I've watched this movie around 10 times but I've never seen that What If? ending before. I'm guessing they must've filmed an alternate ending that was scrapped and somebody decided to edit it into this version of the movie, but tbh I prefer the original ending. I really enjoyed your reaction though.
Danny Boyle is one of the great filmmakers of our time. The "low budget" look of the film was intentional, to give the film an even starker, grittier feel and look. You will notice pops of color here and there (Hannah's dress, for example) across what is generally a bleak, bland landscape. This film is one of the best films ever made, in my opinion.
the 'what if ' ending was the original ending of the movie. however, when they test screened the movie, audiences felt that particular ending was too bleak, so boyle changed it ;) also, you might already know this but the main actor (cillian murphy) stars in 'oppenheimer' as well
As much as I remember, the what if was just an alternative end, probably released in a dvd edition, happened a lot in movies from the time, dvds were full of extra material (I miss that). I remember that the cable TV version (or theatrical version) had only the "Hello" ending. I usually don't like zombie movies but this was one of the firsts that promoted a scientific "pandemic" approach, that's and the good story makes this movie so good. Loved your reaction, Marian and I were jumping and screaming at the same time 😅 Love from Chile
Please react to 28 Weeks Later. As the title implies, you find out what happens after this... not with these characters, but definitely worth watching. Great reaction as always guys!!
Yeah finally 28 days later🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 please check the sequel 28 weeks later from 2007 With most terrifying opening in the movie history period!!!!!!! You need fresh underwear after that 😂 [just Kidding] can't wait 🧟🧟🧟🧟♀️🧟♂️🧟♂️🧟♀️
There was a lot of extra-media content for this movie, such as websites and internet shorts explaining the lore. Basically, the powers that be wanted to cone up with a cure for anger to cause world peace. In order to find a cure, they first found a way to infect rage. The beginning is how the rage virus escaped.
My first time watching this, I didn’t really like it to much. However, after watching it several more times on cable tv I started liking it. It grew on me.
I own this film and that “what if” part is not in the ending. All it did was give you guys confusion. Just pretend it ended with them waving hello. The dark ending is an alternate scene but not part of the original
This was the first movie to have fast moving zombies...first movie with zombies was white zombie ( 1932 ) the first recorded usage of the word Zombi comes from poet robert southly in 1819 the idea of zombies comes from Haitian folklore and voodoo practices during a ceremony the victim is given a drug concoction of native plants and fungi the person enters a trance state shuffling around unaware of their surroundings unable to communicate...a zombie
I think this is a great zombie movie, because it has a serious theme that transcends the sensationalism. The real monsters in this movie are not the zombies, but the dehumanized soldiers. The “What if” ending was the original ending. It got a bad reaction from a test audience, so they changed the ending to a happy one. I saw the full alternate ending on the bonus features section of the original DVD, I am not sure whether your version shows everything (I watched your edited reaction). The alternate ending was great because it showed Hannah turn from a weak, frightened child into a toughened adult because of Jim’s death. In a sense, vampires are the first zombies. Best book about vampire folklore is Paul Barber’s “Vampires, Burial, and Death” (Yale University Press, 1988). Zombies are a part of the Voodoo culture of Haiti and other nearby areas (such as New Orleans). The popular zombie craze really took off as a result of a serious academic book, "The Serpent and the Rainbow" by Wade Davis (1985). Davis was a Harvard ethnobotanist who became interested in zombification because of a real case in which a man escaped his drugged enslavement as a zombie. Davis immersed himself in the voodoo culture in Haiti and discovered the secret of how zombification is done. It is a fascinating book, which was unfortunately turned into an awful, ridiculous movie. BTW, the sequel to “28 Days Later” is utter trash, one of the worst horror movies ever made.
This movie was basically shot on a flip phone. They also failed to pull permites for some of the London shots. They had to shoot at like 5am for those abandoned city shots. The original ending was jim dying. However the test audience didnt like it so they rewrote it. Probably one of the few times the test audience got it right in my opinion.
Interesting, so, from what I remember, the “good” ending was for the American release, and the original theatrical release was the other “…what if” ending. So far, I have not seen anyone react to this film with that ending. I definitely agree it has a similar visual style as District 9, it’s been a while since I saw that one but if I recall it had a sort of documentarian thing going on. The zombie story originates from the slave culture of the Caribbean, specifically Haiti, and the genre was born after the Haitian revolution-The fear is that you can be enslaved even after the institution of slavery was ended, via magick. 1932’s film White Zombie depicts that. The modern zombie, when zombies evolved from mindless slaves to undead ghouls, comes from the novel I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, in 1964 the first film adapted of the book was released, The Last Man On Earth starring Vincent Price. In that film the “infected” shamble around like the zombies we know today, however, they are a sort of cross between a slow zombie and a vampire. In 1968, Night Of The Living Dead is released. Though the zombies are not explicitly called zombies at the time, (instead they are referred to as “ghouls”,) it is the commonly understood birth of the modern zombie, (btw, Night Of The Living Dead also happens to be in the public domain, just saying.) The writers of Night of The Living Dead, (filmmakers George A. Romero & Jack Russo,) pulled directly from I Am Legend/The Last Man On Earth for their film. Later the two would split over creative differences, George A. Romero continues making his zombie films using, “…Of The Dead,” in his titles, (Dawn Of The Dead; Day Of The Dead; Land Of The Dead; Diary Of The Dead; Survival Of The Dead.) Meanwhile, Romero’s former writing partner makes some of his own zombie film, which uses, “…Living Dead,” in the title, (Return Of The Living Dead-My favorite film.) I do not believe he has anything yo do with the sequels though. Anyway, I definitely recommend giving 28 Weeks Later a watch. The sequel picks up 28 weeks after the first film.
You guys really should check out the movie World War Z. And also all the movies leading up to Army Of The Dead, especially Army Of The Dead. Makes you wonder sometimes...I've heard crazy stories of experiments being conducted without the publics knowledge.
I think the first mention of Zombies was the bible revelations and the dead will rise. I think George A Romero did the first Zombie movie. These aren't really zombies though, more like a government manufactured form of rabies.
The Bible saying the dead will rise does not mean that they become flesh eating zombies. It means dead people will be brought back to life to face judgement for the sins they committed. So in effect, God's judgment will apply to both those who are alive and those who have died. If you believe the bible that is.
Theatrical cut is way better. None of that stupid “I hate you” crap from the kid. I swear, having to sanitize a rated R film for modern audiences is pure mongoloid thinking.
Why are you calling the infected zombies? Same thing with The Last of Us: people don't know how to differentiate between zombies and infected. Zombies are undead; they are walking corpses. The only way to kill them is by destroying their brains. Infected people are people who are alive but are infected; it's not the same. You can kill them by shooting at any part of the body, strangulation, etc.
After 28 Days Later, watch the sequel 28 Weeks Later.
That was the alternate ending. You saw the release ending with the HELLO.
I've watched this movie around 10 times but I've never seen that What If? ending before. I’ve never seen this either. It was not in the theaters from what I remember. They should’ve left it alone.
I thought it was just me!
It was the original ending before the theatrical release. The ending you saw in the movie was the alternate ending.
Same here. Seen this film since the first weekend and twice a yr for several yrs afterwards and never seen this.
Me too… never knew that ending existed.

@@MJoy4Fun yeah, I enjoyed it. Love you guys!
The music is truly underrated in this film.
Great reaction! I’ve never seen this alternate ending.
I think it was a deleted scene. It was never in the original and shouldn’t be in my opinion
@@NemeanLion- i think so too!
28 Months Later opens this Friday! I’m so excited!
Yeah, I hope they make a 28 years later after that.

Jim living was the theatrical original release ending.
You must have watched some special edition with the alternate end.
That "what if " is an alternate ending from the DVD. The real ending is Jìm surviving. Also you get some answers in the sequel.

With most terrifying opening in the movie history period!!!!!!! You need fresh underwear after that 😂

A most intelligent horror film. I liked how the uninfected were the real monsters. The infected were just sick.
yess exactly!

Jim seen the plane and that gave him hope
Whoa...wtf was the "what if?" Screw that. Mrs Mustard killed Col Purple in the study with the zombie candlestick? Huh?
🧟 🕯️🏒?
I believe zombie comes from Haitian-African folklore and voodoo where a curse could reanimated a corpse back to life
My first time watching this, I didn’t really like it to much. However, after watching it several more times on cable tv I started liking it. It grew on me.
there is different approach towards movies when we grow older

You two should watch peaky blinders! I think you’ll love it, especially Marian! It stars Cillian Murphy who was in this film
this is a pretty good portrait of how a society could fall apart if hit by a super plague but think the enraged zombie part is pure science fiction⚛😀
They are not zombies (undead)! These are infected, like in the last of us! I really enjoyed your reaction.❤🎉
Oh, another Netflix film I think you will enjoy: #Alive.
28 weeks later after this 😊
The sequel 28 weeks later is not bad as well, should watch it.
the original ending and with Jim alive

how did the RAGE escape the LAB??
