Thank you for the video. All of your videos are very helpful. A couple of points, though. I would wear safety glasses when dealing with suspension springs of any kind. and those spring compression tools are the wrong kind for BMW struts. There is another type of spring compressor with two arms attached to a single rail that will make this job a lot easier. Not as easy as a floor mounted shop strut spring compressor but a lot easier than the ones you’re using.
The easier way to do this without a hydraulic spring compressor is to use the weight of the car to compress the spring! Loosely assemble all the parts of the shock assembly as far as you can. Then install the damper into the hub, reinstall the control arms, put something between the damper and the floor. Then slowly lower the car whilst someone lines all the parts up. You can then put the nut on the damper from the engine bay.
@@Zeiten quite a few "specialists" here on UA-cam do it this way because of the issues you highlighted. Or weld a plate to compress the whole thing including the mount
I wonder if the Lisle Strut Tool 62300 would have worked better. Trying to understand the job I'm confused as to how you got the spring off but could not get it back on. Is the new absorber not sticking out as far or was there still some tension on the spring? Great video!
There is usually leftover tension when there isn’t much spring, it’s easier to compress bigger spring for it to clear the strut completely not in the case of 3 or 1 series
Thank you. I'm thinking about getting one of those clamp/shoe-type spring compressors -- the blue and yellow ones if you google McPherson strut spring compressor. Have you tried this type?
That’s a good question which im not 100% sure how to answer but sport package cars have sport seats they are more bucket seats than regular ones, that’s how i decided that it is sport package. What you can do is google what was in sport package back then and see if your car has it
Well now I see at minute 15 where the dropped the rotors. Both rotors! You'd think you'd be more careful on the second one. Both rotors are dented and thump on the pads. Then they denied any responsibility and said it was like that before. Unbelievable!
Everything mechanic i know calls those compression clamps the widow maker!!! The amount of potential energy stored on that compressed spring will send those pieces right thru you…that was very irresponsible of you man, who’s😮😮😮 videos am going to watch if something had gone wrong?
Never had an issue with those, as long as they are in good shape, every time you use them it grinds off some metal so they have to be replaced once in a while. But overall they do the job i do have other compressing tools but those are the easiest to use and available to everyone

Woohoo new video from my new favorite youtuber
I’m flattered, thank you for watching🙌
You have the most detailed videos, thank you and keep them coming.
Thank you🙌
Im getting my arms and shocks done tomorrow... Thank you for the video.. big fan of your work

Highly recommend using safety glasses…especially when working on compressed springs!
Z-man what's up how to click on this and watch it as soon as it came up today😂
😁 that’s a long one
@@Zeiten 🤣, that's what she said 🤣, always keep up the good work bro 🔥
Is a maintained n52 good to run up to 500k km?
@nickyinthaphone8434 yes i’ve seen very high mileage n52 engines still running strong
Thank you for watching🙌

i need to do my front struts aswell on my e90 there so fkd, i think both top mounts aswell are bad....

Haven’t tried it but im sure they will work just fine
I need to know about rear suspension not the shocks or the struts just the components of the bushings and replacing the rear
Zeiten question how can i tell if my 07 3 series bmw car has a sport suspension or not ? Some auto parts ask that ?.

How do I get a membership from you?
isnt it better to just get a total new st so you dont have to ocmpress?

Man, you really struggle with that spring compressor...
It isn't that hard to tighten the control arm bolts when the car is on the ground, so the bushing doesn't wear out early.
Buy the whole assembly, I think so..cheaper than the ER.
😅
