    I guess you don't need to be a hybrid hypercar or need forced induction to get under 7min lap times. Truly jaw dropping. Amazing stuff from Lambo.

      SoCalSupercars Lamborghini learned at lot from Veneno development. This SV model benefits from it. I still think Veneno is faster here because of less weight.

    • @nivracer
      @nivracer 9 років тому +29

      Jeffrey Williams There is going to be a lot more down force too. I wish Lamborghini would take a Veneno out on ‪Nürburgring‬.

    • @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94
      @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94 9 років тому +27

      SoCalSupercars I will assume that 918 is the best hypercar in track among the three because the other two are just afraid like chicken when there is a track test. And us we knew from Evo battle between 918 and P1 that corsa is less sticky tire than both MPC2 and Trofeo R. So, if possible to fit one of these two tires in Aventador, it will definitely be faster than 918 which is the best on the track out of the three. Then, we can say all goodbye hypercars.

    • @jeffwill4923
      @jeffwill4923 9 років тому +5

      nivracer The wing can be manually adjusted. There isn't no DRS like P1 but Veneno would do better in corners because of slightly more downforce. The straits I'm not so sure still would nice to see it have a go.
      Lamborghini claims 220mph for Veneno and 217 SV model. So much for all that drag.Not proven yet but numbers are interesting.

    • @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94
      @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94 9 років тому +1

      ***** Yes, it is but ferrari managers are afraid to show what their car can do. So far they have been invited in three test but they declared from all. I think they are afraid of P1 may be. I do not really know why but they are afraid of something for sure.

      Alex Bliss Especially if you play anything sim-like on pc or console, it's easy to think that they could've shaved off a solid 3-4 seconds with a better run. But taking a company's gem out and ripping up a circuit like Nurburgring is a feat in itself. You can imagine how frayed the driver's nerves were by the end. With that much power, he probably needed 15 minutes just to gain full speech function back ;)

      In a way I can understand that logic, because if you look at the Aventador's V12 predecessors (the Diablo [4K LBS], Reventon [4K LBS], Murcielago [3.8K LBS], and Murcielago SV [3.6K LBS]) they were all tanks in comparison. The original Aventador came in at just over 3,400lbs (which actually isn't all that bad with all the new equipment they're shoving into these super/hyper sports-cars nowadays) with the new SV weighing just slightly under 3,300lbs. You've gotta admit that's one hell of a light car for everything it's got crammed into it, AWD, electronics, V12, ect... When compared to other AWD sports cars like the Subaru STI or Mitsubishi EVO, both of which weigh more and both of which have engines that are about 1/3 the weight. It all really just comes down to the materials being used now, that weren't 10, 15, 20, or even 5 years ago. When the entire chassis (or I guess monocoque) is made from carbon fibre, along with all the body panels, these cars can afford to carry all these extra amenities, use AWD, have big engines, and still keep their weight down which is the key in their ability to handle really well. Because really all an Aventador is, is a modern day AWD Diablo. Not much in the way of suspension and engine technology has changed that much, to the point where if the same materials used on the Diablo were used on the Aventador, the difference in time between the two going around the same circuit wouldn't be much at all. However the change in materials ALONG with the updates in technology has slingshotted the performance of these new super/hyper cars to a level that previously took 50-60 years to achieve in really only 10-20 years. Of course a large reason for this happening now rather than 40-50 years ago is because of the cost of materials going down (carbon fiber) and the persistence of the manufacturers to use new methods of propulsion in more than just commuter cars ([hybrid technology in cars like the P1, LaFerrari, 918, and NSX] which 50 years ago would've been science fiction because the oil companies were buying patents for any type of hybrid vehicle, left and right. All to prevent the tech from being admitted into new models exception for manufacturers concept cars). Luckily governments have slowly begun to tighten its squeeze on controlling the climate for the better and have come out with new laws requiring cars to get better gas mileage. So now instead of selling off those hybrid patents the manufacturers are either keeping them and applying them to their own vehicles or focusing on making their cars more efficient, which makes technologies that were once overly complicated and expensive, go up in demand. So now we have more R&D being done on new materials and ideas being put into more products lowering the prices. Thats why the Aventador SV ($400K) of today handles light years better than the Reventon ($1Million) of 2008, even though the Reventon employed many of the new things the SV does, it couldn't do it on the same scale because of cost. So instead of being just a straight line monster its also a track beast.

    Absolutely staggering! What i like most about the idea of only being 3 seconds short to the 918 is, that all of this was achieved in a wild SV version of a big angry V12 powered Italian bull! As many journalist said, big V12 Lamborghinis always had that certain fear factor to them, that the car could kill you every second you were driving it and that with the Aventador, this fear factor was gone missing. After seeing the lap of the SV pushed to the limit (and on few occasions just lurking over the edge of it), I am not so sure anymore, that they were right..

Also the most track related German car magazine (sportauto) uses this reference lap for their famous "supertest". So all the laptimes for NoS you heard or read in the last years are such of the industry-lap.

I know it's totally irrelevant how fast a car is in some track, and how the car actually drives and feels is far more important, but just for fun, it would be nice to see how far they can be pushed. By the way, I think a new 911 Turbo S might get seriously close to 7 minute mark, considering how fast it is in comparison to a 918 on shorter tracks.

    • @samr1321
      @samr1321 9 років тому

      +wiredsk8r Unlike Porsche, Ferrari doesn't care about Nurburgring. Porsche 918 was specifically designed and developed to lap the Ring, but LaFerrari is built to be fast around any track. Ferrari 599FXX lapped the ring 6:58, now how much faster the LaFerrari is gonna be. Also, Ferrari has sold every single LaFerrari and for that matter they don't care about laptimes. It is Porsche who cares abut advertising their car.

I am skeptical it will destroy the 918 time but it would be amazing to see it achieve a mid 6:40. It looked like it struggled to get the power down at the most recent Vmax event, not outpacing the Veyron but maybe that was a conscious choice on the driver's part.

    •  8 років тому +1

      I'm sure they aren't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes as they also openly stated that the car is running different tires too. You probably shouldn't assume that there were other modifications made though. It's likely that there is a roll cage because they only had enough time for like one or two laps, it would not have been safe to have the driver push this car to its absolute limits on only two laps; you can even see the driver almost lose control a few times. The roll cage and the tires are likely the only modifications made to the car and neither are hidden.

    This amazing car (amongst others) doesn't ride and break records by itself, it would be nice to mention the name of this fine driver we witnessed here.

    Great video! Please lap it with Trofeo R tires from Perilli. It will be at least 5 seconds faster for sure :-)

    Not a fan of stationary flappy paddles. You see the driver having to take his hands off the wheel to change gear on occasions.

      Same thing for the GTR. Pretty sure than they will change it though, that in the future, flaps will move along the wheel in almost any car

    And to think he did that with more than one hairy moment and lots of corrective lock on the steering. My word what a mega lap

    Very impressive. Down on power by 150 hp or so as compared to the 918 and only 2 sec slower over 20.8 km, that is nothing. That tells me either the 918 is way overrated or the Aventador SV is absolutely brilliant. Or both. And that is before you compare the price points of the two cars. I would take the Lambo any day.

    • @whatiwant8898
      @whatiwant8898 8 років тому +1

      The SV is just brilliant. Look at the Viper ACR as another example of pure brilliance. The 918 isn't overrated because it can be beat. The 918 is hyped so much BECAUSE it can set those lap times AND get 40mpg.

    • @Rascallucci
      @Rascallucci 8 років тому

      WhatIWant But, seriously though, if you can afford a 918, I doubt fuel economy would be a top concern. LOL. Besides, it is supposed to be a hypercar whereby cars like the SV shouldn't be able to come close to its performance. Just look at the McLaren P1, I don't think any car can touch it apart from in a straight line.

    credits to the driver! i dont agree with the timing though, the lap starts about 20 metres after where it finishes; if they started and stopped in the same place there wouldnt be a 6.59 time - it would be over 7 minutes.

    4:40 enter the tempest!
    I think this is the Aventador's absolute limit, after that it's too dicey.
    Just not enough grip at front for track use.

      turbisios coz you cant have an n/a beat a hybrid hypercar man.. wouldnt look right.. mclaren p1 918 laferrari all meant to be the best track/street cars and to be beat by the lambo would put a shame to the hypers.... cant have that ;)
      but god damn... more and more respect for lambo they are marvelous :)

    • @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94
      @Mustafa_Al_Bulushi94 9 років тому +1

      turbisios I think that because both Lamborghini and Porsche are in the same group (VW group). And they don't want to affect each others sales and since not all 918 have been sold they may wait for while until all 918 are sold then they may go and beat 918 time using either MPC2 or Trofeo R. That is just my opinion.

      Mustafa Al Balushi 918 is sold out and porsche doesnt get money for selling the 918 its just to cover the developing costs. the 918 is a car thats only made to show what the company is able to do, they dont build the 918 for sales.

    • @3023597
      @3023597 9 років тому +6

      DoctaM3 Thats not true! The Ferrari 599XX did a 6:58min, but Ferrari didn´t cheat like Porsche or Lamborghini. If you do a 100% FULL(!) Lap in these cars (918 & LP750) and dont stop the watch 80m before the finishline then you came up with times around 7:03 -7:05min. As a German i have to say that it is a shame that Porsche needs to cheat to get their under 7min car. But anyway the performance of the Lambo is very impressive!
