I'm a primary teacher, I once showed this video to a bunch of 6yr olds on my phone. While usually I can barely keep their attention for more than a few seconds, one boy in class suddenly started bawling during this video. I asked what was wrong and he said "I don't know! I don't know why I'm crying!" I had to explain to him that what he was feeling was the Spirit, the love of God.
I picture the Mother as being Heavenly Father or Christ making my special gift, and then sharing it with others. When they wondered what came of my gift, and I tell them I have given it to another, we all embrace with tears of joy. :)
This one always gets me. I had an experience on my LDS Mission that was much like this. I will never forget it for as long as I live. We were just about to end the day and we biked right by this kid with shorts and a small coat on. It was late November in Idaho, and it was cold! We biked right by him, waving to make sure he knew that we recognized his presence. About halfway down the street to get out of that trailer park, both my missionary companion and I got the feeling that we should go back and talk to this kid. We went back and talked with him about Christ, told him that there were prophets on the earth today and gave him a Book of Mormon. We said a prayer with him, gave him a hug, and he went back into the shadows. The next week he was at church, his mom had been touched and dropped him off there. The young man changed and found confidence and true friends. He was baptized about six months later and I got to be there for that. One of the most special experiences of reaching out to "the one" I've ever had in my life. I'm sure that young President Heber J. Grant was touched by this scene and if he ever needed some comfort, re-imagining and pondering on that wonderful moment from that one Christmas would give him some of the comfort he needed. "Slightest actions often meet the sorest needs" -Hymn #230: "Scatter Sunshine" Verse 2)
Sometimes the coat can be replaced with a kind word, or some quality time with someone. Charity doesn't always have to be something big, so long as we are willing to give what we have.
I love this message. It made me remember that when I help someone, I should give them my best. Heber could have gone back home and given the homeless boy his old coat but instead he gave him his new coat. That is such a meaningful way to live life.
I have been in the church for two years I'm so happy I found the right Church and there's a lot of friends in youth and I subscribed to all of the Mormon channels on UA-cam
They served not only each other, but the orphan as well. It’s a really kind and beautiful message about serving others who are not as fortunate as others.
I've loved this story ever since I was young. The first time I watched it, it brought tears to my eyes. Now when I watch I know how much God loves us and protects us. We thank thee Heavenly Father for lending us you're strength.

I am not mormon, but I love these Christmas videos! Its good feeling and inspiring. PS: I know this story of Saint Martin, a Catholic saint (who was knight on a horse) who gave the half of his big coat to a poor sick man, laying on the side of the road. And he brought him to a house and asked the owner to care for the man and St. Martin paid for it.
So this guy- Saint Martin- was almost a real-life version of the Good Samaritan from Jesus' story? Literally came across an unwell dude on the road(sure, sick, not robbed and beaten within an inch of his life, but whatever, I did say "almost") and paid for his care? Awesome. Go Saint Martin. Dude obviously paid attention in class when they went over the parables.
It is amazing how he cared for the other kid, by giving him a coat that his mom made for him, that I know is an act of service and I know that he did the right thing
As a child, I watched this and cried and told my mom: " If I were the kid with the coat, I would do the same thing " And now, years later, I still smile and my heart warms up while watching this. Thank you!! For this video!
I know this is true. My mom and dad are such good examples of people who minister in a pure way. I’m grateful and I hope to embody that Christlike love
I watched this video with my 4 year old granddaughter. She was spell bound and silent. As the video finished she came to me hugged me and snuggled up in my lap. Our home was filled with love and sweet peace. A very precious moment.
I am not sure about anyone else, but to learn about a true experience from the life of a prophet is so inspiring, and really helps the lesson of "it is better to give than to receive" become an important part of or lives. What also comes to mind is the quote, "your life is God's gift to you; what you do with your life is your gift to God."
There's a saying in Hindi : Neki kar dariya mein daal. Do good (noble deeds) and forget about it. Be discreet with your kindness. This is a beautiful story on charity.
I have watched this movie several times with my 2 year old and each time it has brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful story with a powerful message. Thank you for sharing.
Most watching this probably know this but for any who don't--This is a true story from the life of George Albert Smith. Truly touching example of living what you preach.
I remember hearing this one in sunday school as a child, I believe it's a story that helped save me or in other words it helped save my heart. It's quite intense as far as humaness goes.
To me, this is what Mormonism is to the core. Who cares what doctrinal differences there are if this is what it is all about? I bet that little boy didn't care what faith the prophet was.
The coat may represent the Savior's love and comfort. Just as to the love, comfort, and warmth that our parents or families give, we too would have peace and joy in helping others that might feel cold and are in need of comfort to feel His love for us.
This reminds me of a talk in General Conference referring to Matthew 25:40, as did this video: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Heber J. Grant was and truly is a child sent of God to help people in need, like this little boy. Thanks for sharing this video.
I will never get tired of saying that joining this church was the best thing I could have ever done!
We're happy you joined.
Yep we’re really happy joined

planning on showing to my YW class! hope they like it!
That is amazing

What a good insight!

I love this, thank you for your comment.
Very good.
God is will.
So cute! The picture of the boy who was given the coat at the end made me cry!
me 2!
Me too!
This video can make more of an impact on people than any other video...without even saying a word. That is power.
I love this message. It made me remember that when I help someone, I should give them my best. Heber could have gone back home and given the homeless boy his old coat but instead he gave him his new coat. That is such a meaningful way to live life.
This is what Jesus taught us... Awesome story
Compassion in any true form can be like a warm coat or blanket. Amen to that. 💝☮️🎄
Yes giving charity unto the least of your brothers and sisters is a wonderful gift for u and for them.

Brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. If I could only be so selfless. What a blessing.
Thank you for this sweet simple portrayal of love and compassion. Isn't this exactly why our Savior wants us to be as little children?
These videos make me have a good feeling every time.I also cry every time and I'm young

It is so beautiful, and the little kid looks so cozy in the end, in his new red coat ...makes me cry every time
I cry with solemn joy every time I watch this.
who can dislike such a beautiful video?
Such a simple illustration of compassion that words did not even need to portray. Easily understood by even the youngest
The best cartoon ever.
From a Persian Muslim.
God bless you all
I can never get through this video without crying. I hope to be like that.
We feel good when we help others, and we need to take care of ourselves too!!
One simple act of kindness will lift a lonely soul ❤❤❤
Religious or not, this video has a beautiful message. I love it!
I agree totally.

This is something my little 9 year old niece would do! It's so touching! If only everyone can think like this little boy!
My son's favorite. Please, please more like thus soon
I look forward to showing this video to my children. Short enough to keep their attention, simple message for them to understand. Thank you!
to the artist: thanks for using your creative talents to share the Savior's message with the world
Now! that's how to bring a grown man - a hard cynic to tears. Well done!! Simple but oh, so effective.

Some of the most powerful videos put out by the church say nary a word. Powerful.
No words needed to convey this powerful message. I wish there were more messages like this!
This story always makes me cry, I love it so much! 🥺🥲🥰
Man these videos show me who I really am and want me to be a better person like president grant..
Simple yet deep lesson. Fantastic!
I would love to see more like this. My little boys love this one.
Beautiful animation and a beautiful story. This is the sort of material that UA-cam was made for.
'this is what Charity is about. Simple but touching story. It does soften the heart as it wets the eyes.

That boy is very responsible. And caring
You can never be too young to start being a great man
this shows no matter of how old you are you can always give to people in need
I love This Story but it made me cry Two Times.
When I watch this it touches my heart
This is one of the best Mormon Messages I've seen. It reminds me of the one with the boys putting the dollar coins in the farmers' shoes.
There's a saying in Hindi : Neki kar dariya mein daal. Do good (noble deeds) and forget about it. Be discreet with your kindness. This is a beautiful story on charity.
This story always makes me cry.
This video is very emotional and very expressive
I have watched this movie several times with my 2 year old and each time it has brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful story with a powerful message. Thank you for sharing.
Most watching this probably know this but for any who don't--This is a true story from the life of George Albert Smith.

Who dislikes things like this? I wonder. Even though this was a little cartoon, I learned A LOT.
love this how can no one like this
I remember hearing this one in sunday school as a child, I believe it's a story that helped save me or in other words it helped save my heart. It's quite intense as far as humaness goes.
This Video is absolutely great and a really important message to the world. That allready children wear the Spirit of doing good in their heart.
A strong meaningful message, can say so much, without words 😊

We can't help everyone but everyone can help someone...
Please help helpless children and helpless people
This makes a 15-year-old boy cry every time.
To me, this is what Mormonism is to the core. Who cares what doctrinal differences there are if this is what it is all about? I bet that little boy didn't care what faith the prophet was.
Just love how there are no words, makes it that much sweeter!
This shows great parenting. The way she reacted would have help to shape him into the amazing man he turned out to be.
The coat may represent the Savior's love and comfort. Just as to the love, comfort, and warmth that our parents or families give, we too would have peace and joy in helping others that might feel cold and are in need of comfort to feel His love for us.
This was so deep and simple and true.... It made me cry tears of joy. Whoever made this animation, thank you
Beautiful. Moved me to tears.
I cry every time.
this made me tear up such a great message

This gave me tears😢😢
it may be easy to give when we have plenty....but true charity is giving when it's hard.
