Ranger was stated to be $20k.....that wasn't true as new off a lot on the cheapest was closer to $30k. If the Ranchero is stated to be $10k, you will probably see the cheapest being around $25k if lucky. Dealerships always talk to do a range cost for all and then each dealership will go up or down from that price by a little. The 2019 Ranger I had as an STX FX4 was still overpriced at $40k. I did pay for the price of the vehicle but I also did upgrades that didn't go against the safety that was designed. I like some of the other mid-class trucks but I might go back to the Ranger if nothing else gets my attention. Intriguing but this Ranchero hasn't peeked my interest like the Ranger did.
Back in 79 I bought a new F 150 super cab 8 foot bed 4.9 six heavy duty 4 speed for the outrageous price of $4.700.00 with AC !
In 1960, my folks bought their first house in LA county for $9,000.00!

The problem with this being affordable $10,000 pick up truck is that the dealerships are going to pick this up and sell it for roughly $35,000-$50,000 they’re going to do what GM dealerships are doing with the Corvette and even though Ford may go after those dealerships like GM is the dealerships are just gonna continue to do it because at the end of the day, it’s supply and demand as you point out about the EV market having a substantial drop, this thing is needed for Ford to come back from an upsetting loss. Last time they lost this bad was the Edsel.

10 K base model , at dealership you will find options like 4 wheels, front seats bench or bucket , base has no engine so add for 4cly or V6, you like AC or Heater extra, power steering extra, stereo extra, insulation headliner extra, power windows extra, by the time you add up everything normally standard your at 30K -45K
It's kind of funny, ford could have imported falcon Ute's from the Australia and kept the brand alive, but they chose to make a new concept which looks like they squashed a ranger down
And I remember a year ago, if the ranchero comes back the used ones will skyrocket. Same thing I said about the bronco, and the fiat 500 as well.😅 Which makes finding a classic one harder to get because of the price increase. I'll always say about every classic car name that makes a comeback.

Dealers were charging $40,000 over MSRP that's why sales dropped then word came out that they were having problems and voula' no one wanted them i know 4 people that canceled their orders.

Not a chance that this will start at 10k.... no chance in hell. They'll advertise that and then offer a stripped down shell with no tech or options or horsepower perhaps for that price but a nicely equipped one will in no way be offered for that price point. I'm also going to guess that these will NOT be UAW built vehicles, they'll surely be made in some 3rd world country and shipped here. They will still sell here because most average people cannot afford their full sized trucks which have ballooned in price over the last 20 years so the small truck market is there, the mavrick showed them that
There is no such thing as a "stripped down shell" or even a "base priced" model available, because their dealers only order fully optioned versions that allow them the biggest mark-up and 'out the door' sales/cons.
As much as i loved the Ranchero back in the day, I don't want to be stuck with a ford of any kind these days.
I've owned fords.over 25 years never once has one left me on side of the road.

@@sunbeam8866yes you most definitely can cause in my area I could easily get a standard cab truck without breaking a sweat. But people choose too get extended cabs and beyond because it's more space and you don't feel as cramped
@@kylebeach2316 I have a low-miles, base-model '96 Tacoma. I do sometimes wish it was an Extra-Cab with automatic. But I got it dirt-cheap ($400!) several years ago, 'cause it wouldn't shift into first or third gear. Fortunately, I was able to easily fix it myself for under $50. Since then, I've upgraded it with a fiberglass cap, air-conditioning, and a decent audio-system, so it's pretty decent now. Plus I have two other '90s cars to drive, for more comfort and room. So the little truck might outlast me!
Its really nice but my son cant get it out if his bedroom and it only holds one child.

The original Ranchero was made off a auto frame..first the fairlane, then the Falcon, then the Torino. There is no "car" offered by Ford to make a Ranchero, only the Escape/Bronco Sport/Maverick chassis would be close.

They could build it for $10,000 sale price. Unfortunately, not for sale in the US market. If it had No airbags, no ABS, crank windows, power nothing, no AC, and no technology toys. Vinyl bench seat etc etc. I'd buy one it if were USA legal. Ya know, like a pickup.
If they price it low enough, their dealers may be able to actually DOUBLE the price with the mark-up and delivery fees. And since most people's gag reflex can't withstand exposure to a Ford dealership, they will sit on the lot unsold. Also, the dealers will only order stock with every possible option, or add-on, so they defeat the pricing strategy that Ford hopes will attract new buyers. NOT a single "base price" unit available anywhere.

There is NO replacement for displacement. Don't want a pickup with less than 8 cylinders and the ability to pull a heavy trailer for 15-20 years. With enough power to get over a hill without downshifting . Give me the 351CI 5 speed trans and 3:95 gears.

It would be nice to see, but it will be styled like the modern small cars which leave a lot to be desired. If they use a little imagination and do like Mopar and GM by styling it like one of the older models with a modern look, that would be cool. Hell, I might even consider buying a Ford on purpose.

I remember lookin' at a brand-new stripper std-cab Toyota pickup on a dealer's lot in '87 - 4 cylinder, stick, crank windows, vinyl-bench, AM radio, no AC, black plastic center-caps, no rear bumper. Base sticker-price was $5995, but the $1000 added dealer markup was a deal killer. Decided to keep fixin' up my old station-wagon!

If its 10 grand or less starting point it's most likely made of completely cheap ass chinese parts. It's not a lag of consumer interest to blame low sales, it's high price for a trash throw away car. $ 35,000 tiny suv with no trunk space, 75 to 90,000 for a pickup. Not just ford but the big three and the foreign market as well.
