    This is a really great and detailed intro to the area! Stonehouse in the opposite direction was the first trail I would ride when I first started, would begin at burrito hill and end and wolf. Awesome work hopefully we get to ride again soon!

    Great guide. I would also say that wolf road to the multi-track down to burrito hill to gravity cavity to turn around would be a nice easy route too. Plus they can warm up on the multitrack instead of grav cavity. (Thinking about bringing my wife out there) she handled bullwhip and hickory smoked Ok so maybe we try this route next.

    Thanks for posting this. I'm not a beginner but I did take a number of years off. Last time I was at Palos Stone House was not legal. I always enjoyed Gravity Cavity; Turf 1 was just OK, and I pretty well hated that road climb back up. This seems like a much better route (and finally Burrito Hill is connected to something!)

    Stonehouse is one of my favorite trails. It's what we call "Goldilocks", not too technical but not boring either, not too hilly but not flat either. Please, do not ride on this trail after a heavy rain. Give it a day or 2 to dry out. Wide Wheels, Knobby Tires, Skinny Arms

    • @TheMediocreMountainBiker

      I’d say take the gnarlier parts a little slower while practicing a neutral position. The brain tends to make you push away from the perceived danger but that unweights the front tire which can result in a washout. If you’re doing the drops off the walls, I’d avoid that last log roll - it’s bucked many of us since it comes right after the second drop.

      Best version of this would be to try and latch onto a group going out. There are usually people that’ll ride after a trail workday and there are typically informal group rides on Wednesday nights out of Maple Lake East.

    I feel like MTB has the right of way w hikers. Also feel like riders going down have the right of way to those going up

    • @TheMediocreMountainBiker
      @TheMediocreMountainBiker  Рік тому

      A lot of times hikers will feel it’s better for everyone if they are the ones to yield to bikes - but the general rule is bikes yield to hikers.
      For uphill/downhill bikes - it’s a lot easier to stop and restart for the downhill rider. Also, sometimes the uphill rider will yield anyway for a number of reasons (they are tired or they just want to be nice).
      At any rate, I feel that uphill riders exercise their right of way more often than the hikers.
