It's my first time seeing what She Hulk is all about...so I actually found the episode a little quick, but still great! I feel like I'm caught up to speed on who she is and looking forward to episode 2, at this rate...and I know it's early...but it might turn out to be my favourite (there's a U in there cuz I'm canadian) show...we'll see by the end if it's better than Loki. I love Loki, but it's already hard to choose between those two personalities and she's only had 30ish minutes!
I know he was close to Natasha but I never got the impression the Avengers were even that close tbh.. when they were in the Avengers movies they referred to each other as “Family” but they only gathered occasionally then didn’t help each other when they needed it.
@@firstlast9846 it is implied that they spent a lot of time together in between the movies. Like them eating swarma together at the end of the first Avengers. That was their initial coming together of the 'family'
I personally feel that Jen is doing the “I am fine” thing we do sometimes where we just push through things until something big slaps in our face showing us we weren’t entirely fine and didn’t have complete control. Im not saying this is for sure but I can understand it. Sometimes when you’re used to just busting down walls you start thinking there no wall that can stop you. Idk maybe Im over thinking😂😂
yes, she is in denial and she is telling the story from her side. Bruce may have a different perspective. Plus, she was a little prideful, just a smidge and I dare to venture, she may be in for a rude awakening.
The Incredible Hulk movie established that exposure to Hulk's blood is a bad thing so it makes sense that Bruce in the MCU wouldn't give his blood to anyone. She Hulk's rapid adjustment to her situation is similar to the comics so no issues there but Bruce's warning about controlling her strength in public could come back to bite her.
first of all The Incredible Hulk and MCU hulk are the same., MCU change the actor only and the remain Hulk and incredible hulk are same., for clarification u see SHE HULK first not interested to take case for ABOMINATION in the trailer., because she was saying that abomination was attack bruce in the past she said only pls watch the trailer.,
If the accident was violent enough that Bruce had no choice to transfuse her with his blood or let her die I think they could have made it better. The episode is quite short so it's not like they didn't have time for a longer scene. Just have her badly injured with Bruce all right and forced to transfuse her. He'd know it's a bad idea but with no choice then he'd just to it so his cousin doesn't die. Here it just feels to simple and too fast. For the fast adaptation, in the comics from the qr code she doesn't seem to have that much control. And as said in the video, she doesn't have any thing to overcome and we still don't really know what will happen in the rest of the season. For a pilote, it kinda lacks motives for the main character.
The problem is that Bruce has had a mental disorder due to him being abused as a child. It's sort of like Stephen Grant. He made a new personality to "protect" him
Like Luke Skywalker said “Your overconfidence is your weakness”. I hope that is the case with She-Hulk where she becomes so confident in her abilities that it ends up backfiring on her, causing her to listen to Bruce’s advice and learn how to use her powers responsibly and controlled.
if they care about the comics and the characters and not pushing an agenda maybe. but this is Disney. its already starting off shaky with that "control emotions scene" which is cringy asf as Bruce has far greater trauma in his life where he should be destroying the planet but Jen: cat calling and incompetent male colleagues, yeah she is far better at that than Bruce.
@@numvrcgreenvilleent1892 I think it's just because of the amount of radiation in his blood diluted the effect, so it should be 'easier' for her. We've only seen 1 episode so far.
When ever Bruce is shown on screen, he reflects and shows the connects between everyone. He is one of the few who has had a genuine connection in someway with almost every Avenger
Watch the opening line. Her flaw that she has to overcome is that she is a hypocrite. She gets powers, and immediately wants to ignore it and not save the world. Her speech for the closing statements begin by saying people with powers are expected to protect those without. Sure, nothing bad happens when she becomes a hulk, but we are here to see the next big hero and she doesn’t want it. Episode one was about Denial, and by the last we will get Acceptance.
@@zyrlmilesaguitong1598 "oh no, you don't like this show that is based on tearing down men? What a misogynist!" Look I could overlook the blatant attacks on men if the show was actually good, but it just isn't. The cgi still sucks and the writing is almost Taika Watiti levels of bad. *Almost.* Cause there's still some leeway before that terrible benchmark.
I do think there is room for growth. Typically with characters that are so good naturally at everything they do, that comes with arrogance and hubris. Which I think was displayed in this first episode. Now the key is, you need to have something happen which humbles that hubris and takes her down a notch. Like have her do exactly what Bruce was afraid of, accidentally hurt some innocent people. We will see if they go that route
I agree, feels like the (narrative) motivation for why she is so good at 'everything' (besides accepting criticism from Bruce) is so she can be a new cocky superhero, cause some damage, and learn not to assume she is always in control. Her attitude in the Dan Slott run is very much that she loses her inhibitions when acting as JenHulk she's sometimes narcissistic, she has difficulty restraining herself, from partying, drinking, etc. it seems like this Ep. 1 cockiness will play right into the arrogance resolution arc, if she has this "superhero complex" of being the best Hulk, she will be blind to the new problems her brand of Hulk presents.
I loved how you can see Bruce trying to stay calm during their fight. And to be part of the quiet majority, I agree she'll get fired next episode, and have to go thru her trial by fire throughout the season.
@@therealmr.incredible3179 I watched it. Her story just started. I am autistic, so I have a much better understanding, just because I am not bogged down by calling a female character a mary sue with zero concerete evidence. My enjoyment matters, not your opinion. It never has compared to my enjoyment. Your opinion is the size of a peon next to the size of a universe.
Hopefully I get this in before anyone else….the captain America / showgirl comment helps confirm a long running theory. In Captain America, the show girl who flirts with him is the same actress ( Laura Haddock )who played Meredith Quill, Peter Quills mother. The theory is that she was Star Lords grandmother, and therefore him having a genetic trace of super soldier in him is what enabled him to survive to adulthood and why Ego was ready to use him as intended. Granted, it’s still a thin theory, but got a lot more substance with this post credit scene!
I don't know if you remembered Tony stating to Bruce that it would be so much better for him 'to be sipping margaritas on a beach turning brown instead of green'. I immediately remembered that from AAOU upon seeing the beach bar, along with the fact that Tony built the facility.
There's plenty of room to grow for Walters, as in the books it's not about getting used to being a Hulk, it's getting used to being pigeonholed as a Hulk. Her focus is on her career as a lawyer, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they play it out. Slott wrote a great story arc for her, and they can use parts of that and expand on them.
I wasn’t excited for this series but the first episode had me chuckling and I found the whole set up entertaining. To be honest I quite like the fact that they’ve gone straight in there rather than dragging out she hulk getting used to her powers. I think the character growth will come from her trying to balance her two roles. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the series after this episode 😁
Her flaw is her hubris which Bruce actually repeatedly points out, but she's also overcome barriers during the course of her career which are likely to re-emerge in the storyline
I really hope they tell us more about the Sakarian ship. It seemed kinda like they were just gonna forget it about it when Bruce said he need to look into it.
That to me signals they’re gonna revisit it. They could’ve ignored it outright but mentioning it and sakaar specifically plus Several little quips like “hulk rage” and him being angry all gives me hope for world war hulk
Ship randomly shows up, causes them to crash brutally, dissappear. Bruce passes it off as something he'll get around to sometime, Sakaar ship also just loses interest I guess?.. it's not like whoever traveled across the cosmos to find Hulk or anything. Dumpster fire logic a d storytelling(lack of)
19:15 Well, to be fair, Bruce knows how toxic his blood is and if they follow the origin from the comic book there is no chance in hell he would ever give Jennifer his own blood no matter the circumstances. The only caveat they could've used to make that happen is Bruce believing that his inhibitor could negate the Gamma in his blood so wouldn't be transferred to Jennifer. But again, that would be a gamble that, after 15 years of being the Hulk, and having to wear that device to keep himself human, Bruce would never take.
Captain America can f… me. Pin me with his shield and put his soldier weapon in me and I get his super serum. After 70 rounds he leans to my ear, warm breath felt on the ears as Steve mutters “I can do this all day”
You mention Wanda showing opportunity for growth in Wandavision, but that's certainly not in the first couple of episodes. So why do you view She Hulk differently? And Wanda had a very damaged history, something that Jen does not - indeed she's already a successful, intelligent woman before being hulked.
I believe the issues he's having is the "everything you can do I can do better" portion of the origin. Most super heroes spend a bit of time learning their powers, failing, and then getting better. Here she has no trouble burning though the early stages: keeping her anger mostly in check, learns all of Bruce's moves in the first or second try, and proceeds to reduce his years of struggle into a weekend training montage. It almost gives her a Mary Sue feeling, on the other hand there are more episodes to come so hopefully she learns a bigger lesson and the speed run origin can just be seen as being done for laughs.
@@TheRealAlpha2 I agree with most of that. I do caution on the "Mary Sue" thing because the first time I heard it was with the presentation of Ray from The Force Awakens and if you watch the first introduction of Luke in Star Wars (they added "A New Hope" later) he had less of a backstory. It was just sexist drivel- Moving on. No hero is fun without a personal challenge and they really need to find one here because the first episode checked off most of them. A disruptive allergy to something common would do, like cat hair making her phase in and out.
@@TheRealAlpha2 yup that’s what turned me off was it continued to scream Mary Sue and I was like, noooo this is an important character don’t do this! Humans even super ones have faults and take time to learn skills. Her even not being able to do one thing and Hulk being like ‘You’ll get it’ then at the end of the episode she uses that skill to fight the chick would have been good. There is 0 emotional pay off with her having no growth and immediately being able to do everything it’s taken Bruce 15 years to learn at times. It just doesn’t feel earned and you need that to identify with a character
@@MrEiniweini I mean Mary Sue is a very very old term. It’s just many didn’t know it existed until recently. In this she is exactly what a Mary Sue is, perfect at everything, learns new skills immediately and thus isn’t relatable. It’s not a degrading term as it may have been used against Rei, it is a character trope that’s existed for a long time and tends to be because of authors self inserting with their lead characters. I’ve been a part of fanfic and writing for 20 years now and Mary Sue has been a term used readily that entire time. It’s useful and it is very true that’s what they have sadly done with her so far, I hope they fix it because the character deserves better.
I suspect the "growth" will come a bit later once she gets hired as the face of the superhero dept thing from the trailers. She doesn't want to be a superhero but having to work with all the others will make her face up to her situation. Titania was totally wasted so hopefully she's in more than one episode.
Agreed. This episode was setup. Establish that Jennifer could be a very capable superhero, but prefers to live as a lawyer. The challenge will likely be a conflict between her lawyer life with her powers and what others expect from her as a hulk superhero/celebrity.
I don't think Titania will be the main villain, she comes up too early, just like Hayward, he who remains, konshu or king pin, there will be a bigger villain in this series.
I am crazy about Jameela Jamil so I definitely hope Titania has a bigger role in this series. The VFX people didn't do the best job in this episode (I literally just now finished watching it during my lunch hour). Hoping that gets better, too.
Y'all I'm not going to lie I was very negative about this show up until this point expecting it to be pretty bad and I'm happy to say that I was proven wrong and I laughed so much more than the entirety of Thor love and Thunder. The references were amazing and the dynamic between Jennifer Walters and Bruce had me hooked I really liked this first episode and I hope it doesn't go downhill from here because this in my opinion was a strong start. Feel free to disagree but I had a lot of fun!
The best and my absolute favorite part of this episode was every moment between Jennifer and Bruce! Their back and forth is so believable I buy that they're cousins.
Man all I can say what an episode looking forward for episode 2. It was a great orgin story for Jessica Walter's alot of Easter eggs references. Love the post credit scene as well when Jessica Walter's keep calling Steve Roger's an Virgin too.
15:30 disagree, i love a reluctant hero story! theyre often good at what they do but want todo something else, and i think thats relatable too. and i didnt find “lawyer gets mansplained to at work” and “woman gets hit on at a bar by drunk men” in the same day, as heavy handed as you do. it IS an every day thing if you have a life that demands you be social.
Dude, you’re UA-cam Hulk, completely insane on how fast you get these videos out. I wake up at 4am to watch these marvel shows and you have these videos uploaded by the time I’m done watching. Thanks for the hard work, you monster.
I do think the episode needed to be at least 15 min longer. The “fight” at the end seemed rushed. I know they just wanted an tease that her life is t going to be as non-hulky as she wanted but I think they should have expanded upon that a bit more.
I think they did the first episode pretty decently. We don't always want that typical origin story with the flawed hero who then finds their feet. Let's cut straight to the chase.
@@chotamayo7454 Yeah, except exactly the opposite. Pacing was dynamic and fit the genre. Definitely unlike a Disney kid show, where they don't talk about people having sex.
Little disappointing that you glossed over what makes Jennifer so angry. That wasn't a cheesy "girl's get it done" moment, but rather a great example of what women go through all the time. It wasn't heavy handed. It's the truth. The terrible, awful truth.
I can tell I'm really going to be enjoying this series, episode one was a really easy watch. I really enjoyed how they got She Hulk's origin out of the way and focused on how she uses her powers and how she handles emotional distress differently than Bruce. I also really like how much Bruce misses Tony and how close they were as scientists, teammates and as friends.
@@putalover4519 There was no cringe feminism. Sorry you go into Misogyny Mode if a woman expresses her point of view and poor men get their knuckles dirty. Guess you haven't watched any TV or movies in the past 40 years.
@@r.leebrown4978 really? Sexualising a man’s body constantly and the prop team having feminist literature in the background as if it’s a personality trait, isn’t a feminist message?
I think they did setup a major flaw in her character which is her overconfidence and showing that she can apparently do everything better. I’m sure that attitude will bite her in later episodes.
I agree! She's a little immature, how old is she supposed to be? The end credits scene was really funny though! I do hope this is seen as a flaw, and not a "she's perfect because women can do anything" kinda deal
They knocked this out of the park. If you complain about "cgi" you just hate women. Show looks great and they ended with Eve. Clap it up. I can't wait to see Daredevil. This felt like a comic just like Deadpool and gave us a great look at Hulks story/future as well.
*So has Banner effectively murdered Hulk’s consciousness* ? Because if he can merge his body with his own mind - where is Hulk? Did he push him to the back of his mind - cos that’s a lot darker than what I think the writer’s intended.
From what I gathered, Bruce used a very specific term that’s usually used when talking about DID. He said he “integrated” the two identities. Which means that Banner and Hulk combined their identities into one consciousness to become the primary Protector. If we are getting WW Hulk, then they will probably split again or we’ll get a Immortal Hulk/Maestro situation where the two agree on total destruction. Plus Joe Fixit and a few other identities haven’t been present as of yet.
Theo Leuterio - it’s not that deep - the writers didn’t put that much effort into writing it.. there’s no DID term - I think he just genuinely meshed the two identities together - but even then he’s more Banner than Hulk - so Hulk’s pretty much suppressed and gone.
Honestly, this is my favourite review channel of them all! You add some funny as hell commentary that keeps me coming back, forgetting your wedding day for the first wandavision episode had me in stitches… you and your team keep up the great work
I enjoyed it and I really do hope we get to see more of Bruce throughout the series, not outshining jen tho, just have him in there enough to be a secondary character
Great start to the series, funny and refreshing. I’m just gonna name that device seeing as it wasn’t named already, Rage Regulator😬. Great start to the series.
I really enjoyed this first installment. Though it came off very basic on the surface, but there was a ton to unpack in the details of this episode. I can’t wait to see where they take us on this journey! Thank you for the excellent breakdown. Cheers Paul!👊😎
The season is only 8 episodes. The story of wanting to come to terms with the curse of being Hulk is Bruce’s story. Plus, this origin is told via flashback of a character narrating via 4th wall break, so it’s most likely her interpretation of the events. Also,I think this episode has to do a lot of expositional narrative lifting, and getting it all out of the way now gives them the room to tell the story they want to.
Sasquatch (Alpha Flight) attempted to use gamma radiation to become a Hulk, which is his origin story. This would be a good opportunity to bring him into the MCU. It would be a weird direction for Marvel to go, but if Marvel can make Alpha Flight relevant, they can make anything relevant.
I thought how they established She Hulk was great. Getting the same drawn out story arch can get boring. We already saw the trials and tribulations of a hulk via Bruce. Now they can explore other nuances and stories. Also, this show is meant to be different. I applaud Marvel for trying some other avenues of story telling. Even if it doesn’t always land 100%, it is apparent they are exploring new ways to tell new stories. I’m sure some heavy stakes will come into play.
This series also has more episodes than other Disney+ shows, so they can take things a little slower. I enjoyed this episode as well. It was funny, chill, and a great introduction into the character. The antagonist doesn't always have to show up in episode one.
AGREE. Bruce is trying to give wholesome support and guidance, but She-Hulk is clearly different. I would like to hear Bruce (Smart Hulk) clarify why he lost to Thanos.
It's nice that she got her powers and accepted all that and got training very fast in one episode. Leaves room for some super hero activities finally. It's been a while since some of those were in marvel stuff. Looking at you moon knight who was moon knight for maybe 10-15 minutes through entire season.
When they revealed the avenger memorial in Hawkeye, and the stark helmet now, they keep giving us glimpses of how the OG remaining avengers are mourning. We want them to see them mourn. They didn't have Thor even mention his earth family.
I think the accidental blood swapping makes more sense than the comics version with a blood transfusion, because Bruce wouldn't voluntarily give away his blood. We see him destroy some in this episode.
@@Tone_Of_Dials I'm talking about MCU Bruce. Not Comics Bruce. We see him destroying blood samples in this very episode. We see him upset over blood samples in the 2008 movie. It's not a assumption.
My only stupid criticism is I wish they would show her needing to adjust to her 1000th percent increase in physical strength. Like needing to learn to pick up a glass with out breaking etc...otherwise not bad.....I think she will come crawling back to Bruce. His warnings to her will come back to haunt her. She is young and arrogant.
To the point re: “character flaws” the entire gist was that she doesn’t have an alter ego bc of how she got the powers to begin with. Therefore, it’s easier for her to wrangle her powers in the first ep. Putting an end to the toxic “Mary sue” arguments before they have time to get started 😅 also, you mentioned at the end that origin stories aren’t that exciting to you, so why would you be mad if they skip all that nonsense? Absolutely love your page for literally every show, but your analysis is so contradictory here.
I think it makes more sense how she got her powers in the show cause Bruce would never willingly give her a blood transfusion after everything being Hulk put him through and the danger it represents... I liked the middle finger scene, I hope the MCU does more mature stuff in the future and not stick to Disney's kids only policy
I thought it was pretty clear that her growth will come from accepting that she's hulk, honestly feels pretty familiar to some stories I've heard about accepting disability. You can go back to what you were doing but things will be different.
We need an apology for your sexism. I'm just playing, but I think that her flaw is that she feels like she is perfect, and we will slowly see her unfold her struggles of being a woman, lawyer, and now a hulk. Loved the first episode tho.
I really like this 1st episode and that from the next ep on they can focus on the Story, the cases and so on... cos we already got the origin stuff👍🏻 So the episode did a good job😀
Basically I see this going down as the movie “liar liar” he gets what he thinks to be cursed. struggles with it and about loses everything. Finally gets a grasp on it and uses what originally seen as a hinderance is now makes him better then before.
I understand the point of a character arc, but with Prey, there’s a couple hours to sort out that arc. Here, we have an 8 episode, presumably 8 hour total span of storytelling, so surely it will feel a lot slower
Really went into this with an open-mind and was quite surprised, its funny, lightheaded and had a few good scenes, happily watch the rest of the season happily. Big ups Def.💯👊🏾
Have to admit I was very sceptical about the series, in my mind give me back angry Hulk and not some comedy, glad my thoughts were wrong and I actually really loved the first ep. Was also sort of afraid the CGI would suck and also that worked out really great. Can't wait till the next ep.
Also, I would disagree with how you feel about the character development here, I would not consider this single episode her "origin story", because this whole series will show her development of her actual full acceptance of being a Super Heroin as well as a Lawyer. I know we love a full back story sometimes, but with 6 or so episodes and a couple phases to set up. I am glad they spent little time on the "merging hulk" aspect and pushed straight towards her integration into the MCU world. Otherwise most of the series may have been her isolated, like Bruce. We don't need that. Also, there is still tons of room for struggle being as she brushed passed most of the training to quickly get back to her reality. Which I am sure is bound to take a turn as more and more people are aware of her.
I like the bittersweet vibes whenever Bruce mentions Tony. Ruffalo played the "just lost most of his only friends but is trying to look fine," role very well.
@@BetaBreaking Yeah, really made that moment where Jen hammered in the fact that he's alone and is not dealing with his trauma properly more impactful.
so the Hulk can save Bruce stop a bullet, chew it up and spit it out, as stated in the first Avengers.... but a car wreck makes Bruce bleed profusely and transmit infect other?
Apparently Bruce was just "hulk-splaining" everything...but Jen knew everything already, and was better than Hulk in every way. Reminds me of the Luke Skywalker and Rey dynamic in TLJ...*YAWN* Will force myself through this like Ms. Marvel, just to casually stay up to date with the MCU storyline and easter eggs, but nothing more.
I saw it as more of a look at it how Bruce just assumed she would have the same problems that she went through in integrating the Hulk and dealing with the Hulk’s tendencies, which she obviously didn’t have a problem with, and I enjoyed the fact that he kept trying to out do her in strength and she just kicked his ass pretty much everything. It would be nice to see Mark Ruffalo in more than this one episode.
I’m not big on this series tbh. It felt overly feminist and sloppy. There was nothing that made it felt that I urgently needed to find out what happens. Although I do think that the reason she can handle her anger and whatever is because bruce altered his hulk in avengers to be able to be something other than a mindless rage monster, so it seems obvious that she would have that ability too. However it was very flat and lack lustre having her experience no struggles
I totally agree with what you mentioned about Wanda and Loki. I somehow felt that they would portray Jen as having and automatic edge over everything that Bruce spent years mastering both as himself and as Hulk. I was like “I knew it”.
There's GROWTH in that she's arrogant at this point. She's going to be taken down a few notches. That's where her growth will lie. Her speech about women controlling their anger is spot on. I liked that part of the episode. You sound like a Debbie Downer. Give the show time.
Great first episode. I think they just wanted to get the origin out of the way, so we do t have the same type of origin story marvel creates. I like the tone of the show too. So I think growth will come differently, maybe more on how Jennifer accepts herself and how society accepts her. Time will tell! Last but the least the casting and CGi were on point
Love your videos as always! Just making a small friendly correction: Mexico is not located in south America, south America encompasses those countries from the Panama Canal downwards basically 😁
I do believe that the cameos have been the best part of the MCU and that why phase 4 has not been as well received. Looks like Marvel themselves have realised this with all the cameos in this series. It's a shame that were waiting for other characters instead of making the star of the show more interesting but I've come to terms with it now. That's Marvel.
@@therealmr.incredible3179 id of thought it would be sooner rather than later, I'm not sure how they would work Matt into the story as he's in New York and Jennifer is in California.
YOU MEAN MSHEU AND THE REASON PHASE BOAR HAS BEEN SO BAD IS BECAUSE FANS LIKE YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WATCHING THIS WON'T STAND UP THEY KEEP LETTING MARVEL PISS IN THEIR FOOD AND SAY IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T EAT IT
Disagreed. People complained about lack of cameos in Dr strange 2 and Thor 4, they wanted more. Also Phase 4 gave us more new characters then ever and Eternals itself had 0 previous characters in the movie something they never do...
Cameos are very different than certain characters appearing in movies/tv series. For example RDJ showing up in the 1st spider-man movie. This was done to help carry the movie. With Holland being an unknown to many fans Marvel wasn't sure how well the movie would do. It also played into the story as Stark being a mentor to Peter. Now this is different than say the MoM cameos. Those were true cameos. A few mins screen time and done. In my opinion Hulk, Wong, Abomination, Daredevil and whoever else are in this series to help carry it. Hulk is one of the most well known iconic character and people will tune in if he's present.
Damn Paul, are you sure we watched the same show? I really loved it! I may be a little biased because I have been in love with Tatiana Maslany ever since Orphan Black. I thought she great in this and I can’t wait for more. I laughed my ass off at the after credit scene too.
Just because an actor you like is in something doesn't mean it's good. The one thing I've learned after the last 3 trash D+ Marvel shows is never commit to watching a new show until after 6 episodes have aired. That way you can really tell if the supportive comments are just hype bots or actually authentic
I guess it doesn't really matter to me if she starts out perfect... sometimes that makes it more interesting when later on they become imperfect with the right circumstances later. So there is still time. And I really like that she is so balanced and cool right out of the gate.
The way I saw the part with Jen being really good right away, is when there's a group of people learning a new sport there's often someone with some natural talent. That gives them overconfidence and they stop listening to the instructors and that gets them in trouble. The show gave some strong hints that this is the case, that Jen got dealt a good hand and it has made her overconfident, which is going to bite her in the rear later
I actually don't mind that they are setting her up as a seemingly 'perfect' hulk right now. Because I think what they want is the focus to be on her story and the aspect of her herself not focusing on her hulk aspect while everyone else does. The opposite of Bruce who obsessed over his hulk form. We get a bit of duality with this.
Man, it’s the first episode. Relax. Everyone’s growth story doesn’t have to be the same. You know, start off flawed and learns a lesson. That would be so boring. People are different and have different things to go through. I believe her arc will be something different. Perhaps learning what it means to be a super hero. Maybe there’s no “growth” theme at all and it’s just a fun show - and that would be okay. I appreciate them going another route. I really loved the episode and looking forward to the rest. Plus I’m biased as a huge Tatiana Maslany fan.
I’m not sure if this comment will come off well but just know I don’t mean it in an aggressive manner. I believe if you took some time to discuss this episode with some women it would really help you understand the subtext you seemed to have missed through the show. I know not every show is for everyone, but I think there’s some early nods to character that you’re missing. It may be due to your bias in the comics but I do hope to see your perspective widen with this series. I felt the same with your overview of Ms. Marvel, and I think some wider discussion could really help. Cheers mate.
I have loved She-Hulk since I was about 12 years old. I read all of her comic books and thought she was amazing. 30 years later she's got a show and i love everything about it. I hope they develop this show well and it gets a renewed season (or 10). To me it's like a dream!
I loved this episode. Nothing you said bothered me at all. I'm surprised how much I liked it and I feel like they did a great job in such a small run time

Another reason I love Banner's arc and stories, he's the most emotional character of the MCU.
Yea but he loves his cousin .. he don’t want her to go threw anything like he did .
I know he was close to Natasha but I never got the impression the Avengers were even that close tbh.. when they were in the Avengers movies they referred to each other as “Family” but they only gathered occasionally then didn’t help each other when they needed it.
@@firstlast9846 yup fast and furious are more family than this
@@firstlast9846 it is implied that they spent a lot of time together in between the movies.
100% agree. I get Tony Stark vibes from her (in a good way).
I thought of Tony too! He was cocky at first too, flying near that jet and going to that village, that was irresponsible for someone with that power
yes, she is in denial and she is telling the story from her side.
She Hulk's rapid adjustment to her situation is similar to the comics so no issues there but Bruce's warning about controlling her strength in public could come back to bite her.
first of all The Incredible Hulk and MCU hulk are the same., MCU change the actor only and the remain Hulk and incredible hulk are same.,
for clarification u see SHE HULK first not interested to take case for ABOMINATION in the trailer., because she was saying that abomination was attack bruce in the past she said only pls watch the trailer.,
100%
@@Bloodlf nahh i like this version of how she became She Hulk, no need emotional action
It certainly does in the comics - she has some struggles between her two personas.
And she does eventually go savage.
if they care about the comics and the characters and not pushing an agenda maybe. but this is Disney. its already starting off shaky with that "control emotions scene" which is cringy asf as Bruce has far greater trauma in his life where he should be destroying the planet but Jen: cat calling and incompetent male colleagues, yeah she is far better at that than Bruce.
I think Jen is going to struggle because She Hulk is more popular than Jen is.

Watch the opening line. Her flaw that she has to overcome is that she is a hypocrite. She gets powers, and immediately wants to ignore it and not save the world. Her speech for the closing statements begin by saying people with powers are expected to protect those without.

I really like the part when she said "it's she-hulkin time"

Heh. Funny meme...
Not at all.
I think it’s setting up world war hulk
maybe he gives her a call in the last post credits scene about it?
That to me signals they’re gonna revisit it. They could’ve ignored it outright but mentioning it and sakaar specifically plus Several little quips like “hulk rage” and him being angry all gives me hope for world war hulk
"A good story, for another time".
But in the comics, Bruce DID give his cousin a blood transfusion when she needed it.

You mention Wanda showing opportunity for growth in Wandavision, but that's certainly not in the first couple of episodes. So why do you view She Hulk differently? And Wanda had a very damaged history, something that Jen does not - indeed she's already a successful, intelligent woman before being hulked.
To be fair, this is an origin story. Wanda has had her growth up until then.

I don’t think they could do with the comic book origin because Banner has established he is very aware of his blood and what could happen.

Also, there is still tons of room for struggle being as she brushed passed most of the training to quickly get back to her reality.

not gon lie the first episode was better then i expected
Thank you for giving honest feedback and valid criticism. None of the other channels do it and I don't watch them anymore. Mad respect to you sir.
Thank you
There's GROWTH in that she's arrogant at this point.
Wouldn't she be more shocked that she all of a sudden got incredible powers? She's way too calm with that much power
Dammit Paul I'm in the middle of something... I watched She Hulk but not ready for you Video yet
Same here😂👌🏼
"Godspeed, Paul." 😯👍🏻
Love your videos as always! Just making a small friendly correction: Mexico is not located in south America, south America encompasses those countries from the Panama Canal downwards basically 😁
I do believe that the cameos have been the best part of the MCU and that why phase 4 has not been as well received. Looks like Marvel themselves have realised this with all the cameos in this series. It's a shame that were waiting for other characters instead of making the star of the show more interesting but I've come to terms with it now. That's Marvel.
Do you know when Daredevil will appear? I really hope they don’t mess him up. But that’s a Long Shot.
This isn't Prey - It's a Legal Comedy: "I'm not going to be a Super Hero, Bruce" is "the flaw" to overcome.
Damn Paul, are you sure we watched the same show? I really loved it! I may be a little biased because I have been in love with Tatiana Maslany ever since Orphan Black. I thought she great in this and I can’t wait for more. I laughed my ass off at the after credit scene too.
I seem to be in the minority, glad people are enjoying it
@@heavyspoilers Everyone has the right to the way they feel about a show. Maybe it will grow on you.
Just because an actor you like is in something doesn't mean it's good. The one thing I've learned after the last 3 trash D+ Marvel shows is never commit to watching a new show until after 6 episodes have aired. That way you can really tell if the supportive comments are just hype bots or actually authentic
@@heavyspoilers I'm with you, the writing and logic is really bad 👎🏼
@@heavyspoilers no you're not
Bruce really misses Tony because tony actually cared about his intellect and he also wanted to help him control the hulk
Hey it may be a comedy, but we still like hero's journey for our superheroes, i hope nobody actually calls you a *sexist.*
I enjoyed it. None of your nitpicks bothered me. It was a nice change from the usual marvel shows.
I guess it doesn't really matter to me if she starts out perfect... sometimes that makes it more interesting when later on they become imperfect with the right circumstances later. So there is still time. And I really like that she is so balanced and cool right out of the gate.
Sometimes being knocked off your high horse is the development and growth.
@@biancawiseowl ^^ these guys get it. Not sure what's up Paul's butt
I don't like how being a Hulk is treated as a potential STD
also why isn't the blood green?
@@e3vL1 because he was in human for at that time?
Did we see the same show?
I laughed when Bruce said bruh, that's about it. I'm really just waiting for Matt to show up, who is my fave comic character.
I loved this episode. Nothing you said bothered me at all. I'm surprised how much I liked it and I feel like they did a great job in such a small run time
I been following you for a while mate, I love the humor in the content along with the screen crush jokes and New Rockstars ones. Keep it going, love the info and content that you keep flowing. Stay blessed mate.
This series is just so Awesome, a lot better than expected, plus the next episodes are going to be EPIC 🙌💯
I just wanna see Daredevil! I am SO psyched for the future of the MCU! They’re just laying the ground work currently.
Watched a completely different show recently fleabag, but there's 4th wall breaking in that, it seems as if no one reacts until the hot priest notices it in season 2, i think bruce reacted similarly in that "he doesnt mean that" scene
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the showrunner mentioned that Fleabag was a heavy influence on the 4th wall-breaking stuff. Loved Fleabag, especially the bits with the hot priest calling her out for talking to the audience.
