Damn, makes me miss my Electric Blue 92 Talon. 6bolt block/4 bolt rear end. Sadly, a tweaker stole my transfer case and I parted out the rest. Glad to see the ol' 4g63 still making history.
That thing is freakin rocket ship. I had a 90 awd drive talon with a few mods. I don’t even remember my best times. I believe around 13.5. Never was dyno tested or tuned. Just basic stuff I did my self.
What I want to know is of every 10 passes on that car how many are actually clean without any breakage. I've seen that car race and it broke more that it raced. True that was 2-3 years ago, so I hope they can make several clean passes now.
It didn't break at this event from what I saw, it did have some passes it aborted due to tire spin and what not but overall it was a solid display for a car of this caliber.
The equivalent level built V8 to this runs 200+ in the 1/8 mile. There is a reason there are so few DSM's around, they were horribly unreliable. I remember after I got rid of mine it felt weird having a car you could actually rely on and go on road trips with. They were that bad!
I've owned both. While I can appreciate what that little 4 banger can do, V8's make the same power, with less effort, and a bit more reliability. I do miss my Laser though. I wish I still had that car, as well as my Mustang.
@A Fera you're talking about half a million dollar ford gts? lmao I guess this little DSM really hurt your feelings. And you're also rambling about a max effort drag only car (Mod Motor John Mihovetz) LOL apples to oranges- what a dumb comment.
This makes me miss my gen 1 Talon so much. I built it in ‘03 and then sold it in ‘04 with 11K in recipes for 6k then dumped that money right into my brand new ‘04 Evo. The Talon was way more fun and definitely faster. But it sure was nice having a/c 4 doors and being able to drive from Jersey to Fla. sit in traffic for hours and not worry about a thing other then a little bit of heat soak on the front mount. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh well live and learn I guess.
These guys posting about DSM's not running, I've been building these for many years, I have one I built still running good 10 years now, I've seen the guys that keep them together, they try running 15,000rpm's dead stop burn outs and can't figure out why it won't stay together !?!?!?
Wow, that’s crazy fast... great accomplishment guys! Good to see DSM’s still setting records
Legendary cars

Dam I love those old talons! 4G63!!!
Damn. I remember when an air filter and boost controller, got you 13s at 100mph....
It still does, for 7.0s you have to remove the spare
Lol, boost controllers were bought at Home Depot, and fuel enrichment was turning up the fuel pressure.
@@MrCaribe65 yup!
@@jerrywhite9225 passenger seat too?
Red Demon would easily be in the 6's if it had an auto like this.
This would of went into the 6s if the turbo didn't let go, is what it is until it happens lol
I totally would have to been to work on time if I would have left early bro
Red demon is a 2nd gen?
@@garyhowe88 Yeah. Always has been
Yes 2g gen Talon
Hell yes!!! Congrats Aaron!!
That black 1g at the end looked like evil eagle that car was legendary
Post some pics of the back side of the compressor wheel, I bet I know why it failed.
nuts how this is capable on a “stock” location style auto trans

Awesome ride. Hey, what ever happened to the guy who built transmissions for these cars? He was running 7's like 10 or 15 years ago.
John Shepherd , he is still around
He mostly builds gtr and Evo transmission now. He’s out of the dsm game since 2012 I think.
@@jerrywhite9225 That's the guy. Thank you.

@@talontsi97videos Good to hear! It’s an impressive car for sure!
@@velr50gt at the Hail Mary derby Aaron made 9 passes and broke on the 10th if I remember right, he is a really cool guy though.
Respect
It's also the only running 1G DSM on the planet haha
You may need to open your eyes a bit
as an owner of two of em ouch lol
Gosh dam this makes me want a 1g
How many v8s wish they did numbers like that?

@A Fera it's a 4 cylinder dude. Dont get all technical
V8’s are still faster and there are more that beat this. Its a sick car but there isnt as much 4 cylinders in this league than v8’s

Who builds the best automatic transmission for drag racing
502 let's go
GOOD GOD
He's just getting started, just a little more HP watch out 6's!
Did you see the new makeover the car underwent? Hoping to see it soon going for that 6!
What auto trans is that?????? I need to know!

😍
Brent Rau went 6.8 so he is the fastest DSM.
Cool but its track only.
I want to see a fwd civic get that close... but fwd cars spin a lot when they have a lot of horses
Check out Kiggly racing’s fwd 1G it don’t spin a bit and goes deep into the 7s
