  • The Tonor BM-700 microphone kit provides tremendous value for the price - but how does it sound?
    Or as the Amazon page calls it: the TONOR XRL to 3.5mm Podcasting Studio Recording Condenser Microphone for Computer with Adjustable Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand and Microphone Kits .....what????
    Product Links:
    - USA: amzn.to/2jQuDq7
    - UK: amzn.to/2itNfA2
    - CA: amzn.to/2iyxume
    Product sent free for review.
    This is a condenser microphone with a XLR connector, but works with 3.5mm jack via the XLR to 3.5mm cable included. If you choose to use it via XLR, your interface will need to be able to provide phantom power.

      the mic he is using in this video sounds pretty bad though, lots of ringing(.mp3 file digital ringing like), probably a digital mic, i hate usb mics for that reason. i like it to be fully analog all the way from the mic to the pc. The audio for the video may also not be uploaded as a .wav which is what it sounds like is compounding the problem.

      Phantom power would reduce the amount of white noise you hear on that first test with no processing and make the mic much louder, but only an EQ adjustment would give it that nice v shaped talk show radio sound. I use a program called Reaper for post processing

    • @eduardoavila646
      @eduardoavila646 5 років тому +2

      @@missasyan It least its not as bad as the brazilian one. You buy something worth $100, you have to pay $50 of taxes (half the price) and if its eletronics, you pay 100% of the price in taxes, so a $100 product ends up costing $200 not counting shipping, and waiting 6 months to it pass customs.
      So if i wanted to get, for example, a xiaomi pocophone, i would pay around brl R$1200-1400, but then, i also have to pay more R$1200-1400 of taxes, hope that it doesnt get "lost" (robbed by a random guy at the customs, no kidding!), And wait about six months to arrive.
      Then it doesnt worth the hassle, the waiting, but also not the price of buying something and importing it, because it ends up being the same price as a overpriced local product. Like a galaxy s8 wich costs around brl R$2500-3000.
      Yeah, a damn over protective country :/

    I bought two Excelevan BM-800. Just used one to record a client doing voice over for a training video (plugged into my Tascam DR-40 for recording and phantom power) and it sounds REALLY decent. Sure, it's no Neumann SM69 or U87 but those mics are 10K and 4K each so .... yeah. :)
    In terms of pop filters, I don;t like the ones on flexible arms and preffer the ones that secure using rubber bands since they take up WAY LESS space.

    Ik this was posted a while ago but I have some questions. I have tried so much to make my mic sound better but for some reason I cant get that. I recently bought the AT2020 XLR Microphone which I have plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett solo. When I hear your 'raw' microphone test with the mic, it sounds 100% better than my mic does. I don't know why the quality of my mic is so bad compared to others, as it leaves in a lot of background noise and does not sound the best. I am thinking that it could be the volume mixer I use, me being in a bad recording environment or maybe my voice is just not clear enough as I still have a high voice. The only solution I have found so far was this program voicemeeter or something where I can kinda trim out bg noise and slightly enhance my live voice. If you might know what the problem is, please help me, as I have gone through many other microphones as well. Also what effects do you use to make your voice sound better, what levels are they set to (EQ, Compression), and what program do you use.
    Oh my god I cant believe I wrote that all and I applaud you if you read it.

      I mean, good microphone quality starts with sound treating your environment. Condenser mics pick up a LOT of background noise compared to dynamic mics, so you gotta work on that.

      Get an application called audacity. After recording go to the effects section and you have to apply a compressor, bass boost, treble boost and normalisation. *Type in on youtube best audacity settings on UA-cam to have a better explanation :D*

    tonor sounds better raw than your mic at the beginning of video and the processed version. Your processing in the first half is adding very annoying ringing artifacts that sound like a bad mp3.

    For everyone deciding about getting this mic, let me tell you my experience. I may have gotten a bad product, however the mount fell apart quickly... after about a month or so. the mic for me only worked well when plugged into something to change the sound of it. It is a very quite microphone however if the proper settings and gain are appliled it will work ALRIGHT. I definitely think that there are better options for this price point... however at least when I get another mic Ill have the pop filter and wind screen XD

      in the specsheet from your laptop or just plug an elektret condenser mic like the tonor mic in. if you get a pretty good quality then it provides enough for your mic but if you have to crank up the inputvolume and theres some very noisy static hiss and even your voice gets picked up to quiet, then it may not have enough pluginpower

      i hate people Nothing. They sound incredible, especially for the price, whether BM-700, -800, or -8000, the main difference among which is the style (flat-sided, round/capped, and pill). The pill-shaped BM-8000s may be the "best," with more sound from all angles, and the BM-800 is "better," with side input being 360, as opposed to the two flat-sided head.

  • @BDGEFantasyFootball

    Might be a dumb question, but if I'm using a mic (whether it's plugged into my computer or lavalier) and I'm using my camera to record my video (sony alpha a6000) the mic can't plug into the camera, so wouldn't that mean I have to edit both the video and audio seperately and then line them up? That seems like a lot of work unless I'm not getting this right?

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  6 років тому +1

      Yep! Dual system sound is the standard in the production scene. That's how most high quality video is done. Separate audio recorder. Safer, too, as you then have multiple sources of audio to work with in case something goes wrong.
      Good video editors will have an easy syncing tool (in Premiere Pro you literally just select the audio and video, right click, and hit "Merge Clips" and adjust options) - but if not then you simply use a slate/clapper or clap yourself at the start of the recording to create an easy sync point to line up. :)

    • @BDGEFantasyFootball
      @BDGEFantasyFootball 6 років тому

      EposVox ahh I see, I’m on iMovie and you can’t sync video with audio so if I want to take out my pauses or ummms it would literally take me double the time to edit all of my videos because I’d have to do it with video and then audio. Guess it’s time to grab Preimere
