TERRY FOX: THE POWER OF ONE

Beloved Canadian Terry Fox dipped his toe in the Atlantic Ocean 41 years ago to embark on one of the most courageous and selfless journeys in the history of all athletes. On August 9th, 2021, Terry Fox: The Power of One will bring our country together from coast to coast to coast for a 60 minute commercial free celebration of what he accomplished and to call all Canadians to action to finish the job that he started - finding a cure for cancer. This television event will reignite Canadians to support Terry's original vision and donate $1 to Cancer Research per Canadian to further achieve his dream. Inspired by his audacious spirit, the special will include performances, story-telling and celebrity testimonials that will celebrate and invigorate Terry's aspirations while bringing all Canadians together to honour his legacy. Terry’s passionate call to action of “do what you can and give what you can” will ignite “The Power of One” while we as a united country answer his personal request to "carry on without him" and finally find a cure for cancer.

Terry Fox was such an inspiration to not only Canadians, but Americans as well. I found out about him from the HBO movie “The Terry Fox story”. I was so moved from that movie, and heartbroken when I found out that he had passed from cancer. His story is still moving to me today. I got to see his van, and his memorial statue on Victoria Island BC. I just wish he could have made it all the way, but I think he made it to were the good lord needing him to make it to. He had other plans for him. I also wished he could have married, have children, grandchildren, and grow old. God bless you Terry, you are really and truly missed here.
