When I was 15 years old that I really did hurt my left knee in a fall. I slipped on a patch of ice as I was heading to school. I really did hurt my knee and started to cried a lot in that fall. My father forced me to go to school. I was about to cried in school because of my left knee. Luckily that I didn’t have my 1st class till 3rd period. I was in this one class to used for getting help on some of my classes. For the 1st 2 periods. The 2nd period that I went down stairs towards the nurse office. I was sitting in a chair waiting for my father. It was getting crowded in the nurse office as I remembered. One kid that was sitting on the floor. I think that I had iced my knee in the office. When I was home my knee swelled up in a bent position that I can’t straighten it at all. My father had gotten a pair of crutches for me from his school that he was teaching from. I did got pretty good in them in walking around the house. I have my left knee up in the air. I used my right leg and even the crutches to used in walking. My father had me to used one of them instead of both of them. My left knee healed about 2 weeks. I missed 5 days of school of that knee injury. The school has a elevator in it. When I was waiting for it to go downstairs for PE. I went downstairs on my own very carefully. I only used the elevator a little bit. I even hurt my knee in playing softball in PE by the end of the year. It wasn’t as bad before. It took a week to healed. During my senior year of high school that I hurt my right knee and left knee off and on over the year. I got used to it and didn’t even cried at all. Of course each time it took a week to get back to normal. I still go upstairs on my good knee and go down on my bad knee. I have no problems in doing that for a long time till in 2012. I rather go back to do it. My left knee is bad but, my right one is good. I just walked very slowly and carefully during the winter time because for me it is harder for me to get back up from the ground w/o anything to lean on for getting up and even sitting on to sit a little bit. The last time that I was the ground that I did slip that I slide down towards my hands and knees to crawl towards my SUV. I used the lift gate to helped me to lift myself up from the ground. Last winter that I was afraid of walking towards my car because there was crunchy snow and ice mixer on the walkway. I was afraid of walking that distance towards my vehicle in the parking lot. I did slipped on a small patch of ice a little bit over 5 years ago as I forgot it was behind my vehicle. Of course that I used the lift gate to helped me back up. I even sat in that area for a little bit. I closed the lift gate to get into the driver’s side to picked up my mother after seeing an attorney on her will. I was driving my vehicle with her in it. I do missed my mother and even my father, too. I have to be extremely careful during the winter.

Transitioning takes time and it's hard but hopefully, your PT can further guide you on this. @^^@ (Are you under the supervision of any healthcare practitioner?) if you feel it's very difficult for you to navigate then you can talk with them :)
