    WOW JASS!!! I am sitting here contemplating blow drying my hair after a clarifying/moisture wash day and a nice DC! Added some olaplex bond smoother during my detangling session. Lemme finish your vid as I detangle the last quadrant of my fne-low/med density hair! Haven't blown my hair in a few months!

    I just blew my hair out and then used a flat iron to get it as straight as possible for a length check about a week or two ago. It's still straightened, I've just been keeping it wrapped at night.
    I used the shampoo/conditioner/carmeluxe deep conditioner from Etaé and the Knot On My Watch detangler but I don't recall what company makes it. I use leave in conditioner and heat protectant from I think Garnier Fructis (sp?), 72hr humectant weather protection hair spray and 24hr soft hold finishing hair spray I don't recall the brand name of right now, and I also use Jamaican black castor oil extra dark.
    I did run the blow drier (w/ a comb attachment which is what I did to straighten it in the first place) over it again followed by the flat iron (in about 1 or 2in sections from the back of my head to the crown and then up each side until I reached the crown, again my original method adding more heat protectant as needed as I went) one additional time maybe 3 or so days in from the initial process bc I added some weather resistant spray and moisturizing cream and it started to kink my hair back up so I think that's a good thing that it was puffing out like it wanted to revert but I still wanted it straight so I laid it back down and have only been keeping the wrap on it since.
    I tend to have an issue with over applying product bc I don't believe a dime or quarter sized amount is enough for my whole head but I just reapplied more moisturizing products last night in the suggested size and there was much less puff so I guess that really is all you need at least if you want to maintain the straightness. I'm sure i still apply more than needed when it's curly.
    I also apply more oil to my hair every few days to a week before rewrapping for the night and make sure to comb it through. Idk but I'm hoping the oil is saturating into my hair kind of like a hot oil treatment overnight from my own body heat under the wrap and as my wrap is not overly greasy nor are my pillow cases I think it's working plus it helps keep my ends smoother although they most def need a trim.
    I only trim my ends when my hair is still curly bc I've noticed trimming while straightened makes it look uneven or weirdly layered somehow when the curls are back so I'd rather do it the other way around. I just trim the part of the strands that aren't curling into a full corkscrew pattern like the rest until I hit the part where it is curling or is curling a little bit bc you can tell it's at least trying to curl. I also trim bits off towards the sides or back if they're hanging down longer than the surrounding stands even if they are curly bc I want everything even.
    My dryer and flat iron are from the Etaé line but I did just watch another hair UA-camr JasColoredCurls who mentioned for even further heat damage protection she has purchased the RevAir dryer. I did the same bc although pricy I like the idea of it using reverse air and tension to just speed up the natural air drying process as opposed to just blowing a bunch of damaging heat like every other styling tool.
    I have not tried the RevAir yet but I'm encouraged by Jas results in her tutorials and as I mentioned this was really just for a length check this time but when I want to do an intentional style I'll prob try that tool instead. Not sure when that will be as I try to avoid heat on my hair at all costs.
    This time it had been 1yr since my last length check, before that it had been 3yrs, and before THAT it had been another 3 years but boy are my curls flourishing.
    My previous routine consisted of gallons of olive oil spray and no or inconsistent heat protectant and flat irons or hot combs near daily in between too tight braids causing traction alopecia. I also got one or two frontals trying to be cute for certain occasions which promptly ripped out what little bit of my edges I'd managed to start to regrow at those points. Even worse, before that more in my late teens and early to mid 20s, my routine used to be going to get perms every 6wks!
    I am learning to love my natural hair and the tedious and upper arm destroying but worthwhile process of caring for it and tips from channels like this one have been essential in my journey. Thank you for all your content! ❤

    I've been heat free for several years now. The main reason is because of heat damage, but I don't want heat altered hair period. My hair has never been thicker.

    • @AlopeciaFreeWithJass
      @AlopeciaFreeWithJass  Рік тому

      Please let me know how it turns out. The blow dryer I used is called Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Styler. Please be careful with this as it can easily tangle around curly strands. Take your time and go slow to prevent breakage. If you need any further tips/advice, email me. I am here to help. 😀

    There’s also a healthier blow dryer it’s just a bit costly but it’s called MyRevair and it actually sucks the water out of your hair and there’s less heat but it’s sold on Amazon for 300 and if you want the whole kit it’s going to run you 500+ but I hear that it’s worth it

      Hi Ivory, generally speaking I would say use natural products in your hair regimen and eat foods that help to reduce inflammation in the body. However everyone's body and condition is different and reacts differently. I will be starting up my hair growth group again next month so stay connected to hear more about that. That way I can help more people in a community setting. Have a great day!
