I’ve the Autel 808bt and it’s maybe 3 years old, Autel own this brand. The 808 cost €600 and this little unit is way faster. Makes me think why bother with the Autel.

Damn, I ordered the Gap iiD tool last night 😬

The gap tool will be far far better for the disco. The downside is it’s for Land Rover only I believe where as the otofix and Autel will do your other cars too. I regret not getting the gap but I’ve used my Autel when buying cars and repairing friends cars.

Depends where you are bud. I’ve the disco and do most of my own work but for the big stuff I’ve a great mechanic but he’s a small indie. You’ll miss the comfort of the Land Rover if you move from it.

Any idea if this will program a Disco' 2 key?
    I know a D2 isn't OBD2 compliant so I'm guessing it won't but it can't hurt to ask.
Currently on the lookout for a decent OBD2 reader so I might buy one regardless of whether it does D2 keys or not.

Same applies to td5 defender. Has landrover specific software and you need something like a expensive nanocom to do anything. Await any answer you get

We'll plug it into a D2 and see what happens!

@@LRLiveUK Definitely be interested in the D2 abilities, especially 3 Amigos, ACE diagnostics & testing, plus key programming - Nanocom is king I know, but cost is a big issue for something that only works on one vehicle.

Can't recall the exact dates but petrol-engined vehicles became OBD2 compliant a few years before diesel vehicles (2001 vs 2005?) so V8 D2s should be but OBD2 compliance only came to diesels with the D3.
Still, some scanners have limited functionality with the D2 and if this thing CAN program a D2 key it'd be worth having just for that... and using on other OBD2 compliant vehicles too.

OTOFIX D1 lite is an awesome machine but no diagnostic tool can fix the hideousness of the Range Rover brand.
