- I dig all targets while grass metal detecting with the Minelab Manticore metal detector. Not all trashy targets are trash! Only showing the Target ID's & Finds in this video.
This was an interesting way to film and a great way to do a realistic VDI test with unknown targets vs their VDI's - Розваги
One of the best video's I've seen on metal detecting. I like the way you show the VDI's and get to hear the tones. The 50 finds in quick order sure reduces my armchair fatigue. Do some more like this at the beach when you get a chance.

I think it's good for shorter videos, maybe split a 50 hole hunt into five 10 hole videos, and release one every 2 days, the only potential problem is you'll have a bunch of videos with no good finds

I like that fast pace style showing the screen. A lot of guys talk about how they don't use the VDI and just go by tones. And i think if you do that, then your missing out on an ability to really know the targets even better before you dig them. Why wouldn't you use the VDI along with the tones to be even better.... I think detecting by sound is old school. We have the tool so why not use it? I totally agree

Nice ring! Great year Bill! I ended up with nine gold rings (retail $20,000+) down here in Oceanside. Best gold beaches in America are in Cali for sure!
Nice... I think we have 13 gold items (not all rings) but did not figure out a retail price... that is so awesome and yes, we are so lucky to have the weather to hunt year round... Happy New Year and best of luck in 2024

Sweet hunt, yes. Maybe with each detector people could actually see what they may be missing by not digging all targets👍🤓👍and a round about range of vdi each rings. Keep in mind each person's soil is based on different mineralization 👍, but the vdi's will be in the ballpark range👍😜
You make a great point about the soil... It was a fun experiment but wow, much more editing...I have already been asked to try it with the 800
Obviously the best find was the tent stake. Tyler calls the crusty pennies Mummified Pennies. Cool puzzle.

Rare find on Christmas eve - one hole dug and 40 quarters pulled out. Reckon someone lost a roll of quarters. Dating from 1965/66 up to 2002. Definitely made my day🤗.

Detecting in a school yard abt 15 yrs ago found a roll of pennies, pre zinc. no wheaties, using Explorer II...

I have the Manticore (the main machine now) & the 800(which has paid for itself) so I enjoy the video as I do with all your videos.
Awesome... I like them both but as you can tell, I have been using the Manticore more than the 800. I will keep going back and forth with the two and of corse we will also be using the Vanquish and XTerra Pro.... I was thinking about the 900 but probably not worth getting since I do have the Manticore.... Maybe in the near future Minelab will come out with a must have new detector again...
I actually enjoyed this type of detecting. Numbers and the finds are what detecting comes down to. But i am a guy who enjoys reading technology books 😄. Regardless. Your finds are always exciting. I love all your hunts including this one! It’s good to change things up on occasion. That abalone and zircon ring was GORGEOUS. Great puzzle but how did you keep Buddy from messing around with it? 😻 The sound of cars flying by in the background of your vlog brought up memories of January, 1967, when I moved to California from rural Montana. Two girlfriends and I shared a 2nd floor apartment that backed up to a freeway near San Francisco, our first exposure to freeways and unending noise. I almost get anxiety when I realize how many years have passed. Enjoy each day.
Thank you very much. We had to keep the door shut when we were not around. Can't trust the little bugger. 3's company in SF.... nice but not the noise. I lived in the bay area from 82-87 and worked in SF for a bit. I just went up there for a football game and wow is everything in the cities to the south of SF over grown and congested. I guess we are getting old my friend. I wake up sometimes thinking I should be at work... nope retired so go detect...lol

Great video today! I have a Manticore and loved seeing the numbers and the VDI. Most videos I've seen tend to show the numbers after they dig the finds up. I would love to see more like this, but only when Christine can't make it to the hunt. 😁
Thanks... I had wanted to do this for a while... It is a good method when wanting to show the info regarding the finds but yes, it is more of a thing to do when we can't hunt together. Speaking of that, we are going to get out one more time before years end... Happy New Year!
I really enjoyed this style of video. I don't have that machine but it doesn't matter. (I don't suppose you have a Garrett ace 200 laying around you want to showcase next) I like the quick to the point info & the fact that you showed everything not just the cool stuff. Appreciate you showing how you grid too.

I didn’t mind the format because it was quick and showed many targets and what they rung up as. My Wife got an Xterra for Christmas and it would be great if you could do one for that detector.

Same target IDs on the 900 and manticore. I have a 900. Everything he dug up was on par with my numbers on the 900.. Use the 900 with the small coil and it's a killer combo imo

Thanks.. Yeah it is not a style that we would do often. If I had not given the Nokta detectors away, I would try with the Simplex. That metal sure could have been an inhaler...

Not only does it help me but it is a good way to show the VDI's, hear the tones and know what you got. I thought it would be helpful although not a benefit unless you run the Manticore.... already been asked to do it with the NOX and Xterra

It wasn’t my favorite style of hunt (you did ask 😜) but I don’t hunt with the Manticore. But….that RING is so gorgeous and you literally said I don’t know why I’m digging this….should be a lesson to us all. Thanks for all you do Bill to share your detecting life with us. Thanks... just an experiment but yes, I hate skipping any target. I just checked and Buddy is 13.3 pounds. He was about that same weight 3 months ago so I am glad he is not getting fat but he is all grown up

I think it's cool to switch up the style every once and a while. If you have a Legend and run it through a VDI/find format like this I'd like to see it. Since the Legend only goes to 60, I'd be interested in seeing similarities and differences.
We gave away our Legend but I will check with my friend at the detector store... maybe I can borrow one and try it. We downsized our detectors this summer and gave away several. Thank you

I liked the speed hunt but you can slow down just a smidge. I was in your neck of the woods XMas weekend and I found a few things but it was a workout!! Good going!!
LOL.... I guess I can try and slow down. I don't know if it was the coffee but I was a little amped up. Even Christine asked me why I was talking so fast... I don't remember issuing any detecting passes in my area...haha

I enjoyed a little fast paced hunting every once in awhile. I like seeing some videos I've got a 900 now I bought a couple weeks ago so they're closer to the manticore vdis. Definitely a learning curve from the 800 when zincolns show up from 53 to 65
My friend just got the 900. I need to meet up with him and check it out. I thought about upgrading the 800n but with the Manticore I am not sure if I should or just wait until the next generation comes along? Thanks, making this video was last minute and kinda fun.

NYC metal detecting has a ring for every number on that metal detector
That makes sense. I am sure if I went back and checked many of the rings I have found wold cover a lot of the numbers. NYC finds a lot of stuff

I have the 900 and the VDI's are almost identical. I do get a lot of nickels in hunted parks, as most skip the pull tab numbers, which is the same as big gold rings.
Hum.... I am amazed. I have seen a couple guys who fly down the beach and they are only looking for gold... How easy it would to miss cool stuff.

I have an old timer friend that tells me you get a ring for every 100 pull tabs. I was wondering if the 900 changed or not. I was thinking the might have expanded the numbers to 100? good to know. Thank you

I hope you continue using the Manticore. Merrill and Monterey have been using the deus and I don't like watching those vdi numbers...messes with me out in the field.
We no longer have the Deus... Although it is a good detector it was not for me... I did not care for it personally. We switch up between the 4 Minelab detectors we have.

What was that black ring made out of? It's interesting being so high like silver. Most every ring i have seen titanium, stainless steel like that is down around 25-55. So that is really interesting. That titanium was a beautiful ring. That seemed like a really clean field.....
I am trying to figure out that mystery. I checked again and the ring comes in at around 86. I scraped off some of the black which came off fairly easy and it was even bubbling a bit in areas. I tested it with silver acid and 18K acid. Failed both times re: silver???? I may have to take it to a buddy and see if they can figure it out since he is a jeweler. Crazy. The field is one of the better ones to hunt. 4 soccer fields in a row and I have now pulled 5 rings from them. sweet

What reactivity were you using on this hunt?
I was in "All Terrain Fast" which is my favorite mode and the recovery speed was on 4.
How do you like the manticore compared to 800?
I was such an 800 fan but the Manticore has really grown on me! However, I plan on doing the same test in the near future with the 800.... I do really enjoy hunting with it!!!
