I have a version of Midland which was released before this. The production is so much nicer on the original. It might be over-use of Treble Reduction on this version. But the original has so much more life to it.

Because people have opinions, now stop wasting your time looking at the dislikes and spend your time listening to the song.

I wondered a lot too, and I think I figured it out--well, at least it's a theory that makes sense to me. :)
"All I want is to be warm at home and well known. All I need is to be."
These lyrics, combined with a couple dancing in a very trusting way, bring to mind a very secure, happy relationship. Notice that the man is supporting the woman as she moves erratically around, almost squirming away from him: that becomes important. Also notice that he's wearing a clean, white shirt and that she's wearing all black.
"Oh giveth me all, I entitle it now. I've worked hard, deserve it full well."
If you've ever been with a selfish partner, this sounds very familiar. But it's not incriminating in and of itself: there's lot of room for personal interpretation.
"Purge me now. Cleanse my skull from all the things that I've been told. Oh no more thoughts, here talk my pulse. It finds (follows?) no time nor place."
Now the dancers are in a very intimate embrace. The woman's grasps and the lyrics both seem desperate, as if there's outside influences trying to pull them apart.
Notice that she's suddenly grasping a different man. Also, the ring on her finger has changed from a plain wedding band to a large, blood-red gem. I think this is fundamental to understanding the song: she's cheating on her partner. She looks out at the camera with a haunted, guilty look: she knows she's destroying her relationship. But like a woman who childishly tells her partner, "oh giveth me all, I entitle it now" she's unable to see past her impulsive desires.
"Oh bother me not. I'd rather have hush than this game of power house, the tearful name of collapse."
Suddenly she's back in the arms of the man with the white shirt, but there is physical conflict. They gesture towards each other as if they're in an argument. It seems as though she believes that if they did not address their issues, they could always remain an idyllic couple.
"I'll never move, I'll never move, I'll always be so still. I'll only go, as it shows, for being young and thrilled. I'll never go, I'll never grow as tall and fierce as me. Keep in mind I'm called unkind for doing what I feel."
She stubbornly refuses to change her ways, valuing the thrill of a fling and despising the 'long haul' of a healthy relationship. Although she feels grave guilt, she will not admit it to herself. Maybe she suspects that a good relationship is easier than this.
"I'll never move, I'll never move, I'll always be so still. I'll never go, I'll never grow, to be so done and ill."
I think that 'so done and ill' refers to her fear of settling down into a domestic married life. Or maybe resigning yourself to accepting what you're not happy with.
The next scene shows a crowd, dressed in black, standing around a bed and looking solemnly down as if it's an open casket. Then the couple are in the bed, fighting each other. He's literally smothering her, and she's pushing him away, trying to cover his mouth. Scenes of the woman dancing, full of anger, alone. In the next scene, they're in bed gazing at each other, breathing heavy as if they just had sex. In the next scene, they're both dancing in angry isolation. The violence has replaced sexual intimacy in their relationship: it's all they have left.
The scene at 2:49 seems to be a nod to the music video for "Enjoy the Silence:" a Depeche Mode song about how too much talk clutters the mind and stops people from expressing their affection for each other. Maybe she's had a rough past that's stopping her from accepting her partner's love? Do outside influences disapprove of him, and she feels guilty for letting them influence her? Maybe it's a reference to broader, cultural influences? Maybe it's about how pride ruins relationships. I'm not sure...

I find the video very inspiring and it actually tells a lot via contact improv and dance elements. I love these little brain teasing elements. Very open interpretation.

Unfortunately, this is a song that doesn't reach its potential. It has one of the most beautiful choruses I've ever heard in my life, however the rest of the song is just... bland. It's still a good song, but it could have been so much better...

Pedro Gonçalves I think that chorus is so great because the rest is bland as you call it.. so the chorus stand out more this way :)
