
Agreed!!
Yes! Totally.
Yes. Perri is fantastic!
i’d love to see an interview with sophie thatcher i think nat is a complicated character and i want to know more abt her relationship w lottie especially after the finale
Loving all these yellowjackets interviews🫶🫶
Same here. They’re amazing
Damn, I’m so sad the season is over and we won’t get more interviews for a while 😭
Peri please do these again when season 3 eventually comes out! You’re the best at this
Courtney Eaton is a great actress. I loved her in Mad Max Fury Road and Gods Of Egypt
Me too, I can't wait to see what future projects Courtney will pop up in!
@@trinaq👍👍👍💯
Lottie 🤝Nat 🤝 Shauna
They're the only ones that have killed and bring food to everyone
Even though this series is chock full of deaths, I didn't think that they were actually going to kill off a major character in the present day storyline... Especially not Natalie. It's a shame that we won't get to see Juliette Lewis on the show any more, but hopefully adult Nat will appear in flashbacks or dream sequences.
I'm also hoping we get to see more Juliette Lewis in future episodes via flashbacks- I mean there's still 20 years of missing time from when they're rescued to the time the show starts. But the more interviews I read with Juliette the more I feel like it was her decision to leave the show more so than the writers just killing her off.
This fandom has NO KUTH about spoilers
@@goodmorningmayberry Apologies. I guess we figured if someone is watching a "Finale Interview" video that has "spoilers throughout" written on the screen and in the description, that people were aware the comment section would also have spoilers 🤷🏻♂️
@theCynicalChicken I'm not mad about it lol. We just leave no time for anyone to catch up.
I've seen in articles and interviews that have come out recently that Juliette Lewis wanted to leave, so I don't think the writers had a choice. I do wish they had written the death differently than essentially an accidental overdose though
loving all the yellowjackets content
hear me out Nat Lottie Shauna love triangle😁
I'M ALL EARS MATE
And what do we do with Travis? Lol
@@maleg.v well young lottie did show up in nat's death scene in the plane but not travis 🤷♀️ idk
@@hh-ug4kiok but Javi did too lmao
@@maleg.vnothing because he sucks??
probably in season 3 lottie and natalie gonna spend more time together
A subset of fans of this show really get Lottie wrong almost willfully (ignoring clear evidence all along the way) and it's sometimes hard to ignore. Interviews with Courtney about Lottie are so encouraging and comforting for those of us who have seen what she's truly about all along. Thank you Perri for asking the truly important questions to foster more media literacy.
I get what you’re saying but she was straight going to kill Shauna in the finale or did I misunderstand that?
@@highjinx6519 From Lottie’s knowing smiles when they stopped her from drinking and when she snuggled upto the cabinet Misty broke into, I really got the impression that she knew exactly how that night was going to end, with “it” intervening ultimately.
@@highjinx6519 she was in psychosis which the adults pretty much triggered i believe. she felt that she's not well in episode 7 and told them to leave but they stayed anyway. again, she's not innocent, her actions can cause damage. but i don't think any really had malicious intent so far. she truly believed this entity is "back". if you watch closely during the cards scene, she even seems almost disappointed not pulling the queen of hearts.
@@trashysnacks probably so but she also knows that will end in one of her friends dying and is happy to go along with it.
@@hh-ug4ki I can go with that and as far as her being sick it’s really on the other girls, especially Van. She’s probably the most at fault although I don’t know what the hell was up with Nat & Misty going along with it once Shauna drew the card.
Is Courtney doing a mixture of different accents? Don't get me wrong, it sounds beautiful. Like Lauren Cohan's.
😜 go perri!
this is everything! such thoughtful questions and interesting answers. a lot to mull over while we wait for season 3!
So we have Samantha/Christina, now we had Jasmin Liv and Courtney, hopefully we would get Tawny Lauren and Simone
Love these interviews!
Even the writers of the shows have confused her
Perfect interview as always I love Yellowjackets
"that's curious" 😏
