  • A classic film review of The Krays (1990) staring Gary and Martin Kemp (of Spandau Ballet) as the infamous east end gangsters.
Directed by Peter medak, it’s a based on true events movie follows the life of the twin crime-lords in London's '60s underworld.
“When People are afraid of you, You can do anything. Remember that.”
This movie version of the the Krays legend shows how the twins criminal exploits struck a chord with a nation due to its rags to riches angle.
As well as Martin Kemp and Gary Kemp, the cast includes Billie Whitelaw and Katie Hardie. Peter Medak provides some great period detail and brutal action scenes. The Krays deserves to be mentioned when listing the greatest British gangster movies.
    .
Trivia - The real-life Kray twins were paid £255,000 for this film.

Your right its a classic. I think. Its. The last great British gangster film,
Right up there with get. Carter, long good Friday and villain,
    This movie deserves more recognition,..
Great video great review Stay safe 👍

Is The Krays an underrated cult classic?

I'm not sure I'd call it a classic, but I do feel it's more than worth time to watch. Peter Medak was an interesting director - his 'The Changeling', with George C. Scott, is one of the best 'haunted house' movies I've ever seen. 'The Krays' wasn't a perfect 'mobster' film. but again; I do think it's an interesting (and occasionally gruesome) look at the infamous Kray brothers' career. Thanks for the review! :)

I remember Siskel and Ebert talking this film up and was really looking forward to it. To be honest, I was pretty much bored with it. I guess I'll have to take another look.

Hi mate, oddly enough my wife was offered a role in this movie but turned it down and took a job working at the same place as me and that’s how we met 🧐 it was hard to get my head around the Kemp brothers playing the Krays having seen them on Top Of The Pops 🤣 but to be fair they do a very good job, as all the actors did. Nice one mate, take care 👍😃👍

Wow! That’s such a cool story! Almost lured away by The Krays, but fate stepped in! 😝
Yeah I didn’t have the history with the Kemps and wasn’t as aware of Spandau Ballet until a bit later so I’ve never struggled with them in the roles. It’s admittedly not the greatest film, but a personal favourite of mine. Thanks for checking out the video mate. Take care 🎥 👏

Like your channel have you ever thought of reviewing films payroll starring Michael Craig and Tom bell and also prize of arms starring Stanley Baker and Tom bell again

Thanks so much! I love Payroll, I haven't seen it in a while but I do have it on Blu-Ray. Now... I am a Stanley Baker fan but I'll admit I have not seen A Prize of Arms, but I've looked it up and it sounds great! I do love a good heist movie. I shall pop both of them on my 'to review' list. Thanks again! 👏📽

Nice try at convincing us about this one, but I don't see anything in your clips which convinces me that this isn't the turkey I assumed it would be with two pop stars in the lead role.
