Some years ago,,i remember an advert placed in one of the motorcycle magazines for MOUNTING BRACKETS FOR SATURN 5 ROCKET MOTORS,(fits NSU quickly)....🤣😂
Quite common issue with aging carburettors, even 2CV ones can suffer "the bends" with that deformation forming over time, and the solution is what you did, make it flat again with some sanding (or for those with such equipment, milling the mating faces down to level), though a quick fix is a thick gasket that can seal the curvature, but really it's best to just get it all flat again... :)
Great video. My father had one in the late 1950s and take me on a kids seat on the back, it was a quick moped compared to the competition (45mph+?) - so exciting.
love your moped vlogs - I have never had a desire to ride a motorbike nor a moped but I find these so calming. Also fascinating - in post war Europe anything that got you mobile was desirable and so much innovative engineering was used
I went out for a short trip on my Honda nc50 yesterday, after it has been standing for 5 months in winter hibernation. The fun of driving overrules the cold. 🥶😂
Exotic Moped for us in the States, but common problem of 2 stroke enthusiasts everywhere. My Maico 490 took quite some time to sort out the crankcase leaks after i bought it. It had been "rebuilt" but still ran poorly. Once i sorted out all the air leaks it was back to being an absolutely bike.
Nice with a relatively easy fix, once you know what you’re looking for! The knowing-what-to-look-for is the tricky part! Had a similar case of “false air” on my Suzuki k50 - the threads in the engine casing holding the side cover on were bad, so I could not get a good seal, so it was sucking in air between the engine side cover and the crank case. Luckily I knew a guy who could weld aluminium, so he was able to build up the area around the thread and tap a larger thread!
To flatten carburator flanges i always use some sandpaper and a piece of glas. In my mind it is more percise than a sander. If you are looking for a little more power, in germany the nsu quicklys were allowed to drive 40-45 kmh. I dont know how the quicklys were restricted in denmark but you could reserch it and look for unrestricted parts from germany.
I had a L model when I was 16 in the UK that would go 30+ mph (48 + kph) on a flat road without any problem. At the time they were being imported to the UK there was no restriction on speed, the requirement being under 50cc and had a means of being propelled by pedals. I think they were restricted for the various markets by the size of and type number of the carburettor fitted. Looking for spare parts suppliers I found main jet listings from a German NSU specialist for two sizes of carburettor - Standard range for 1/9 carburettors: 54 - 58 and Standard range for 1/12 carburettors: 60 - 66, my understanding is that the 9 and 12 refer to bore size. I also found an article on someone in the UK rebuilding their Quickly and that has a Bing type 1/12/136
Once upon a time my baby brother had a honda pa 50 camino. Trust me the speed restrictor was removed the very next day. UK its 30mph/50kph max. Tinkered with an easy 40 plus mph

I'm glad you got the moped working better. Great find on the vacuum leak.
Puh ist das kompliziert gemacht, aber letztendlich hat es doch einigermaßen zum Erfolg geführt

I saw the title and thought it would be the Ro 80, knowing that you are drawn to quirky cars! Well done on sorting your moped out.
Seaside garage definatly needs a Nsu ro80 at some point.
I would looooove a ro80!

Wow I've never seen a smoke machine used to find air leaks on a 2 cycle. Great tip!
I got one! and I dont smoke anymore.. so have to find new uses for it!

More moped videos will come now that the weather is getting warmer! :P

What a fantastic little vehicle!
Title ideas:
- This NSU Quickly should be quicker
- Working on the the NSU Quick-ish

That was fun! Good work too. Thanks. Les in UK 🇬🇧
Well done I hope it’s cured. I have identical moped and similar problems, I’ll give the inlet manifold an inspection 👍
Its common on them :)
Super fedt .med den nsu .. er selv igang med en K50 1976 .... venter stadig på opstart og testkørsel af lille diesel
Jeg skal nok! .... på et eller andet tidspunkt! haha

My old British seagull outboard 2 strokes run about 70psi. They run great though
Thanks
First set of wheels foe me back in the day. I paid £8 for it. 👍
Nice, i have one completely Restored from a Terrible Condition 😂
The exhaust pipe carbon issue was common cause of weak engine.
Love
Jeg skulle ha sagt det når du ordnet med den sist! Samme problemet jeg hadde med min puch.
Do you know what the compression should be on a 1964 Raleigh Mobilette RM 6?
MotoGP here he comes. 😄
In Most Cases it’s a Dirty De Compression Ventile that not closed right
Ok The Bakelite sealing 😅
Entertaining as always. Strange but entertaining. Here in France they let 14 year Olds and convicted drunk drivers out on mopeds capable of 49kph!
Do mopeds not need registration in Denmark?
Vintage mopeds don´t need registration, but insurance is needed.
Only insurance :)
2nd class riding is always better than 1st class walking !!!!!!
Is not quickly.. what
the model name is quickly. But its not quick :D
@kosir1234 It sure beat walking in post war Denmark!
@@keepyourbilsteins it stil beats walking and looks cool :D
