People saying that her and the bartender had good chemistry. I’m guessing no one here has ever interacted with a bartender before, most are charming and strike up a conversation with the people they are serving a drink to.
This bartender was smart enough to offer bits of wisdom at an awkward time, so I would appreciate the compassion in a similar situation.

I would have respected the guy for calling up and just saying so but the family emergency excuse is the sign of a cowardly "nice" guy who can't just own his actions and instead tries to roll with excuses that nobody can blame him for
