    An Arabic manuscript of about A.D. 1500 “Book on the Excellence of the Bow and Arrow” and the Description thereof.
    Translated by N.A. Faris and R.P. Elmer, 1945.
    Another way to do this stunt is by placing the arrows between the fingers of the right hand thus: the nock of each arrow between two fingers when the arrows are only three; if they be six, then place two arrows between each two fingers, or if they be nine, three arrows between each two fingers; or more as you are able. Then follow the rest of the operation as described in the previous paragraphs:

      so make it not an ordeal ....the technique used by the masters for blind nocking is written right there in both books Arab and Saracen archery.....it is a very fast technique for use with thumb draw......and the really strange thing is....nobody fricken uses it .....except me that is

      Have you heard of lars Anderson? Ancient texts say to be an at her you have to be able to shoot 3 arrows in 1.5 seconds and 10 arrows in rapid succession. Most modern archers say the texts are wrong and it’s impossible. Lars Anderson can shoot 3 arrows in 1.5 seconds, 10 arrows in 4.9 seconds and 3 arrows in 1.2 seconds while running backwards or jumping.

      @@HistoricalWeapons his well-known form is not same looks with it. but thoes it? lars already traind arab tech and variate as perpose so in video he changes arab archery and his other techniques by situation and targets and it's main concepts based on arab archery. it still just made-up?
      korean trad archery have same argue about technique and some people says "not correct technique with old script is WRONG and must fix it!"
      but later, old pictures show us thats just script, they draw just they want. -hitting target without injury is important and any other things(release position, draw angle, draw hand angle, and any other techniques) are just minor thing. - so pic and video shows variaty moves. even each oldest trad archers has different techniques.

    The historical description is a bit vague but there is one obvious clue that indicates the arrows are held in the forward position...not point down as you are doing here . The text reads for the second method the arrow nocks are held between the fingers either 3 , 6 , or 9 arrows then to proceed like the first method....and the first method is a point down technique however it's referencing what to do after the arrows are gripped ....it says to SLAM THE ARROW SHAFT AGAINST THE GRIP OF THE BOW AND THEN AT THE SAME TIME PUSH THE NOCK FORWARD TO THE STRING.
    the way your doing it doesn't allow for the shaft to be slammed against the grip of the bow nor are you able to push the nock forward with your palm . Both are very easily done with the arrows held in the forward position.
    One must read the historical description very carefully and when attempting to reconstruct the method it is important to make sure all parameters given in the description are met ....and another glaring reason Jack's version is incorrect......this is a description of shower shooting...in other words speed archery.....and Jack's version in my opinion is slow and clumsy....furthermore the position of his arrows won't allow the use of the blind nocking technique used by the medeaval middle Eastern archers
    In summary...he's wrong

    • @HistoricalWeapons
      @HistoricalWeapons  8 місяців тому

      Interesting interpretation. But pay attention to my technique which also allows the shafts to be slammed on the bow grip. I would have to see what the original Arab word is for slam. If the case is based on your interpretation it would still be a thumb draw so faster than this but not the stereotypical Lars draw. There’s no Slavic + this magazine method combo written in Arab archery, only from the Theban tomb
