Robin, thanks for a wonderful Leica Academy session last Thursday 16th Jan 2020. My SL2 is now on its way to me with the VE 24-90 etc. Your knowledge made the difference between purchasing or not.
Great. thanks for sharing. Also, since we're discussing AFs and AFc on Leica cameras, if you keep the shutter button half-pressed until you take the picture, the AF frame follows the locked subject. The Tracking works regardless of which AF mode (AFs/AFc) is selected; Tracking will stop when you let the shutter button go, at least on my Leica TL2 camera.
Question: Using what you suggested in this video, if I were to use my LEICA SL2 for ‘street photography’ it would seem I would make the choice of AF-C, put in subject (children & pets) or maybe “sports” so that I am capturing action on the street … Let me know. Enjoyed the video. Nicely done.
Ok, yesterday I was shooting with 6 Girls from a band. And this was a challenge for the camera. Any advice ? I would love to have Dual Pixel for the autofocus. And eye detection.
I have been shooting butterflies and have been struggling to find the best autofocus setting for that. I try to shoot butterflies that land on flowers but the problem is that some move very quickly, just staying there for a very short while before moving to another flower.
Hi sir !.. i have question please ... i want to add all my product image stack in photoshop ..so i want to my Sony A7III camera can take around 15 image automaticaly with all different angel focus ?
Does anyone watching this (or the person who posted this video) happen to know if Leica has made any comment on why they did not incorporate phase detect in this body? It just seems weird considering how much the camera costs, the year it was released, and the fact that phase detect seems like an obvious choice for a brand who likes to fancy themselves makers of caneras that don’t get in the way of the experience. Having only contrast detect and not phase detect sort of causes problems for wedding photographers, wildlife photogs, sports photogs, and some family photogs (when shooting pics of unruly children). So why? Anyone have any insight as to why they made this choice?
because these cameras are just Panasonics with Leica bodies and colors. Panasonic does not have phase detect tech and I guess Leica is not going to do their own R & D for this... As a wedding photographer I want to use this but doubt it's possible, at least with modern AF expectations.
@@shutterlag192 we used contrast-based autofocus systems for decades in sports and photojournalism with little-to-no issues (Canon 5D3, 5D4, 1Dx, etc.). There will be no issues with getting sharp photos at fast-paced weddings with the Leica SL system - though you might not be able to shoot at 30fps with eye detection at f/1.2.
@@drbubble33 thank you for the response. Yes I’m sure it would work fine most of the time, but the r6 focuses with reliable eye af at something like -6 ev now. Is it necessary? No but it’s such a drastic improvement it can change the way you shoot and types of photos you can get. Are they objectively better? Not really. I also use and manual focus m and film cameras, but when I use autofocus it’s nice that it works like magic. I’d still love to have this camera though.
Loved the "Enjoy your Leica SL2" line at the end.

I love the Leica Q, and I think the M line is great! But those SL/CL/TL cameras are just overpriced crap
