😂😂😂 I assure you, it doesn't get better in the german version of the movie - there "Biggus Dickus" is replaced with "Schwanzus Longus" 🙃
The only instruction that the actors without lines was to not laugh 😅
I can’t tell which is funnier about that scene: the guards being genuinely unable to control their laughter, or Michael Palin staying in-character and maintaining his Silly Voice as he improvised around and through the uncontrollable laughter.
This was no improv, but outside of the main actors the cast themselves did not know. They were just given the instructions to NOT laugh no matter what. Which is why this scene is so realistic. No way this could be acted.
The Roman soldier laughter was REAL during filming

No, the scene was not improvised. They rarely improvised any scenes. They were writers first and actors second. They worked out everything ahead of time, which is why there is hardly ever a throwaway.
You neeeeeed to see the full movie!! "Life of Brian" by Monty Python! Very interesting is also the story of publishing the film - it was banned in a lot of countries due to the content.

Probably because they could only think of what it meant in their heads. Oh boy, I can see it now😆
There is a follow up to this when Bwian is recaptured and Caesar’s fweind Biggus Dickus is there. They both speak to the Jewish citizens, one not being able to pronounce the letter R and the other with a lisp. Check it out.
