Nice one Tyler. I need to pick one of those up

That’s a great little adaptor. I just got one from Ignite Digi that lets me power my Komodo with my Inspire 2 batteries, which worked great on a recent shoot. I’ll have to see if they also make a shark fin.

It should really drain one battery first then it should drain the next battery afterwards.... There are some other battery plates that have this feature.... But the idea is there; where you have enough battery to leave your camera on for long durations of time with uninterrupted power, while being able to hot-swap batteries when one battery dies.

Great adapter, makes a lot of sense, especially with RED's which take a little while to boot up each time. I Would love to know you're thoughts on the Komodo Tyler, especially compared to the Ursa g2 & p6k. I'm currently shooting on the p6k but have been looking into picking up a Komodo.

Ya, it is especially nice for cams that take long to boot up. As for the Komodo, I will be making a video on it, but compared to the BMPCC6K, I don't see much reason to "upgrade" unless you need global shutter or just want that cue form factor.

D-tap cable (with safetap), connect to lemo power of the camera and remove v-mount. Insert the spare v mount. Remove lemo from komodo and put the empty v mount to charge. What's so hard?

Hi Tyler, wondering if u could put two bigger v mount on shark fin, let’s say the 155wh smallrig one, would that work or does it only take two 98wh? Thanks

Solid review 🎉 Do you trust Dtap to not cause any power issues? Kind of freaks me out so might invest in Safetap to Lemo cables

    • @TylerEdwards

No concerns with dtap here. The most important thing is to ensure all accessories are properly grounded. I haven’t had an issue personally

@@bradleykussy-ei6qo electronics can be fickle. Maybe dtap isn’t inserted all the way, maybe battery gets mounted a bit off, who knows. That’s why it’s best to power on all accessories. If they power on no issue, they should be properly grounded and then SDI can be plugged in.

Would love such a thing for the smaller micro batteries! I only get about an hour from an 98Wh v-mount with all accessories and the clients look confused with me constantly stopping the action and then the constant fear of frying the sdi port... 🥵

What the heck do you have on that camera? 100wh should keep the komodo recording 4 h (running 8h); a 7 shinobi would eat 20W per hour. That setup should run for 2 hours at least. What else are you powering?

It won’t work directly on the KX since it’s too wide but it should work with a battery plate

I’ve been looking at shark fins, or similar solutions, to help me avoid this issue of frying HDMI ports on my pocket 4K. I know there’s a start up and shut down sequence to help prevent this but I’ve heard many folks say to just power different devices separately. Anyway, if I were to use this would it be possible to power a monitor and/or evf off one battery and the camera off the other? Or are they both still on the same circuit…or whatever?
