    I’m blown away while working on my Sonic 1.8 by how stupidly hard it is to work on. I’m never getting another car with an engine bay that small.

    Thank you so much for posting this. I am doing this job for someone right now. I was hoping that the cylinder head would come out with the intake attached. Maybe it can? Looks like I could remove the 2 boats from underneath, and it might would come out with the cylinder head.

    Can you update the video to show that this method of removal will NOT work on 1.8 Chevy sonic. Only way to remove the intake manifold on that model is to remove the drive shaft and drop from bottom. Learned this the hard way..

    • @jimmyclaar8111
      @jimmyclaar8111 Рік тому

      I don't understand isn't it the same set up to be exact

    • @jimmyhassell1438
      @jimmyhassell1438 Рік тому

      @@jimmyclaar8111 same mechanics like engine but the body is different. The sonic doesn't give enough clearance through the top of the engine so the way your supposed to do it is you have to drop the drive shaft and remove from the bottom. You can technically with the help of a friend, remove from the top by loosening the engine mount bolts, pull the engine toward you while someone pulls the manifold out from behind but like I said that's not the way your supposed to lol.

    • @christyjeter1560

      I thought this car was a 2012 chevy sonic

    • @jimmyhassell1438
      @jimmyhassell1438 10 місяців тому

      @@christyjeter1560 no, actually the car shown in the video is a Chevrolet Cruze like stated in the title. The Cruze and Sonic are nearly identical with a few cosmetic changes to the body. Such as in this example, the Cruze has more clearance in the engine bay allowing the manifold enough room to be removed from the top. The sonic has less space to work with so the manual tells you to remove it from underneath the car which is obviously more difficult.

    Why don’t you remove the fuel rail? I’m about to replace the intake manifold on my car so I’m making a list of procedures, tools, materials, and parts I’ll need. I’ve seen others replace the o-rings from the fuel injectors after they pull the rail. Best procedure to do is always replace o-rings after breaking that seal. I do HVAC/R work, little plumbing, electrical, mechanical and refrigeration. If anyone has done this can you reply with issues and road unos you may have occurred during this replacement. Also good things to do while having the intake out, such as replacing hoses or sensors while I’m opening up.

    Does the 1.8L intake manifold have the little orange thing that cause engine problems? I have a 2013 cruze 1.8L. I have to change my pcv in the valve cover. I just want to make sure if i do or do not have to change my intake as well. I undersatnd they are both connected issues in the 1.4L... but not enough information on if it is the same for the 1.8L. Please help me.

      @celiawinkle83 Місяць тому

      You can do the valve cover without doing anything regarding the intake if it's just you pvc valve. I have never worked on a vehicle in my life and followed the videos in regards to my vehicle a 2011 Chevy Cruze & fixed it. Look up all videos on it. This is way more complicated I need to change my gaskets on the intake manifold due to other problems. Your pvc connected to the valve cover it's all one big part you'll need to order a valve cover with pre installed gaskets and some sealant I got all my stuff off Amazon fairly cheap

      I just did this replacement, and this video was extremely helpful, but i did not drain the coolant. Took off the coolant overflow hose from the reservoir side and rotated it out of the way then disconnected the pcv line from the valve cover, loosened all the bolts on the throttle body and with the air intake tube disconnected from the air filter box the throttle buddy rotated out of the way.
