Idk what the criticism is on being a centrist when he is an interviewer. That’s literally his job in a way to not be bias while talking to a guest.
It's not about bias, it's about the fact that Donald Trump gives non answers. It's your job as an interviewer to ask questions, but a good interview should have good questions and hopefully produce good answers.
Lex asked alot of unimportant questions (not all, he had some good ones) and when Trump failed to actually answer them, he just moved on and never asked him to actually answer the very direct questions given to him. He let Trump spout of his lies and unrelated nonsense instead of refocusing the conversation back to what the actual questions were.
And interview should be inciteful to the person being interviewed, this was not inciteful in the slightest. We got softball questions followed up by nonsense, nothing of value was learned.

It's clear lex didn't want to push too hard on trump despite the fact he deserves to be simply because he has no spine to do it. You don't have to dislike Trump or be left leaning to see when he's not answering a question and just hold him accountable for his incessant need to ramble.
This is probably the only reason Trump even agreed to do it, because lex is so passive and that works when you are dealing with specialists or celebrity figures, but when you have arguably the most prolific political figure in the modern day on your show, you need to tease out more useful information from the man who could be running that entire country.
I'm not asking lex to be hard on Trump (again as much as Trump deserves it), I just want him to do a better job at asking pressing questions and more importantly getting proper answers to those questions.
Papa guy said something that explains it well. Something along the lines of ‘when you treat both sides with the same credibility even when they don’t deserve the same treatment’. Perfectly explains how many centrists act.

The job of a interviewer is to ask a question not to provide facts for the subject of the interview that’s what a debate is for he doesn’t do this with other guest either he usually just goes on then moves on like this is not just a trump thing

Papa gut is the epitome of reasonable when it comes to his political takes. He got me out of Trumpworld. Father Stomach is legitimately just a normal, thoughtful dude.

@@VelCroweBar He starts with a massive negative prior towards trump, and seemingly hasn’t done any serious research into trumps policy or speech. I think a part of this video which underlines what I’m talking about is where he says trump has no policy, or that they’re not particularly good, and where he says all trump does is take softball interviews and softball questions. He also said something which indicates that he believes trump isn’t open to adversarial interviews, “I wonder if trump said he’d only do this if the questions were soft”.
If you were to engage honestly and critically, you would see that trump does the most adversarial interviews and answers the toughest questions regarding his policy and views, meanwhile Kamala had not. I didn’t see him question kamala’s month long no questions-interview streak, but you do see him railing against trump for 1 non combative interview. This is 1 fact that demonstrates him having a negative prior against trump without doing any serious research.
He rails against trump for having no good/no policy. But trump gives his policy all the time, and given that the Harris campaign has gravitated to trump in terms of policy (China tariffs are still on the books despite them saying they were bad, she’s trying to now be a border hawk despite what we all know they’ve done, stealing tax on tips, etc), I don’t see how you can sit there and endorse the Harris policy or not be against it, while being against trump policy. And if you deny trump has policy, you clearly haven’t done research. In fact, here again I notice gut railing against trump but not against Harris for the very same thing. Harris has absolutely 0 policy (hyperbole), hell she didn’t even speak to the people in 40 days after she was named candidate. And all the policy she did have, she switched, but switched without letting us know what she switched to. So again this trump has no good/no policy, yet not saying anything with respect to Harris, just demonstrates a negative prior and a lack of serious engagement.
Many other examples but these are just a few of why I say he’s misguided. He simply dislikes trump, and uses 1ft deep shallow so called research in order to formulate his opinions
@@chanr9531 I wouldn’t call destiny misguided even though destiny disagrees with me on many things. It’s pathetic how you see someone give a criticism, and write it off as them not being able to take disagreement rather than them having valid considerations for their belief. Look into the mirror before you condemn others
