Our Favorite Restaurant in Hua Hin - SomTam Jae Phueng on Soi 102
Join @kimberleyssandbox and I as we share with you our favorite restaurant in Hua Hin and possibly all of Thailand. It is a budget friendly, authentic and quality place we recommend to everyone visiting the Hua Hin area. We believe we have found the name - SomTam Jae Phueng.
Trust us when you visit, we believe you will be happy. We then finish the video at our favoritre desert place in Thailand, Swensons!!!

Our favorite too. We lived on Soi 102 for 6 weeks in March/April 2024 and had many meals there. I think we actually met there once, or maybe near the old couple selling fruit. Well, the restaurant offers a lot of great Thai-food, but their Fish & Chips is also great!
Thats our favorite to, its amazing. Cant wait to juli to visit it again.

So much better than showing a over priced resort. This is the real Thailand. Koh chang and Kood would be a great place to visit. We really enjoyed both.

Wow, I've been to that city three or four times and I've never been to that restaurant. I'm definitely going to go next time I'm in Hua Hin.

Love your videos. We've watched them for weeks getting ready for our first trip to Hua Hin and Thailand. Tonight we went to this restaurant. What you ordered looked so good we ordered the same. Fried papaya salad, cashew chicken, spicy shrimp soup and added an order of fried squid. Oh my this was the best food ever! Amazing! Add two bottles of water, a Coke and a large bottle of Leo beer to the order. We are here for another 2 weeks and we will be back there several more times. To top that off the entire bill for everything was only 540 bht or $14.80 US. You both rock. Hope to run into you and say hi while we're here. Wayne & Jayme
We love this place. Our 100% goto place for the best food. Right now Kim is around but I needed to go to the states. Back soon!!!

Bee (Phueng in Thai) is probably the owner‘s nickname.

The name is translated to Eng. as "Sister Pueng's Papaya Salad Shop 102 Street" (Pueng means a bee)

Hello... I am currently in California myself. Had to make a short notice uneexpected trip.
So the restaurants name is “Papaya sallad at Bee’s”. I haven’t been there but I’ll definitely going to try it out. There’s also a Swensens at Petchakasem Rd almost by the clock tower. Cheers!

@@AlmostRetiredinThailand Went for a feed most of the food was good apart from the baby squid. Thai Green Curry was great heaps of chicken, tender, large serving and good flavour.
Very Hot over there, hard to sit and enjoy the food, We had 4 dishes plus rice and noodles and 4 drinks only came to 720 Baht.

Beautiful Pork Dim Sim, the best I have ever had.

Like you kim im a picky eater at age 55. I found the food in Jomtien so unhealthy when we were there recently. I cant have dairy or gluten. It was so hard to reach my protein goals. I lost 5Lbs which i didn't need to lose. I would have order the chicken with cashew as well. You look in very good shape. Any tips? We did go to the big c store but not alot there for organic helthy foods

I just keep moving!!! I do workout and run/walk incline several days a week. When Dave comes, I blow my diet everytime :(
2 meals a day is okay for me, I could def live here, for cheap. Cars however, are expensive.
We paid less for our car in Thailand than we would have in the US... about $5K USD less.
English name Gi-Yang = bbq chicken SomTum=papaya salad Jae Pueng=her name Jae= nice way to call female who is older than you. So if don’t know her name and she look older than you, you can call her Are-Jae. Jae is actually a Chinese dialect for older sister. Pueng = bee. But don’t call her “bee” she will not like that. Just call her Jae Pueng or Are-Pueng. Restaurant name is Gi-Yang Som-Tum Jae-Pueng

Really appreciate this video. Wish I had known about this restaurant the last time I was in Hua Hin. I was staying at the dusitD2 less than 5 minute walk away.

what are the rules for Americans to live in Thailand and is English spoken by most? Congrats on the home. I am a Realtor in NC and SC and the prices are so far above what most can now afford

I'm planning on moving to Thailand and I was told one of the first things I need to get on my phone is Google translate
It helps but many times not necessary.
I worked with a Thai in Abu Dhabi who leased a beach on one of the islands in the South. He boasted that no Thai would eat in his restaurant because it was designed for foreigner's taste. I suspect that it was only half of the story, the prices were also designed for foreigner's pockets! I am not an expert on prices because like most farang I don't much care what the food costs which is what makes us such good customers. If you plan to stay, learning to read Thai will solve pronunciation problems because the English phonetics depend on it.
Agrees about the Thai language and very difficult for a 56 year old guy with major ringing in my ears... makes it so difficult to hear the tiny nuances that some words have... but we try all the time to learn.

Thailand a good country for holiday and varieties of great good food but the main problem is to get someone to speak or know any English is the main problem, compared like their neigjbouring Singapore, Malaysia where communication with any foreigner is very easy and understanding.
We try hard to speak Thai, which is a very difficult language. There is a decent English speaking community... but not speaking the language is part of the adventure 🙄
Maybe he's filling you up at the Thai cheap restaurant then splurging only on a western dessert 🍨 😂😂
