Nice video there. I originally thought when I saw the thumbnail that 3801 and R766 were running on dual gauge tracks, but I guess not since apparently R766 was converted to standard gauge. Pretty cool seeing a broad gauge engine on standard gauge tracks, especially since Australia is one of (if not the only) country that still uses broad gauge as a main railroad gauge.
Hi nwr1991 I'm bradley I'm here to correct an error it was April 1993 with triple parallel run 3801 K183 & R766 and K183 and R766 double-headed on the trip back from Seymour to Melbourne with 3801
Went there on the Saturday and had the time of my life although it was bleeding hot. Me and my family were mostly inside and actually saw a line side fire either 3526 or 3001 started. near the Thirlmere station
Hey, that boy riding on the traction engine(showman’s engine) Pride of Scotland,NWR1991, That was ME!!! And me blowing a little three stooges theme on the whistle at the end
Phenomenel video there. Spewing i didn't go to it this year. Great footages and teriffic narrative here on your videos. If i may. At 18:26 Just a minor correction. When The Millennium Aurora hauled by 3801 & 3830 in April 2000 to Melbourne. It was running parralel run with R761 & R711. Not R766.
Glad to be a help, thanks for the shout out. Out of curiosity, how bad is the mechanical fault for R766? Is that bad that the locomotive was out of commission for the majority of the day.
The bloke who was operating it didn’t own it and so technically couldn’t give out rides to the public, but I helped and volunteered to help top up his coal bunker by assisting in loading it, Gundagai Coal is incredibly dirty
good stuff mate steamfest this year was awsome

Oh, thanks for the correction ;)
@@NWR1991 no worries mate. ^_^ happy to help. That was history in the making event to have an R class double head with a 38.
Glad to be a help, thanks for the shout out.

From what I'd heard it was involved with a piston ring in the locomotive. Best to get the info from The Picnic Train who operate R766.
@@NWR1991 I've tried contacting The Picnic Train many time, but they never replied back.
And so he let me ride it
