Did you know that approximately 1 billion trees-worth of paper are thrown away each year in the U.S? Tune into this Curiosity Quest to learn how we can recycle wood.
THIS TYPE OF VIDEO SHOULD BE PLAYED IN SCHOOLS FOR THE CHILDREN TO KNOW HOW ALL THE THINGS THAT ARE TAKEN FOR GRANTED , ARE MADE OR WHERE THEY COME FROM. THIS WILL HELP THEM TO LEARN TO DO RECYCLE AND KEEP THE ENVIROMENT CLEAN AND HEALTHY. WELL DONE
It's amazing that China use all of this recycling industries to get materials to build it's industries, and then they scale up all this into industrial complexes and integrated manufacturies. Also give oportunities, employment and in some cases education to the poorest of people.
The best part of wood recycling is they take all kinds of useless wood and produce lush forests of trees, just acres of new forest everyday. It's so neato.

One day at local college in Ottawa, ON. Asked teacher whats happens to all scrap lumber from wood carpentry program. All goes in land fill. Nice to see American companies do more to scrap lumber !!!!!
That's too bad considering what opportunity Ottawa has to recycle CRD waste (construction, renovation, and demolition). Tomlinson's waste recovery centre is somewhere I know that recycles such things. wasterecoverycentre.com/ What college do you go to? Maybe you can talk to your teacher to try and get the material diverted from landfill.
This guy's audience seems to be persons around the age of ten to twelve years old. Because most of the info is at least 50 years old and his delivery is somewhat juvenile. That the state of California allows this type of use for old wood products is commendable but, what about using some of that wood waste to make paper or cardboard? Or even landscaping/compost material? And what about the material with non-toxic paints on it?
Ohhhh nice, they can finally do something useful like make energy, geeh they need to take this to more energy needed states such us California or something damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
You can't do that with those mixed and dirty loads. Some is being shredded for playground surfacing, but you need the right amounts of the right types of wood for wood products and paper.
Recycling is wonderful, but the question is: How much energy is used to generate energy? There are many trucks, heavy excavators and the giant industry itself and all the costs for people working there. It would also be worth it if the result is plus or min, ie 0
There is no problem with the supply of oxygen. The problem is with the oversupply of carbondioxide. Most of the oxygen in the atmosphere comes from the ocean, not the land.
No, except for the wood ash, which has some uses. However, it is not green - and shouldn't have even been mentioned as a good use on a "Green" program.
This narrator appears rather discombobulated and maybe he is late to the gay pride parade? We inquire not as slander but as a query as to why he cannot keep a rational thought in his head. This could have been a good educational video were it properly directed and presented. Thanks for the effort but this is rather weak. Best of luck.
Why is it that so many Americans feel that they need to make everything sound sensational, as though it's all an extreme and frantic screaming match? No wonder there are so many of them who use medications to try to calm themselves down. It's neither informative nor entertaining and simply makes the viewer feel exhausted, stressed and irritated. A pointless exposé from '... a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage ... It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.' Utter rubbish. No wonder children don't learn much from this type of idiocy.
You had better check on that statistic five trees planted for one harvested. I don't think so. And it does not mean we are gaining in carbon sink over all. We are losing big time.
@@ulisesrodriguez1277 When did reusable timber become waste? True recycling is as the name infers - keeping the material and reusing it. Burning is the end of the cycle.
@@MrHitchikerOzrecycling is using waste products into new material, in this case being the ash for concrete and energy, the wood would have just ended up being in a landfill so it is waste
Agh but how much is being imported. I would have to say that this percent may be true but not something to be proud of. Mind you most wood is sourced responsibly from fast growing species. The kids enjoyed this presentation. Thank you for your efforts.
Actually it is because when wood is burned carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere which is then reabsorbed by growing plants including trees. And because the wood in this video gained all it's carbon from the atmosphere in the first place the whole process is carbon neutral. just sayin
Except many of the tree plantations use a lot of chemicals during the early stages of a new tree's growth. The process is hardly carbon neutral. Also, the monoculture tree plantations destroy the area's biodiversity, leading to more pest/disease problems on the plantations and nearby lands. It would arguably better if it were all just put in landfills, at least the carbon would be sequestered. Composting would probably be even better, but I don't know how much CO2 is released during the process.
Very interesting AND Important information! But the delivery, ... Not so much ! I understand this is aimed at kids, but there is a fine line between "AGE APPROPRIATE ", and a (supposed) adult acting and talking LIKE a little kid! And younger children CAN TELL! I think they would appreciate (and retain) more of the message if the host was acting a little more mature (and, dare I say it,) PROFESSIONAL.
Must say man...Audio for this video SUCKS wang! Have to have the volume up nearly all the way just to clearly hear what you're saying. And given how loud the ads are, I refuse to up my volume that high.

I giggled when the host's name turned out to be Greene XD. He said at the end "Have you gone green?... I am Joel Greene"

A lot of the wood can also be chipped, instead of shredded, then made into pressboard or waferboard. Both of those are true recycling of the wood.

Not as much as one may think. I mowed 40 arces of grass using a tractor and used about 7 gallons of diesel, which is less than $20 at the time.

How is wood burning construed as recycling?
The definition of recycling is converting waste into usable material, which it is
