    From a German article with more insights:
    * less but more distinct factions than AOE2 on release (AOE2 had 12)
    * historic accurate factions, building, units with even changing languages over the ages
    * also the playstyle will be a reflection of their strategys (england more focused on building, mongols more on rush)
    * 4 Ressources Food,Wood, Stone, Gold
    * factions use the ressources diffrently
    * factions even have diffrent ages
    * Yes it's medival again but a much longer timeframe of it than AO2
    * Up to 8 Players in multiplayer
    * huge armys
    * singleplayer campaign seems to focus on the journey of historic persons
    * relic build an new engine for it for much more to come (hint at add ons and AOE5)

      sounds like a very casual-focused approach which is a smart idea economically.

      @Just the Paladin from Age of Empires II You are right it was 12. What makes me wonder is the first teaser trailer, they showed the fall of roman empire, siege of constantinopel, also the inca empire vs the conquistadors, the war of the french and english over north america beside the indians and also the japanese.
      So my guess is they will bring them as add ons. For release atleast 2 more central europe nation, and 2 eastern. They said "We would rather emphasize the differences than to incorporate a large number of fractions, into the game, which, as in the case of Age of Empires 2, only differ in certain special units. "
      As they said also in the interviews, they took the time to made an engine for the future of age of empires, under super vision of the new aoe studio from microsoft, so there is definitly a commitment to the future of AOE and i'am optimistic.

      "* Yes it's medival again but a much longer timeframe of it than AO2"
      : does that mean the devs are going to extend the time period to the Discovery Age & Colonial age from Age 3?

    If you saw the interview, the age period is extended compared to AoE2, with starting earlier and ending in the renaissance.

    As much as I'd like to add anything here, I got nothing. I'm commenting due to how the system works. Keep up the good work.

    I hope Relic doesn't use their squad system for the production of units and this attack of this castle remind me how good putting a siege in Stronghold was a blast ! ^^

    Will the devs extend the time period from the middle ages to the Discovery/Colonial age from Age 3?

    A 3D engine can still use isometric projection, I wonder why SC2 didn't do that.
