- In May 2022 I solo hiked 170 Km on the GR221 - the Drystone Route in Mallorca. I was wild camping every night carrying all my gears. I would resupply on food regularly whenever i passed by any village on the way. Water being scarce on trail, i would usually carry 3L for the day and refill whenever possible.
Pack weight: 14kg excluding water.

Thanks for your non-dialog video. Sometimes people is babling on and on.
Your video is so beautiful that words are not necessary.
I hope to do the GR 221 in the end of september 2023.
Thank you so much! I love capturing nature in it's true state, it's such a peaceful feeling.
I just did this hike in March. It was fucking hard! At some points I had to carry 4L of water!! I was too tired to feel tranquil. But I lost belly fat and got good sleep.
Gorgeous video, the way it is edited deserves all the praise. I enjoyed every second, music is just outstanding and fits perfectly.
Thank you 🙏
Great video again, thank you 😊
Thank you 🙂
Gotta love my magical and legendary Mallorca!!!!!!!!
Yes it a beautiful little island
Beautiful, I love Majorca. Thank you so much for sharing😊
Thank you Helen
Yeah, finally a new piece of you Avish! A great new video man, the scenery out there looks amazing. I have been to Mallorca several times but never did a proper hike there. Looks like an awesome adventure, I guess I really have to check out the GR221 soon ;) Thank you very much for inspiring me man. Wish you a wonderful week.
Hi Mario. Thanks for the encouraging words. Yes you should definitely check this hike out, specially in the shoulder season when mainland Europe is wet and cold, Mallorca is the place to hike ;)
Happy days on trail 🙂
Stunning, looking at this start of October, look forward to seeing more of your adventures.
Take care and best wishes Eric.
Thank you Eric 🙂
Great adventure 👍🏻 love the scenery 🔥
Wow ... never seen a Mallorca Video like that. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you. It’s was indeed a beautiful Journey.
So relaxing men. Great job !
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Well done Avish. Really enjoyed that. A long trek on such hard rocky surfaces. Some lovely sunsets and sunrise. Also the sounds of nature were well captured. I would imagine you really enjoyed that meal in Port de Pollenca when you finished. Take care
thanks Andrew. yes it's a beautiful trek and having a proper meal after 1 week is rewarding :)
Wow great adventure !
Thanks man 🙏
Camp of silence 👍
well done Avish, one of the most underrated trails although still famous hike. I spend many years in Mallorca and the Tramuntana mountains are magical! Most videos online are more high tours or even alpine like, but this is also beautiful Maybe with additional drone shots it would have add even something extra. Enjoy your future hikes!
Thanks Maurice. My next hiking video will have amazing drone footage. Coming up soon :)
@@adventuresofavish I will look forward, I will do myself also a hike in the Alps next week, keep it on🙏🏔️🔥
@@mauricelamain1978 Enjoy the alps. You'll love it

Great video brother
Thanks my dingo brother
Very nice. Thinking about hiking the GR221 spontaneously end of September, too. But since I am still afraid of wild camping, I will stay in the Refugis. :-)
Hey enjoy you hike. Mallorca in a very safe and beautiful place.
Zoli net sa bro! Continuer Push!
Thanks bro
SUPER🙂
merci :)
I found this video on accident. I think I know what I need to do now. I think I know what I should do. All I have to do is commit. Five years from now I will be in this place, for myself. Nobody will have told me. Nobody will have recommended it me. It will be my choice.
Hey man am glad you find this video and happy to hear that you are planning your own adventurous journey. Enjoy 🙂
Thanks for the video Avish. Still debating if it's worth going hiking in March.
You could get lucky with the weather or have mix weather like in my video. It will still be an adventure 😉
Kraig adam local sa mo frere. 👍👍🔥🔥
Hehe 💚 merci frerla
What sorts of water sources were you able to find?
Great movie! I plan to do similar trip next week. Please tell me how about water on the way? Where do you wash??
Hi. Water is scarce on trail. Drinking water, You will find one shop on every stage, where i would buy 2-3L everyday. I also had a filter with me and could filter occasionally if i passed by a stream ( but i would not rely on the streams, most were dry)
For washing, i used merino clothes that don't require much washing. if you really want a shower, you could rely on official campgrounds and use their shower.
Wonderful video! I am now completely convinced and planning this trip in a few weeks. What is the location at 28:41 ?
Hi. Thanks. Did you hiked the route yet. The location is Panoràmica cap al Cap Formentor. Enjoy
Hi there! Great trip... Got some questions... How much money do you spent on that hike, and mainly what did you bought (water, gas, food in cafes etc) and how many people come across on the road, I love tourism alone in the wild, I have the impression that crowds of tourists go to Palma, but on your video you can see that you are often alone and there seems to be no one around? Thank you.
Hello there.
About Money: i would say around 10 -15 euros per day to buy supplies (water which is very scarce on trail, canned fish, fruits and bread) This exclude cost of 1 gas canister and transport to get to the trail head. Obviously if you sleep in hotels and eat in restaurants your you have to factor in additional cost.
About Crowds: I hiked early in the season so you are right, i didn't meet a lot of people. In lots of stages i was completely alone on trail for hours. Tourists stick mainly to the main villages so once you get into the wild you won't see lots of them.
@@adventuresofavish Thank you very much, your answers are very inspiring! I’m interested in budget tourism in a tent, it’s wonderful that here it’s strictly with campsites and you can put up an awning wherever you want!..
was it easy to find secluded spots? Im thinking of going in a few weeks but a bit insecure about how strict they are with wildcamping. It looks amazing!
Yes it was quite easy compared to other hikes i've done. There are a lot of flat spots around the hiking trails. You just need to look around a little bit.
Great vid!
Where did you get the gas for your stove before the trip?
Thank you. It’s available in most of the sports stores in Palma.
Hi Avish, nice vid! I've done the sections from Valdemossa to Soller. They were pretty straightforward. However, I'd like to do the first sections from Port d'Andratx, but I'm aware that waymarking is not great, and there are disputes over access. How did you find this, please?
It’s a beautiful part and you have great views from the top. Also water is scarce on this part, so carry enough. For navigation, Yes waymarking was not clear but you should look for piles of stacked stones leading the way. Also use an off trail app to navigate. I use maps.me and OsmAnd and you would be fine :)
Thank you
Another question, I know that in the Canaries (this is also Spain, like the Baleares) there is legislation that obliges tourists to register and stay only in campsites ... On the path of dry stone in Mallorca, can you stop anywhere? Or did you also stay in special places, campsites? Thank you... Looking forward to the next videos, they are exciting!
Just walk a few km outside of the villages into the wild, there's lots of place to pitch your tent. I would pitch around sunset and leave early morning and it was totally fine. I prefer the freedom to roam and explore, registering at campsites is not really my thing.
@@adventuresofavish Thanks!
Where are you on the last day? Is it on the peninsula sticking out to the east of port pollenca?
Yes it’s there
@@adventuresofavish thanks I shall go forth to cliff paradise past the finish like yourself.
And thank you for creating such art for us to enjoy
Amazing
Thank you 🙏
How do you find a spot for camping? is there a map that shows them on-line? what about water fountains?
Camping spot is not very hard to find. Use of a map is not necessary although it's useful if you know how to read contour lines. Usually one hour before sunset i will start looking around me while hiking. Lots of place to camp, just get out of the villages. Water is something i had to buy everyday, usually 2-3 litres. Water fountains are not really there
