Hey Cliff I’m on my way to Guam at the end of next month Space A and from there further on into Asia. Thanks for sharing appreciate your information! ✌🏾
wife and I went to Anchorage Alaska(Elmendorf) during a heat wave(June) that was going to hit the Bay area. It was a good time to get out of town. We spent 2 weeks in Anchorage and the surrounding areas, sightseeing. Even during the supposed high season of PCS movement it is still possible to get to Alaska from Travis. WE ended up taking a c17 with about 20 people and 53 seats released.
Thank you for your comment and you are spot on correct. There are some routes to destinations where, even during PCS season, there is little or no competition. So those destinations become readily accessible to folks like yourself who are willing to go there. I myself am planning a short trip up to Anchorage as well in the next few weeks. I have never been. Thank you again!
Yes, Thanks for the reminder! Any recommendations navigating departure from San Diego California? 🤔 or video reference where to start now that the season is ready for us?
Naval Air Station North Island has occasional flights to Hawaii, depending on your eligibility, Hawaii is a great jump off point with lots of flights to the Pacific Rim as well as many flights to the East Coast. If necessary, you can jump a cheap Southwest Airlines flight to Travis AFB and decide where you want to go from there.
Thanks for all the info! Great videos! Do you have a go-to app or resource for booking the last minute commercial flights to get you back home in time on a commercial flight? Or just to get the last leg of travel in?
I don’t have a go to app for that, I have use Booking.com and I have used Google flights in the past. Thank you for your comment and good luck on your space a adventures!
Another question. On the Space A sign up form it asks you to select country destination choices. The Seattle IAP AMC Patriot Express has flights to both Kadena AB and Yokota AB in Japan on the same day. So, with that, I can choose which flight to Japan based on availability and roll call?
Start by watching the Space-A Boot Camp series of videos (4). ua-cam.com/video/spPZ_GaInXA/v-deo.html Much of your potential for a good Space-A experience rests on where you start and where you want to go. For example, many parts of the country are Space-A deserts with little or no Space-A options, so depending on your destination, you will need to get to passenger terminal that has a frequency of flights to your destination. If you were seeking to take the family to Hawaii, I would recommend that you fly commercially to Travis AFB, CA and catch one of their flights that frequently fly to HI. Alternatively, if you wanted to go to Japan, I would recommend that you fly to Seattle and catch the PA from SETAC that fly's with frequency to Japan and Osan. Alternatively, if you wanted to get to Germany, several options exist on the east coast, but you would probably need to fly commercially on the first leg of that flight.
That is another indicator of the level of competition as it "should" reflect the date and time of the sign up of the lowest category of space a passenger selected. So if you are seeing a CAT VI passenger who signed up the day prior or day of travel, you can tell competition for seats was not very high. If everyone who showed up got a seat, then this information is less useful. I say that it "should" reflect (above) because some passenger terminals input data more accurately than do others. Hope that helps!
It's CAT VI season 😅
You know it!

Yes, you can change destination choice based upon available flights.
We’re currently stationed in ND and we are a family of 4 from the SE. Can you please help us navigate how to do this?

@@CliffWagner for our journey, specifically, how would you recommend we go? I’ve watched all the videos but still confused on what to do.
@@josenrissa828 Where exactly are you hoping to travel to?
Hello. What is the significance of the date and time sign up on the roll call list?

@@CliffWagner So do the dates of leave on the sign up form matter if you are retired?
@@jimgemelas4147 Nope.
@@CliffWagner ok. just the date and time of sign up. thanks! nice channel!
@@CliffWagner What does the “L” stand for in the time listings? I should know this….
